Ritzneer Valentine's oneshot
Just a little something I mostly wrote for myself that I felt like sharing based on a Valentine's art prompt i had requested of my friend, @royalchewy. Also this tune is what was playing in my mind as I wrote it that fit the vibes:
It was a beautiful and peaceful winter's day in Mount Rageous. The sun was shining and the sky was mostly clear with a few clouds here and there. It also happened to be Valentine's Day.
Two teen boys were on a grassy slope by the river, cuddling and just passing the time before going to what they had planned next. Veneer sighed in contentment as he snuggled deeper against the body beneath him. The young male kitsune's head was pressed into the other human male's chest with the steady rhythm of his boyfriend's heartbeat thrumming in his ear.
He was wearing a nice red sweater with some white slacks and black dress shoes while Ritz was clad in a red button-up, black undershirt and slacks and red loafers.
Ritz's hand was cradling his head and threaded slightly in Veneer's long, waist-length hair that had the top front part put up in a long quiff with the rest left flowing down his back, gently stroking through it as well as petting his ears.
He had a big grin on his face as his tail slowly wagged and a purr-like noise came from him in response to the caressing.
“Hey, Ritsu?” He looked up into the amethyst eyes he's come to love so much.
“Yeah?” Ritz answered, looking down at the other boy in his arms.
“I sort of figured that from what you got me.” He briefly glanced down at the huge black and gold box of Valentine's chocolates beside him from a brand only the wealthiest can afford.
“I know I didn't have to spend that much but I wanted to. Only the best for you, my Ricchan.” Then he thought, ‘I still don't know why Inari-sama had my string lead to him, a human of all things, but she must have her reasons.’ He couldn't deny how happy he was with him though. He was even the first out of him and his twin sister to fall in love. He was so relaxed and content that was starting to nod off then and there but fought to stay awake.
Ritz noticed this and a fond smile crossed his lips as he let out an amused noise. “Go ahead if you want to.”
“But don't we have that-” he was gently cut off.
“Yes but i'll wake you up when it gets closer to the time we have to go”
“Alright, Ricchan.” He then shifted to get a bit more comfortable and drifted off. Ritz laughed softly at the sight, pulling him closer as he looked out into the distance.
Ritz thought about their relationship so far as he ran a hand through his own two-toned half-blonde, half-blue hair and adjusted his hat. Who would have thought they would both find love in each other just from that one interview? Their first one with him to boot after taking Mount Rageous by storm so fast!
He remembered how not too long after that, Veneer awkwardly and nervously asked him out for the first time. And then Ritz thought of how they shared their first kiss on a moonlit, starry night. As well how that was the moment both of them truly clicked and realized they had completely fallen for each other. He also thought of how the truth came out about what they really were.
He, like everyone else at their Rage Dome performance, was taken completely by surprise when it happened.
He recalled the conversation they had the day or so after when it was just the two of them.
“You guys were amazing! That's definitely a show no one will ever forget anytime soon!” Ritz remarked, his voice full of awe and praise.
“Thanks, Ricchan. It definitely was. I'm still feeling the rush even now!” Veneer responded, his ear twitching slightly.
“But you know….you could have at least told me about this.” He gestured to him as a whole. “I wouldn't have said anything.”
Veneer smiled a bit sheepishly, “I wanted to from the start, believe me. But each time I was going to, I kept hearing Nee-sama in my mind and I just….” He trailed off.
Ritz nodded in understanding. “I get it. She was just afraid for the both of you. But still though”
“Thanks anyway, Ricchan.”
Ritz looked back down at the sleeping figure of this gorgeous creature in his embrace. Veneer really was beautiful. One of the most beautiful beings in all of Mount Rageous currently if you asked him.
He loved every bit of Veneer. The long, silky hair and smooth alabaster skin, white, blue-tipped ears and tail that were still fluffed up since he and Velvet still had their winter coats. Bright blue eyes, that cute little fang peeking out from the upper corner of his mouth and agile, slender body. Also his sassy, cheerful disposition he couldn't get enough of just to name a few.
Ritz looked around at the others in the area: groups of friends and families as well as couples like them dotting the place before looking back towards the rest of the cityscape in front of him.
He wondered what the future held in store for them. The fox boy mentioned something about a “zing” as well as explaining what it was, the strings of fate, and him being his mate and future husband.
Veneer also talked about his parent's marriage, how strong their bond was, how they were each other's zing and that he wished for them to at least come close to what they had. Ritz was aware of what happened to Hisui and Hiiragi from Veneer spilling to him one day about it, his voice rather choked up as he spoke.
He along with Velvet's girlfriend and future wife, Yozora, were able to meet them at the past Obon festival. They gained their approvals and blessings with the request from them to each look out for the twins in their place.
Ritz leaned back a little, shifting himself and his boyfriend to where they'd both be more comfortable. He grinned and chuckled to himself as his thoughts went to what they had planned for the rest of the day and as well as what's to possibly come for them.
