Like???? Blind people won't care about art lol. Describe a color? They won't know what that shit means. Some things are just inherently inaccessible and you have to deal with that
this just proves you know nothing about blind people, anon. you clearly exist in a world of such privilege, you’ve never had to consider folks with different accessibility needs–or possibly even lived experiences in general–to your own. and that’s something i hope you’ll address, for your own sake.
see, disability is as fluid an identity as any other. literally every single person will experience periods of disability in their life, some permanent, some temporary. and when you experience it, i hope that you’re met with more understanding and accommodation than you’re willing to extend to others.
you don’t know any blind people. perhaps you don’t know any disabled people at all. take that ignorance as an opportunity to learn from those who have something to teach. it’ll do you good! but i’m not gonna waste my time trying to educate YOU personally, because you’ve probably closed yourself off from that kind of thing.
to anyone else reading this, though:
most blind people have some retained vision, and very few blind folks are 100% blind from birth.
regardless of that fact, blind people care about art. they care about color. they participate in fandoms. they get tattoos, they go to art museums, they watch TV and movies, they listen to podcasts, they use social media, they’re interested in fashion, they get funky haircuts, they paint their nails, they decorate their homes. individual interest in these activities varies, as it does for sighted people. but blind folks don’t lose all interest in primarily-visual mediums just because they experience these things differently.
and that’s just it. it’s a different experience, not an inferior one. just as a wheelchair-user experiences sports differently, and a deaf person experiences music differently, blind people experience visual media differently than you. their experience is still valid and they still deserve access to things deemed “off limits” to them.
art is NOT “inherently inaccessible.” society is not inherently inaccessible, despite folks like this anon who want to act like it is. society is as inaccessible as the people inside it who uphold inaccessibility. i refuse to do that. my space–focusing on ART–on the internet is accessible, proving that assertion wrong.
