Yasuo had to cover his mouth to prevent himself from screaming in terror. He could feel all the blood escaping from his face and he wanted to run away.

However, his love and admiration for his friend made him stay and he gulped down his fear. He slowly edged forward, holding up a hand to touch Hiro’s face.

"W-What happened to you?" he asked in a horrified tone. "Who hurt you… like this?"

There underneath the moonlit hallow of the park, in the quiet and intimacy of the setting, Hiro could see fear creeping through Yasuo’s expression, draining his face of blood until it settled with a pale color full of terror. He couldn’t fault him for being afraid; at times Hiro was afraid of what he had become, what a cruel hand fate had dealt him. What was he now, but the essence of every person’s nightmare, nothing more and nothing less? Would Yasuo even let him near him And a gentle hand, a brush of the palm and fingers running down the side of his face, reassuring and arresting in its wake. Hiro leaned forward, craving the reassurance of even so much as a single soul out there, still thinking about him, still looking for him… “…Remember the fire that Tadashi died in? I tried to run after him and got caught in the explosion. All that was left of me…is this…it’s nothing much…just me trying to rebuild myself…” The constant reminder of his failures, the unrelenting shadow that followed him everywhere, his brother’s death now forever materialized in Hiro’s serpentine body. He shuddered heavily, feeling the weight of his grief pulling him down. “I’m so sorry, Yasuo-san. I brought this on myself. It’s my fault I became like this. And I know I know none of you would want to see me like this anymore. There’s no turning back…not for me…”

"That's not true!" Yasuo's voice cracked in sadness. "It wasn't your fault that your brother died in the fire and you became like this..."

Then without warning, Yasuo wrapped his thin arms around Hiro's neck and pulled him into a tight hug. He could still how soft and warm Hiro's body is against him. It's like Hiro had not left him.

"I thought you d-died in the fire," he muttered, trying to fight back the sobs that had been built up during the last few, lonely months. "I thought I would never see you again. You m-mean the whole world to me, Hiro..."

He pulled back so he could look at Hiro straight in the eye. "We're going to get you f-fixed... you can still c-come back to me and everyone else."

Yasuo had waited for Hiro to appear as the afternoon sky turned dark when evening slowly rolled in. It been months since he had heard of his dear friend and when Yasuo received a mysterious text message from Hiro, the fragile boy felt like he was going to faint.

Yasuo saw Hiro crouching in the shadows behind the bushes and trees. He was confused why the other boy is acting like that, and he began to feel nervous.

"I m-missed you too, Hiro," Yasuo said, twiddling his fingers. "Won’t you come closer? Don’t be afraid…"

But was Hiro ready to reveal what he had become to Yasuo? There where he hid in the shadows, a realization crept up his microbot-made spine. It happened too often; other people’s opinions of a person changes after a glimpse of the physical, often overshadowing the person inside. He hesitated, the fear a paralyzing agent that held every muscle taut and unmoving. ”Y-you won’t like what you see, Yasuo-san. Please promise me you won’t scream or run away…” And he slithered out of the deep shadows, slivers of moonlight illuminating the dim sheen of his serpentine body. The sound he made moving around was like that of a million iron chains being dragged across the ground. Hiro wore a sullen yet longing look, flinching away as he realized he had exposed himself to his friend. ”I-I’m sorry, Yasuo-san. I’m sorry you had to see me like this.”

Hiro had been away for too long. He found Yasuo where he asked him to meet him, within the confines of the park, where they always met. Almost ashamed to let Yasuo see him like this something of a half-snake sort of freak Hiro cautiously approached his friend, a painful longing tugging at him. It’s been too long since they met like this. “Yasuo…I’m sorry you have to see me like this…but I missed you…all this time, I needed to see you…”

"It’s n-nothing!" Yasuo stammered, now sweating like a sinner in church. Despite his nervousness, he felt that he can at least trust Hiro and hoping he won’t tease him about his fanfics.

"… Well, I kind of… wrote a few f-fanfics myself but I never p-posted them online before…" he muttered.

A flutter of the eyelids, and Hiro’s smile grew wider. Tadashi’s fanfics were one thing, Yasuo’s, though safe to say he’d be the first in line to read those which he wrote. Hiro sat beside him, a gentle grip pressing on his friend’s shoulder. ”Hey, I’m sure they’re amazing. I haven’t read them yet and I know they’re amazing. But if you don’t mind me asking, what did you write about?”

"Oh, I have my fanfic here actually! I've been writing this for over two years," Yasuo shyly takes out a thick notebook from his messenger bag lying on the floor. He didn't give it to Hiro, though he browse through the pages with affection.

"It's based on that online role-playing game where a brilliant, smart-alec Blacksmith named Shiro Hakamada and a blind but gentle Bard named Tatsuo travel a fantasy land together to defeat this evil Warlock named Isshin-Okage, who happens to be Tatsuo's father."

Yasuo paused to catch his breath. He wasn't sure he wants to tell Hiro the where he got inspiration to name his characters. Plus, there's also the fact that lately he's been putting... explicit content in his story.

Yasuo remained quiet though his face began to redden. He felt conflicted whether to tell his botfighter friend that he wrote fanfics too or not.

Hiro had a lot to say to Yasuo about the stuff he found snooping around (“which was kinda wrong,” he admitted) Tadashi’s side of the room namely, his writing. Not realizing, only until after his little discourse, that his friend might have something he wants to say himself. ”Was there something you wanted to tell me, Yasuo-san? Go right ahead, I’m listening.” A peek of a tender smile crept across Hiro’s face.

Yasuo remained quiet though his face began to redden. He felt conflicted whether to tell his botfighter friend that he wrote fanfics too or not.

Yasuo watched Hiro go, staring at the other boy’s bare skin with an odd feeling. He shook his head, clearing his thoughts, before slowing removing almost all of his clothes.

Standing at the edge of the lake in his underwear, Yasuo inhaled deeply and waded into the cold water.

"S-so c-co-col-l-ld!" he shivered. His teeth chattered lightly as he hugged his body.

He turned around to make a quick glance at Yasuo when he saw him shivering from the cold, his entire body quaking as he moved further towards him. Hiro turned around and moved closer to him, arms finding their way around his friend’s trembling frame. “We’ll huddle up, Yasuo-san,” he said, gently shivering himself. He couldn’t help but notice how soft his friend’s skin was to the touch; it made Hiro turn red all over. At the same time, it made him hold him closer, their cheeks brushing against each other. “You w-wanna head out into deeper parts, Yasuo?”

Yasuo blushed all over when he felt Hiro touching him and holding so close. He thought he could literally melt into Hiro's warm skin and for a moment, he thought his underwear formed a tent but he hope it's just the water.

He nervously wrapped his arms around Hiro's neck, clinging to him as though he would drown without him. "O-okay," he muttered.

The two moved deeper into the lake until Yasuo could barely reach the bottom with his toes. However, his fear is slowly fading away and he had to admit, it was fun being this close to Hiro. Feeling a little mischievous, he lowered one hand to pinch Hiro in the side.

Yasuo shook his head as he leaned against a tree by the lake. “I’ve never even went c-camping before. It was because of my health.”

He looked at the lake and just the sight of it made him think of what scary underwater things are waiting for him. “… I’m not a b-bother coming to this Hamada family trip with you, right?” he asked nervously.

Planned out a long time ago, Hiro had seen that conditions were right for a camping trip with the rest of the family. Nestled within the heart of forest just outside of San Fransokyo sat a lake, undisturbed by highways and skyscrapers, in a standstill of near perfect peace. He could think of a more perfect place to spend some time alone with the people he cherished the most Yasuo being one of those people, naturally. ”You’re never a bother to us, Yasuo-san.” Hiro patted his friend’s head. “I insisted that we’d take you along with us. Of course, none of them objected they were hoping that you could come along as well, too. C’mon now, I think the water’s fine for swimming ” Hiro peeled off his shirt and ran into the water, a mild sheen to it, reflecting the overcast above them both.

“…Have you ever went swimming at a lake before, Yasuo-san? I’m so glad you came along for our trip, then.” Hiro had a grin for his best friend as they looked over a lake nestled just outside the south of San Fransokyo.

Yasuo shook his head as he leaned against a tree by the lake. "I've never even went c-camping before. It was because of my health."

Hiro had forgotten that Yasuo was easily terrified of fireworks and the brought him inside somewhere where he couldn't be startled by the noise, somewhere nearest from where they were, in the park. "I'm so sorry, Yasuo-san, I had forgotten you weren't too fond of fireworks. Are you all right?" ((hirohamafuckingdone)) ((o hey look a rather late new year's thread with these two ouo))

Yasuo nodded, hugging himself tight to prevent him from freaking out and causing a scene. He almost had a panic attack earlier as soon he heard the first fireworks whistling and exploding into the sky, but at least he’s somewhere safe inside.

"I’m alright, Hiro-chan," he said quietly, giving him a small grateful smile. "I’m sorry I couldn’t watch fireworks normally with you."

"Don’t be sorry, Yasuo-san. Your safety comes first before anything else." Unaware, Hiro led the both of them into a tea house a few blocks away from Wasabi’s restaurant. Being the closest to them, Hiro didn’t think much about where, as long as it was safe from the noise. He had only realized it when the various aromas, all ranging from subtle to overpowering beckoned them further inside.

"This looks like nice place," Yasuo piped up, looking around the narrow hall full of Asian paintings. He and Hiro entered to a large room where there's only a couple of customers who are enjoying their tea.

"Table for two?" asked a voice. Yasuo saw an old lady wearing an apron came up to them. "S-sure. Please."

The old lady, apparently the owner of the tea house, led them to a table near the window, saying it shows a good view of the fireworks. Yasuo was glad he didn't have to hear the noises, but he before he can ask if he and Hiro can get another table, the old lady left to look after another customer.
