“I have tried on so many dresses, I don’t think I will ever decide on one. Why does dress shopping have to be torture?”
“Poor me, I can’t choose which dress to buy for homecoming, blah di da di dah di dah. Nobody fucking cares Mary.”

“Well, I did just get back from an institution so.. Yeah, I’m not depressed. Not right now anyway” he laughed. “Well, that’s cool.. You going to the dance?”
“I was thinking about it, Senior year and all. But I don’t fucking know, I don’t know anyone I’d actually bother showing up with or for so who knows.”
“Look, I get you’re worried about your essay, but the more you keep bugging me about grading it the longer it’s going to take me to actually get it done. So, if you could give me twenty minutes then I could actually get something accomplished and you would have your grade already.”
“I’m not even fucking talking, I just need you to hurry the hell up and do it. What’s your issue? Do you always crack under a little pressure? Fucking A.”
“I just heard that they’re doing drug searches at the dance? By ‘drugs’ do they mean marijuana? Because if so homecoming will be my last school activity and it was nice knowing you all. ”
“Normally I would just say, no fucking duh it means marijuana, but with all the fucking idiot spoiled brats here, I’m sure they know weed is the least of their problems and probably plan on focusing on blow or opiates.”

“Thanks, but I’ll only be able to do it for so long before someone irritates me enough to throw all my work off track.”

“What did they do to you that makes you hate them so much? Just a little bit, but you can call me Rick if you want. Yes, I probably should’ve started with that, but I assumed it was implied.”
“I don’t hate anyone, it’s a waste of perfectly good energy. Just cannot stand being around them is all, and I guess I’m just more mature, so I’m not one for all the games everyone seems to be so invested in. Rick, got it, and I figured, but wasn’t completely sure, I never get help here so I don’t really know who does what.”

“I’m not depressed” he laughed. “I just thought the idea sounded intriguing” he shrugged. “Yeah? That’s cool. Fall is my favorite time of year too. How come you want to go home?”
“No one is intrigued by their esophagus being ripped out unless they are trying to run away from something.” She stated as if it was a well known fact. “No reason, just feel like being with family during the holidays.” She shrugged, as she lied.

“We used to have a ladder for the higher shelves, but now I keep it in the back because too many people were falling off it or hitting people with it. Teenagers will never seize to amaze me. Rodrick Aglentine. Nice to meet you, Maddison Clarke.”
“Well at least I know where it is if I ever need it. And I fail to be amazed by them, they are impractical, it’s like a rampant fucking disease especially here at Silver Oak.” She said it as if she was an adult, “Rodrick Aglentine, that’s kind of a tongue twister. Are you the librarian, or?”

“Promise?” he asked mostly serious. He watched her get the candle lit and nodded. “Not too much.. Just hanging around dealing with every day bullshit. How about you?”
“Oh don’t be such a pussy, whatever is wrong in that little blonde head of yours you’ll get the fuck over eventually. Stop feeling sorry for yourself.” She didn’t need him to even complain, she sensed the depressed and pitiful vibes. “I’m staying busy. It’s my favorite time of year, but I don’t get to go home and I’m pissed off so I’m putting it into kickboxing and decorating.” Which is what she had been doing, lighting fall candles throughout her room.

“I’ll just have to test that theory one day. Sounds good to me. You’d be surprised by the amount of kids I’ve had to send to the infirmary. If you’re as sneaky as you say you are, I probably won’t have to pretend.”
“Fuck, of course, what the hell do they do? Fall off the steps? Jam there finger in between two books? I told you, complete Neanderthals.” She shook her head, a small smirk on her face as she showed disbelief. “Probably not. I’m Maddison, Maddison Clarke, just in case you ever need to shout for me or something. I’ll probably be here for a while.”

“Honestly, no idea. I’m just watching it but it’s pretty good.”
“Ugh, fine.” She complained trying to get into what was on the TV, “No I can’t do it, too boring.” She said after five seconds.

“Good” he laughed. “Alright, yeah.. I can do that” he turned around and saw that no one else was even close to being near them. “Well, looks like I just get to bug you” he teased.
“Bug me and I’ll fucking rip out your esophagus.” She said as she finally got the candle to light in front of her, “Fina-fucking-ly.” She turned over to Quentin, “So what have you been doing?”

“Very, apparently. I try to avoid interacting with students, so I wouldn’t know anything about that. I’m almost always here long after closing, so it really won’t be a problem. Even if you are, if something happens to you, it’s on me.”
“Very.” She nodded, confirming the suspicion. “Well lucky you, go out there for five minutes and you’ll agree with me.” When she said out there her head nodded to the exit of the library. “Well then it’s settled, I get to read, and you do what you normally do and don’t worry about me. I promise nothing will happen to me, I’ve very capable. Plus, what’s the worst that could happen in here, paper cut? Don’t worry, I won’t ruin your reputation of interacting with students, you can just pretend I’m not here.”
@maliciousmaddison: all of this drama would be way more exciting if you all weren't always fucking everyone, at this point it's not surprising its normal?

“I’m a little concerned that I never noticed. Incredibly ignorant neanderthal fellow students? That’s a little harsh. If they bother you so much, you’re free to be here when it is closed as long as you tell me first this time. I really can’t have anyone here alone.”
“Don’t be, I’m very sneaky.” Maddison said with a shrug, being blatantly honest per usual. “That was me holding back, have you heard them? I am nearly positive I’m attending a school with a group of zoo animals.” She was harsh, but it was her view on her peers. “So now I’m going to be ruining what you want to do with your free time, I’m not a burden on anyone, so you don’t have to stay. I’m responsible.”
