one more ooc post, i’m sorry, but : since we’re on the topic of horror, i just wanna give some suggestions for games that i love a lot and played, and movies too :’)!
and i know you’re thinking “save it for octoboer” but for goths ( even me, goth Lite(TM) it’s always horror time ) list below!
GAMES:
- silent hill 1-3 : please stop there.
- dead space 1-2 +THE ANIMATED FILM ( GORE / BODY HORROR FOR BOTH MOVIE / VG )
- CRY OF FEAR ( Half-Life Mod FREE on Steam ( PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR )
- The Evil Within ( 2 is optional, I didn’t like it NEARLY as much. )
- Outlast + Outlast: Whistleblower ( 2 is also optional, as it does not continue original story. New dynamics made it fairly challenging, and I wasn’t a personal fan of the plot, as I was in the first game )
- RESIDENT EVIL 2 REMAKE, IF YOU CAN HANDLE DETAILED GORE! i could not.

i know y’all hate when i post ooc because i’m just a content machine, but it’s important to examine and be critical of the media you consume and realize, it ain’t inclusive chief. it’s something the industry needs to do better with, imo. i didn’t count overwatch in my list because it’s not really a story-driven game ( because blizzard is just wanking their dick in their palm ) but the amount of story driven and heavy narrative stuff featuring a poc protagonist or strong secondary character is pretty... not as expansive as it should be.
I cannot think of a single horror game with a POC as the protagonist. The meme asshole in me wants to say, it’s because poc wouldn’t be in these situations bc we know better, kind of like mainline horror movies. but, truthfully, i don’t know the reason. the series i’ll mention? mostly white people, at least protagonist-wise. MAYBE resident evil in one (1) of the games, but silent hill, dead space, most of resident evil, alien isolation, cry of fear ( a personal fave ) and so many more are lacking poc for real.
but, the last poc we had in a horror-esque game ( PROTOTYPE 2 ) ...
WAS BIG BAD.
