I'm Ruby. I work as a waitress at the local diner. You may know me as the 'town slut' but I promise you I'm really not.

Kyle chuckles as he pops a piece of his grilled cheese sandwich into his mouth, chewing on it thoughtfully as he ponders an answer. However, the more he considers the how and why of how he got into inventing things, the more he floors himself with how much he doesn’t know. It’s always just been something he’s been good at, something he’s liked to do - part of him thinks that might have something to do with the fact that in another world, he’s a powerful wizard, so here, some of that had to translate over somehow, right? Like Leon said. “Definitely something I’ve always been doing. In high school I was a terror when something actually interested me, because then I’d end up trying to invent something related to the subject, and it’d just be a mess. But yeah, if you ever need anything made for you, I could do that.”

"Well I'll definitely keep that in mind then."  Ruby smiled.  "At least you were passionate about it though, and obviously you still seem to be.  It's always nice to have something you enjoy doing.  I wish I did, but as of now I'm fine with continuing to be a waitress here at Granny's."  the black haired girl said with a small shrug before finishing off the last bite of her burger.   "So is there like a second story to your shop that you live in or do you live somewhere else entirely?"

I figured we could have it at my place. I have the drinks covered if you can bring the food.

Well seeing as how I work at Granny's food shouldn't be a problem, so it sounds like a plan to me.

"I give you mad props - I definitely couldn’t do that, not even for a nice view of the sunset. I’m not an athlete at all," Kyle admits, huffing out a deprecating laugh with a cheesy grin still in place. "I’ve been less concerned with finding a steady job lately, more preoccupied with inventing then next best thing, you know? Taking whatever odd jobs I can get. That doesn’t really answer your question, so - stuffed or real animals in hovercrafts, depending on what the one customer of mine wants. That sort of thing, you know? Taking the scrap metal and parts and putting them back together to make something else, something that’ll help someone in some way enough to where they’d buy it."

"Yeah, I figured running in the forest wouldn't exactly be for everyone."  Ruby said with a slight laugh.  "That sounds interesting though, what you do and all.  How'd you get into building and inventing stuff?"  the ravenette haired girl asked as she took another bite of her burger.  "Was it like something you've always just kind of been doing or did your interest in it come later?"

Why don’t we try a party one on one and maybe have a separate party with everyone else some other time?

Sounds perfectly fine to me.  Now, where is this party going to be, and more importantly who's bringing the food?

Now I think the question is, do we invite others or keep the party private?

Ah, yes, quite an important question to be asked.  I don't have a particular preference.

We throw a huge party of our own, of course.

"A run through the forest? The farthest I’ve ever gone is the toll bridge, and that wasn’t even my idea," Kyle offers. He’s not exactly sure why, but he’s always just avoided the forest area for all that he gets himself into trouble in all other places sometimes. "It’s still more than I do. I mostly just invent things that no one wants, or repair broken technology, but then again no one really trusts me to fix anything of theirs without making it into something else. Otherwise, I just hang out with Leon, the one who works at the library with Mr. Oldman, and Belle too, I think."

"Yeah, a run through the forest is a bit of a different way to pass the time."  Ruby hummed.  "But it's really nice in the early morning or in the evening when the sun's setting."  Ruby thought about the various nights she had spent in the woods just enjoying the herself as she sat near a stream or something of the like.  "So what exactly is it that you make, or create I guess I should say."  Ruby asked.

That’s terrible. I think we need to fix this problem.

And how exactly do you propose we fix that?

Are there any parties going on that I can crash?

Not that I know of.  There hasn't been any parties in a few weeks actually.

Kyle huffs out a laugh. “I feel like I should’ve been able to guess that. Anyway - oh! Really? I love superheroes! Don’t even get me started, I could go on for days about Marvel and DC. Especially Batman,” He says, standing from the stool and following her with ease. “What do you do when you’re not working here? Besides eat, obviously, but I figure everyone does that at some point, right?”

Setting the plates on the table before Ruby took her seat, she replied, "Well I sure hope everyone eats at some point."  Ruby chuckled.  "Um, let's see.  I don't really do a whole lot.  I'll usually end up just hanging out with my friends or help out around town if it's needed.  Or I'll take a run through the forest."  She shrugged.  "Told you I didn't do much.  So what about you?" she asked.

Kyle sits up in his stool and leans forward, resting his chin on his hands and watching her move about, slightly intrigued. He knows he could never execute a grilled cheese sandwich as perfectly as Granny’s. “Nothing specific - just the usual stuff, you know? Like, your favorite color, or your favorite movie. Anything.”

Ruby let out a slight laugh, "Well, if it isn't obvious by how much I wear of it, my favorite color is red.  I don't have one favorite movie, but I did like the Avengers quite a lot."  Ruby took the grilled cheese off of the sandwich press and put it on a plate. In a couple more minutes her sandwich was done too.  "C'mon."  Ruby said motioning over to the table before making her way over with the food.

"I’d probably feel a lot better if I did do that, actually." He lets out a laugh and moves towards the counter, settling in on a stool. “So, is there anything else I should know about you other than the fact you work here?"

Ruby walked behind the counter to start making their food.  "Well, I guess that really depends on what you want to know."  Ruby said.  "Is there anything in particular you'd like to know or that you wanted to ask?  I'll probably end up answering any question you shoot my way."

In every town there’s a dreamer who wishes to get out of their tiny little town; Ruby was Storybrooke’s dreamer. Some people Granny might call the girl a bit too… strong, in the way that she comes on to people. It’s not a secret that people think Ruby uses her looks to get away with half of the men that walk in the diner. But that isn’t true. Ruby is just not afraid to show off that rockin’ body she has. Still she wishes people in town would try to think of her as more than just the flirty waitress who Granny has to call out at. There’s only a few people in town that actually see the girl behind the clothes, like Emma and Mary-Margaret.

Before Ruby dreamed of leaving Storybrooke, she was Red, the girl who learned that she was cursed to become a wolf under the full moon once a month. Leaving her grandmother’s cottage to escape the angry mob who wanted to kill her, and she never even had a chance to mourn her lover, Peter, who died at her claws.

"No, no - I mean, yes. Wait, no. What I mean is, I don’t mind. At all. Seriously," Kyle says quickly. Well, that could have gone better, he thinks to himself. “If you’re okay with it, I’m okay with it. I just didn’t want to be the jerk who makes you work on your day off or anything like that, you know?"

"Well being that I've made quite a few sandwiches in my time working here it should take too long.  Plus, all you ordered was a grilled cheese so it's really no problem.  If it'd make you feel better you can come sit at the counter and talk to me while I make the food."

"Thanks, Ruby - that’s really awesome of you. Yeah, that would be totally great," Kyle nods, hesitating in the doorway for another moment. “Are you sure though? I mean, isn’t it your day off or something?"

"Well, I like making my own food cause then I can be sure it's made just right, and making yours won't be that difficult."  Ruby said with a smile.  "Unless you don't want me making your sandwich, it's up to you."

A delighted laugh bubbles up out of Kyle, and he grins at Ruby, following her inside. “Thanks. The entire town comes here though, so I don’t think I’d set you guys back too far. Do you want to sit over there at that booth?"

"Sure, go ahead and take a seat.  I'll go get our food ready and bring it out when it's done.  I take it you want your grilled cheese as usual?"

I think the townspeople would banish me from Storybrooke if I made something like that happen.

"Can't have that now can we.  We'd lose one of our loyal customers."

"Oh, we're here." Ruby opened the door for them to enter.
