It would have gone unnoticed, the lack of response, if Ilya hadn't been, at that time, in the gym of their arena, watching some TV while working out with the rest of his teammates. They weren't even watching the news. Some of the guys had some talk show going on, gossiping on the latest "scandals" the entertainment world had to offer (which sometimes involved other players), whne the screen blared with the very ominous "BREAKING NEWS!!".

The players groaned at the interruption, and one of them was about to change channels, when the reporter began speaking and left the whole team frozen in place.

"An hour ago, a report came in of a bus on the Number 7 which had crashed and was burning badly by the side of the road. The first responders to arrive at the scene have reported that the bus is burning hot and bright. And it has been identified by the plates of the vehicle. They were found about 50mts. away from the bus, and it identified the vehicle as the Metros bus. The hockey team was on the way to Toronto. The team was supposed to arrive at night today, but nothing has been heard from anyone travelling on the bus yet. Nothing has been confirmed, but the authorities suspect the team was in the bus at the moment of the accident."

Ilya's blood froze. His whole body froze. That could not be right. There was no way that was right. Because if that was right, that meant that Shane, who was still playing with the Metros, was on that bus. And that was just not possible. Because if Shane was on that bus, and that bus had crashed and burned, with him and his team inside, that meant that Shane was....

I imagine that when Yuri went to Russia to meet Viktor they slipped and fell on the snow while running up to each other ,let a girl dream 🥹(the slippery streets during this cold and snowy season isnt for me but i couldnt just not think about them )
