Another fact, Black Hollywood content creators often inflict this problem on their own. That’s why “Insecure”, “I May Destroy You”, “Selah and the Spades” and any number of recent TV shows and movies are important. And it is no coincidence that a lot of these new good projects are created by darker-skinned women who knows what’s up and are centering more sisters on the darker spectrum. Long overdue.

this is a really really important thing to talk about and something we have to keep talking about, especially when people fan-cast gugu mbatha-raw into roles originally written for dark-skinned black women. i see you, i get you, we all want gugu mbatha-raw in absolutely everything....but widen your pool and elevate dark-skinned black women too. colorism in hollywood is no fuckin joke and your fancasts can challenge that
