One of the best things in wrestling is when wrestlers, after a great and exhausting match, find a way to make physical contact with the opponent who built this moment with them.

(I’m struck by Red Shoes Unno here, who is scolding Naito in-character, but that arm clasp looks very gentle.)

Watching this, I was reminded that it wasn’t just Naito that was denied a main event by fan vote all those years ago. It would have been Okada’s first Tokyo Dome main event as a reigning champion. This match felt cathartic for him too.
