With Black Friday behind us and with Cyber Monday approaching, I am reflecting on #GivingTuesday, an opportunity to "get out the give" this holiday season which comes on the heals of #Sandy and unrest in the Middle East.  How fortunate we are to have restored power and a nation that supports the East Coast recovery efforts. A great nation...

I’ve never been a Black Friday shopper and I have no intention of contributing to the fascination of bargain hunting on-line tomorrow.  I'm going to join the #GivingTuesday team and begin and support campaigns for giving rather than planning of a strategic cyber shopping strategy.

The disconnect between Thanksgiving and Black Friday ends with #GivingTuesday, an online celebration of joyful giving.  Join the YGGs team and celebrate gratitude for what you have and take a pledge to end hunger in America.  Follow the link and start a drive serving your community.

NJTechWeekly.com continues its interview with Patrick O’Neill, CEO of Mendham-based YouGiveGoods, a company perfectly positioned to help out as many try to recover from Superstorm Sandy.

We first met O’Neill at the NJTCIT Telecom and Mobile Innovation Competition held Oct. 4, 2012, at the New York Internet data center (Bridgewater).

For the past 2 weeks we have witnessed both the suffering and resilience of the people of the East Coast and beyond post hurricane Sandy.  To date the YGG crew has set up over 150 relief drives and has helped others raise over 12 tons of relief food on our site.

Last week our team members traveled up and down the state of New Jersey, from Newark to Asbury Park delivering food to various pantries in dire need. Today we share some of the recovery photos from Asbury Park. Our favorite is the photo of mother and child walking towards the shore...Resilience and determination to rebuild!

Back 2 School

After graduating from college just four short months ago, I returned to school today...social media school, that is! Great lesson today from Stephanie Jelley over at umojawa. Learned about the power of Twitter, Tumblr and other social media outlets and what an amazing impact they can have on the world. Just think if each and everyone one of us tweeted about ONE CAUSE that we truly cared about!? How much would we learn? How many people would get out there and DO something? Here at YouGiveGoods we care about fighting hunger and we present to you easy ways to set up food drives VIA THE WEB so that literally anyone with internet access can participate. When doing good is easy, more people will! So thanks, Stephanie, for the great lesson on how to use social media for social good. Can't wait for next week!
