I awoke Monday morning, as usual, expecting the day to follow along my planned schedule. As I went to the bathroom, I began to hover over with intense nausea. Unable to vomit, I continued to feel this God-awful nausea ā then the diarrhea (ugh, at this point who even want to read this ā¦..Sorry!).
The day ensued with continued feelings of nausea, extreme body weakness, and generally feeling miserable. So I actually spent the entire day in bed. I tried to sip on some ginger ale, and when able, I got up to make some chamomile tea.
By dinnertime, I actually felt hungry and made some oatmeal. But feeling too weak to walk around, I went right back to bed.
Today is Tuesday, and Iām feeling a little better, however, there are pangs of nausea, and I think best to take the day off again until Iām feeling back to normal. I donāt know what this strange sickness is or where it came from (viral stomach flu?). It is flu season, but I donāt have a fever. It just seems like it ācame out of nowhereā. Isnāt it funny how the universe conspires? It gave me a perfect day to sit home and write this story.
Our human form is so creative and free and exists on so many levels that weāre not even aware of. I think this spark of creation that we Are is an infinite creator; there is no boundary to our potential, our learning ā¦. No beginning and no end to it. Thatās why I think my body (as the vehicle of this sparkās expression) knew it was a good time to show me ā āItās time to place more attention on clearing toxicityā ā¦ā¦Kind of like a cosmic cleansing; it was needed for me to move into the next stage of growth.
Looking back, I can reflect on this process occurring in so many forms. On reflection, I can see the cosmic cleansing/healings I was graced with to carry me into over a decade of yoga study.
Back in 1990 something, I was selected to present a talk to my Journey church group on our weekend retreat (Womenās Journey Retreat). The topic was Healing.
I looked up the word healing in the dictionary. It used the word āwholeā.
I told my āhealing storyā. It was about forgiveness and all the stuff that I thought was important at the time. However, I donāt think I even had a clue what the word āwholeā meant at that stage of my life. I was a complete cultural social product of ignorant mechanical thoughts, yet underneath all that something knew it needed to heal. Even if Janet didnāt know what healing meant.
After I told my story to the ladies on the retreat weekend I did actually experience a profound sense of being clean, fresh, unburdened.
This was ages before I met my Gail, my yoga teacher. The next stage of growth ā¦..
Our first meeting was so symbolic of the journey ahead of me. Entering the yoga studio on the first floor, there was a dark stairway to climb, and at the top of the stairway, a door. As I enter the room there she is sitting in the dim-lighted room, cross-legged in front of a window. A beautiful sculpted bird hangs above from the ceiling. Her face reeks of understanding and compassion. I sit down and Iām lost in her eyes for what I think is eternity.
Fast forward about 4 or 5 years of immersion in her teachings, and I have a bout of sickness, chronic neck pain. So Gail comes to visit me. Sitting at my kitchen table, we chat. After we converse, she touches my face (between my brows) with her gentle finger (my eyes were closed so I donāt know which finger she used).
It was as if she pulled the innocent misunderstanding right out of me.
My pain miraculously dissipates. The next day Iām perfectly fine.
This mysterious human form exists on so many levels. The God spark of Life canāt be suspended in time, but itās like we can touch on it when we place our trust, attention and love on it. The ultimate āinner cleansingā is beyond time and form, but I think the aftereffect of the event makes itself known in every imaginable form.
So Iām going to continue resting today. Sip on herbal tea and wait for my inner cleansing to make Itself known in the next stages of my life.
