LAST BUT NOT LEAST

So, here's how it goes: I wake up, I get out of bed, I see the world, I get through my day without a hitch, and I live. Every day where I am not in my bed, is a good day. Where do you fit in?

You denying me a chance to dance with you already? Damn, well I guess I still got three more chances right? I never been to Vermont and to be honest I don’t even know how far it is from Chicago. They got good weather out there? If I get stuck with a weirdo, I at least wanna be walking round someplace sunny.

I didn’t say that. I just meant that I’d have a think about possible dates before asking the unknown to join me to a family event. Vermont’s about four, maybe five hours away from Chicago, so not that long. We won’t be driving that’s for sure, and don’t worry about the weather. Fran thinks that we’ll jinx it if we think on it too much, but from personal experience, it’s pretty good. A lot of couples go there, so you’d hope that there’s good weather.

It took some time, but I-- we got there in the end. I mean, my mom’s nothing like she used to be, but it was a pretty messy divorce, if I do say so myself. Why are you in New York and not at home? It seems quite strange seeing as you appear to be such a family man and all.

I’m not one to plan ahead so I wouldn’t know. What I do know is that I love weddings, the whole celebration aspect of it all is the best. Y’kno, free liquor, free food and meeting beautiful people. Some weirdos, but that comes with the package I guess.

I came to New York to hang out with a friend, not to chill with my parents. The only thing I’m doing is utilizing my old room. As for not getting told off… my parents will be doing that until they’re dead.

Well, suits are usually stuffy. Dresses are less so. But I’m sure the heels are still a bitch. Alright, alright. I won’t say mumbo jumbo. I’ll just think about it. Is that a bit better? I mean, you can be into it all you want. If you like it, you like it. I’ll try not to insult you for it. On purpose. That doesn’t particularly surprise me. Not as fun, huh? What’s fun for you, Quinn Fabray? I’ll like whatever you decide to get me. I was gonna say as long as it’s something that doesn’t try to kill me but it might be fun to wrestle an alligator.

That all depends on the kind of dress I’m wearing. I mean, if it’s skin-tight around certain areas, then there’s bound to be some kind of chafing. That is better, though. Thank you, Wyatt. A lot of people would have made a fuss about how they aren’t religious so why should they say anything, and it’s pretty insensitive. Fun? Hmm, let’s see... Close dancing’s (e.g. slow dancing) fun. There’s one example. I’d love to see how I could get an alligator back on a plane without it biting anyone’s head off. That would be fairly interesting, I’d say.

Yeah, your track record’s pretty ghastly. Not to say that mine’s any better. Maybe the world’s trying to tell us something and we need to sort ourselves out, stat.

I’m sorry to hear that. But we’re a family of 8, so it’s always a bit hectic especially when the extended family comes to visit and open more presents and eat food everywhere. I hear this year is the year to give shoes. The Great Gatsby, which I’ve already read, but it’s one of those ones I can always read.

Oh, it’s okay, really. It’s been such a long time since it happened that I think we’re all just glad that it’s mostly out of mind. Yeah, eight does sound hectic, come to think of it. No wonder why your place gets so messy afterwards. I can always do with new clothing, though, so it’s not as much a complaint as it might sound. I have yet to read The Great Gatsby, actually, so you have me beat for once.
