"I don't like kids, they're so annoying"
Mmkay but have you considered that we were all kids once? Have you considered that kids are just mini people who are still actively learning how to be people? Have you considered that washing your hands of the responsibility and privilege of teaching the next generation of earth dwellers how to survive is actually massively selfish and low key psychopathic? I'm not saying you need to pop one out. If you don't want a kid, I actually implore you not to have one. But that does not mean your life will be child free. You'll see them every day. You'll share space with them. You do not live in a bubble separate from them. This earth is a shared space, and humans were not meant to live as free standing islands. We need community to survive. We need community to build a safe future for the next generation.
To me, saying you don't like kids is a thinly veiled confession that you lack empathy and critical thinking skills. I will go so far as to say that in my opinion, it's on par with racism, ableism, homophobia, etc. It's discrimination, plain and simple, and it pisses me off. You're lucky anyone cared enough about your annoying ass in your formative years to keep you safe and show you the ropes.
I feel like asking people to care about each other shouldn't be radical. It should be the baseline.
