I rarely post to Tumblr but when I do, it's David Karp wearing Google Glass about to handshake-chest bump Robert Scoble at SXSW. Oh and I couldn't find anyone to cut me a GPOYW royalties check.

Congratulations David Karp and you're welcome. GPOY(W) meaning, history lesson and cool people. These were the good 'ol days weren't they?

Birthday party rules: never dress or look better than the birthday individual. Sorry for wearing the same shirt as you, Mike. Your ribbon accessory really brought everything together.

Three Things re: Instagram
2) When you look at photos made with Instagram, you are not looking at images of people or landscapes, you are looking at Instagram. The subject of the photos is incidental. What you see are the filters and the algorithms and, ultimately, the corporation. At least that’s how it feels to me.
Though I have parsed the post to reflect only my opinion and not Mark's complete thought, this is 98% of the reason I cannot stand Instagram. The remaining 2% houses rage for the word "sepia." No matter the hue, tone or contrast, your photography will remain unappealing to everyone but yourself.

Caturday. Not my problem.
Things that we have accomplished today. Caturday.
My eye for design is that of a six grader armed with a box of "extra bright" Crayola markers but I CANNOT ignore the automotive industries innovation aneurysm after innovation aneurysm.
Picture A: redesigned 2013 Ford Fusion. Originally unveiled to the American public as ugly in 2005 though an instant success as they were rapidly swooped up by every Taurus owner who had been looking for a reason to upgrade since 1996.
Picture B: 2011 Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Introduced in 2005 and still carries many distinct design cues as today's model. The Vantage is finely crafted by the Brits for cheeky, slightly over-weight gentleman like Jeremy Clarkson to own and for the rest of us to grumble about not being able to afford. Regardless, a beautiful car.
REALLY -- who went out to lunch on this one? We've come to expect this kind of behavior from Kia but typically not the Ford guys. Clearly what happened is some design chief got behind the eight ball, wrangled up all the university design student interns, gave them six cases of Red Bull, five seasons of Top Gear and said 'I'll be back Monday to see what you got."
It's Caturday, time to get weird.
Introducing: Highlighted Posts
Every now and then, a post comes along that’s meant for big things. It could be pulling the wraps off your new project, promoting your next show, raising awareness for a cause, or just sharing a truly incredible photo.
Today you’ll have a new option to Highlight those extra-important posts. For one dollar, your post will stand out in the Dashboard with a customizable sticker to make sure your followers take notice!
Tumblr goddammit. We all know that revenue models are extremely important to appease investors, afford hosting costs, pay staff, pay rent at unnecessarily roughed up office spaces but this is completely half-assed. Time and time again with such a wealth of creativity enrolled at your doorstep you continually roll out half-baked bull crap like this blatantly to show efforts at a revenue model. IT'S HORRIBLE.
The only community focused and believable profitable move you've ever made is allowing premium themes. Lazily copying Facebook promoted stories is a wonderful thought but remember that promoted stories are also delivered in sidebars as well as the horribly annoying ticker. Currently the only force-fed content delivered by Tumblr is the RADAR which, let's be honest, no one looks at. You effortlessly killed RADAR with infinite scroll but I'm sure you knew that.
I don't need extra emphasis on my dashboard of people I already follow to highlight importance. I follow them. Isn't that showing importance? If I needed a red notation indicating HOLY GOD READ THIS ONE THIS TIME I wouldn't be following in the first place.
If you're going to properly execute highway robbery $1 at a time at least don't attempt to sell it off as a cutesy starburst. A good company brainstorm never hurt anyone.

GPOYW - What's the matter, never seen a guy reading the Sunday Sports section with an open container of cherry tomatoes accompanied by Red Velvet Cupcake scented candlelight? Sounds like your evening needs an upgrade.*

State of the Text
I've been writing a blog post for the last 10 months internally discussing the merits and life benefits of blogging on Tumblr. Should you be looking for a quick fix of inspiration, there are hundreds of Instagram users who overly appreciate sepia filters thus making that umbrella tent at Chili's look that more exotic.
No additional commentary other than, yes.
Belfast December Meetup
The Tumblr community in Northern Ireland likes to get together in a big way, and they’ve just created a blog that proves it: NI Tumblr Family. They’ve already posted more than 100 meetup photos in just a few days!
On that note, several others have created Meetup blogs for their own towns and universities. Here are some of our favorites:
