here’s Rhe sketch stuff from the drawifn above the cut. sketching taco She only ever really gets oke plane. no budget for the rest. I couldn’t figure out what angle I wanted her for most of these. ANYWAAAIIIZ fun fact I made the Sun a ✨ cuz it’s the shape of the center of mics bow. Maybe that pulls the meaning of the peice together. Who knows. I don’t.
i balled out on these colors cuz I only ran it thru 1 Gradient map at the start then locked in for the rest. we win these.
also fun proces stuff cuz I’m so bored. most of my drawings get painted over so the lineart is usually just the first sketch. I got a comment on this drawing when I uploaded it to Pinterest, they said ‘why does taco look like that…’ and negative intent aside i think it’s very interesting and gives me an opportunity to talk about this comic again xd
I had designed her for this comic with full intent of demonizing/‘dehumanizing’ her! so I think it’s really funny that someone was disturbed/made uncomfortable with it! i wanted to create the taco that rested in tacos perception, a nasty husk that exists only to feel anger and weave evil. i give her ugly claws and long arms and dot eyes to drive the focus point of her appearance to these (wholly fabricated) monstrous and ‘dangerous’ traits. this all of course follows the dialogue closely. it’s all meant to force the viewer to confront the ugliness of taco that she cannot bring herself to deny.
there’s a lot of minute details- the bow covers her mouth which deprives her of much expression meant to further demonize her, the claw marks on the tree follow the idea of ‘ruining everything she touches’, the sun she’s reaching for with a clawed hand is shaped like the center of microphones bowtie.. everything has intent in art! it’s good to look into things!
in any case, I feel a little proud I made someone feel this way. one day I’ll draw her again like this…maybe…
