Metal and Dust - Francis & Lola
Francis had turned to his side by now - his back pointing at Lola, afraid to show any more emotions than he already did. He was ashamed for misleading her, letting her believe something, something that was clearly not over yet. Mary was still on his mind, and the more he thought of it, the angrier he got.
He shook his head, almost as if he was in denial, and he shrugged at her words. âI donât know what I am, really. Everything is ruined. Everything is gone.â Francis closed his eyes and gritted his teeth as he felt Lolaâs lips caressing his skin. âI hope youâll find a man whomâs actually worth your love. You deserve someone that cares about you, Lola.â He turned back to her once more, and touched her cheeks as he kissed her forehead. âPromise me youâll take good care of yourself.â
Lola watched him turned to the other side and let out a sighed, he was closing up on her again, she shouldnât have say anything. Why did she always had to speak without thinking, She rubbed his arm softly, pulling the covers over him some more, not wanting him to get cold. âYou are Francis. Not the Dauphin, not the future king, not the heir of Henry and Catherine. You are just Francis, the kind man that cares for others, the guy that has a broken heart but still found it in himself to help a girl when she was to be gambled. The guy that has a sweetness in his eyes and a warm in his smile. A man that can make anything he wishes of his life, but itâs your choice now who Francis is, itâs your decision. Your father and mother, the king and queen, they no longer get to dictate who you have to be, now you can decide who you want to beâ.
â You deserve someone that cares about you, Lolaâ, his words sting, -someone that cares about her, if only that was easy- she thought and it felt like a hole in her stomach but she hide it with a soft smile, moving away from his kiss quickly, âYou must not worry about me, Francis. Iâll do what Iâm expected to do and you donât have to worry about me. Iâll be fine, I always amâ.
Francis batted his eyes at her words. Touched by her kindness. She did help his heart mend a little. Created some sort of light in the bottom of his heart - and not because of the sex they had the night before. Her words were supporting. Something any man would desire in his life. Lola was a true friend for telling him the truth. Allowing him to encourage his own decisions. She was right. Now he was banished from court, no longer a worthy nor future KIng, his life was crowned to be his. His and his only. A faint smile curled up from his lips, and even though Lola was yet to stop talking, he jumped up from the bed - shaking his head as he lifted his hands.Â
âLola,â Francis spilled as he looked at her with a smile. âWhat are we ranting about? I am free. For as far as our concerns, you are too. No offense, but do your parents care about your brother, or you having to bail out your brother? Why donât go with me. If just for a little road trip, until I found another spot to settle in. If you wish you can always go back to court later?â
