I'M BACK BITCHES!!! After a good three years I've decided to repost all of my old stories and one shots after much editing. I will also be posting new content and taking requests again if anyone even finds me again.
I’m sorry I’ve been a little MIA. Work has been hellacious and I haven’t had a day off in two weeks, I haven’t filled my queue, and… I’ve been kind of … writing a very long in depth Steve Harrington slow burn… which I will likely be posting here… I’m sorry! This ain’t really a multi fandom blog but I don’t have anywhere else to put it 😢😢😢 please forgive me. Regular HP content will be coming back soon. 🖤
A/N: An adorable and very fun to write request from an old friend (from my first time on here many years ago lol) @serenefreakgeek
Summery: You work in the infirmary when you’re not in classes and have a monthly visitor.
Work Count: 2132
“Madame Pomfrey?” You called, stepping into the infirmary. You’d started interning under Madame Pomfrey over the last few weeks in the pursuit of joining medicine yourself.
Walking farther into the hospital wing, you notice a boy asleep in one of the beds. Quietly you make your way to her office, glancing at him as you passed. You recognized him to be Remus Lupin, a Gryffindor in the year above you. You didn’t know each other personally, but you’d seen him around.
“Madame Pomfrey?” Knocking on her office door, you twist the knob, opening the door as quietly as you can manage as to not wake Remus.
“Oh, Y/N! You’re right on time!” The older woman smiled up at you softly. “We have a student that will be staying in the infirmary over the next few days, it’s best if you don’t ask any questions directly relating to why he is here.” She looked up at you, serious.
You nodded, taking the bowl of warm water and the washcloth that she offered you. “If you don’t mind touching up the wounds on his face and arms, I’m sure he’d appreciate it.”
You studied Remus’s sleeping face for a moment before gently sitting on his bed next to him. Dipping the towel into the warm water, you wring it out before pressing it carefully to the dried blood on his face. Remus stirred slightly under the touch of the cloth, eyes opening to reveal green irises.
“I didn’t mean to wake you. I’m Y/N, Madame Pomfrey asked me to clean you up.” Your voice was quiet.
Remus didn’t say a word, watching you as you carefully continued to clean his wounds. As you finished, you reached for the jar of ointment on his side table. “This might sting just a bit, but it’ll help keep things from getting infected.”
He winced as you rubbed the medicine in small slow circles onto his skin, careful not to move too much as you worked on him.
“Thank you.” He said softly, as you stood and put the jar back from where you had got it.
Smiling down at him, you laced your fingers together, distracting yourself from noticing how attractive he was in the early morning light. “Uhm, of course. If you need water or anything I’ll be around.”
Just as the words left your mouth, the door to the infirmary crashed open, three very loud, very familiar boys falling inside. “Moony! You’re alive, mate!” Sirius Black’s voice echoed around the room. With that you stepped away, seeing what other tasks were laid out for you for the day.
“Back already?” You asked, a small smile on your face as you sat on Remus’s bed one morning several weeks later with yet another bowl of warm water and a cloth.
Remus’s face turned various shades of red, refusing to look into your eyes. “You’ll get used to seeing me if you are going to continue working in here.” He muttered.
Wringing out the wet cloth, you got to work tending to him. “Don’t worry, I won’t ask any questions. I’m just here to help you get better.”
When you were finished you stood, putting the used supplies in where they belonged. At the knock on the door to the hospital wing, you greeted the house elf carrying the tray of food you’d asked to be brought up on your way up from the Hufflepuff common room.
Walking back towards Remus, you set the tray on his lap. “Madame Pomfrey mentioned you might be in this morning, so I had breakfast delivered, and James dropped off books for you from the library while you were asleep, I’ll grab them for you. He also asked that I let you know they’d come in after Quidditch practice.”
“Oh, thank you.” The sandy-haired boy looked down at the food, the expression on his face near unreadable. “For everything.”
For the first time since he woke, green eyes met yours, something you didn’t understand hiding there.
Every few weeks it seemed; you would walk into the hospital wing to find Remus asleep in the same bed in the back corner of the infirmary. Your exchanges with him were always the same, you would clean him up, give him medication, make sure he got meals and he would watch you silently as you cared for him and thank you quietly. You never really spoke much, but the more time passed, the more often he would land in a bed, the more you found yourself watching him, smiling to yourself.
You’d grown fond of these moments with him, even if you never spoke to each other. It was difficult to pay attention to almost anything else. His voice drifted around you as he laughed with James, Sirius, and Peter, musical. The mountain of books always on his bedside table, somehow reading through all of them in the few days he stayed. How grateful he always looked when you brought him food or put ointment on his wounds. Something started to bloom in your chest, far beyond your control, and you found yourself looking forward to his stays.
Several months after the initial meeting, you found yourself in the infirmary late one Saturday night. Remus was, of course, in his usual bed, a book in his lap.
“Y/N.” He called to you. You looked up to find his eyes on you, motioning you over to him. “You’re missing the Quidditch match.”
Hufflepuff was playing against Gryffindor, but you had chosen to keep Remus company instead. “Hmm?”
“It’s a Saturday night, and you’re sitting in the infirmary instead of watching Quidditch.” Setting his now closed book into his lap, he looked up at you.
“Oh.” You could feel the blood rise up the back of your neck and settle into your cheeks. “I mean, we’re probably going to lose to Gryffindor anyway. I don’t have to tell you how good James is.”
Remus smiled, nodding. “Yeah, he is pretty good, isn’t he?” You laughed, trying to look anywhere but directly at him. “You didn’t have to spend your Saturday keeping boring ole me company.”
Butterflies swirled through your stomach, exploding in your chest. “It’s … quiet here. Easier to think.”
“Do you like to read?” He asked suddenly, green eyes boring into your face. You only nodded. “Here.” Remus picked up a book off the top of his book pile and offered it to you.
Taking it carefully you looked over the cover. “Dracula?”
“It’s a muggle book, one of my favorite’s so far. It’s about a vampire in the late 1800’s. See if you like it, if you’re finished with it when I’m in next, you can return it to me.”
Tucking your bottom lip between your teeth, you hold the book to your chest. “Thank you.”
He didn’t know why he did it. Not at first. He had been worried when he’d woken up to you cleaning the gashes on his face. The last thing he needed was another person finding out his secret. But Madame Pomfrey had ensured that he had nothing to worry about.
He had grown used to your presence and, even though it was never direct, your company as he spent the days after his transformation each month in the infirmary. You had always been very kind, making sure he was well taken care of and fully healed before he left. Something about you made him feel soft, something he was not used to.
Remus had recognized you immediately, though he didn’t know you well. You were after all a Hufflepuff a year younger than he was. He started looking forward to seeing you every month, one of the few good things about his little problem. He tried to keep the feelings that had seemed to develop without his permission very far away, but any time the hospital wing door opened he hoped it was you.
So as an excuse to speak to you, he’d decided to lend you a book. He had seen you reading several times over the course of the time he’d spent near you and one of his own personal books was the only thing he had to offer. He just wanted an excuse to get to talk to you. Sirius had told him to be up front, to just ask you if you were seeing anyone… but he wasn’t trying to ask you out. He just wanted to talk to you… and get you know you better… and make you laugh.
“Sounds to me like you want to ask them out.” Sirius shrugged.
Remus had rolled his eyes at that. “Don’t you think it’s near impossible for me to do that… considering the fact that I turn into a wild beast every month?”
“If they return your feelings that won’t even matter, mate.” James had suggested. The thought that maybe, just maybe, you’d like him at flustered him. Maybe you’d only been nice to him because it was apart of your job. All he was certain about was that he was absolutely not certain at all about what he should do.
You’d caught Remus lecturing Sirius again to make sure he’d gotten his homework done and couldn’t help but smile. Even when he was stuck in the infirmary he was constantly doing anything he could to look out for his three best friends. He’d caught you smiling, and you turned and marched into the office to organize Madame Pomfrey’s charts, hot blush working its way up your face.
There was no way he would notice you were smiling at him, right? He probably didn’t really notice you like that at all. No, you were just the person that he saw a couple times a month in the hospital, nothing special about you. You had thought.
The knock on the door jerked you from your thoughts. Letting out a deep breathe you yanked the door open to fine Sirius smiling back at you. “Erm, can I help you with something?”
He smiled for a moment longer before answering. “Just wanted to let you know that we’re heading out for the night. James had quidditch stuff and me and Peter have other plans, if you wouldn’t mind keeping an eye out for Remus… he gets lonely up here by himself.”
“Padfoot!” Remus called out to him. “Leave them alone and bug off. You’re getting on everyone’s nerves.”
Winking at you, and the shooting Remus a thumbs up, Sirius took off to follow behind James and Peter.
“I’m sorry about him, he doesn’t really know what boundaries are.” Remus’s voice next to you caught you off guard.
You shook you head, smiling softly at him. “It’s alright, I’ve heard stories. I’ve also dealt with worse. Shouldn’t you be in bed?”
Remus smiled sheepishly at you. “Probably, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to stretch my legs a bit. By the way, I’ve been meaning to ask… did you read that book I leant you last month?”
You had read it, twice. It wasn’t your favorite book ever, but you had enjoyed it. “Ah, yes. I wasn’t sure exactly when you’d be in but I’ll bring it to you tomorrow.” You smiled.
Remus was standing so close to you that you could have reached out and touched him if you wanted to. Ad often as you’d sat on the edge of his bed, he’d never walked right up to you before and your heart had been slamming against your ribcage at his proximity.
He looked like he wanted to say something but looked away from you…face red as you had ever seen it. “Are you alright?” You’d asked, afraid that maybe he shouldn’t have been standing at all.
Remus let out what could have very easily been all of the oxygen in his lungs before making eye contact with you again. “Do you….” He stopped talking for a moment.
“Maybe you really should lie back down, are you feverish?” You’d reached up without thinking to press the back of your hand to his forehead.
“I’m okay, Y/N, I promise I’m just… merlin, Sirius made this sound a lot easier than it is.” Pulling your brows together you, pulled your hand from his face and looked at him. “You can return the book to me this during this weekends trip to the village, they have a really nice tea shop.”
The butterflies that had been swirling around inside of your belly all stopped at once. “Remus-”
“Yes.” His green eyes bore into yours intensely. “I am asking you out, you may feel free to decline but I’d like to spend real time with you, outside of the hospital.”
Your lips turn up into a smile so big it almost hurt. “I’d love to, yes… I mean… that sounds lovely.”
More Remus content? Yes plsss alright so if I could request Hufflepuff!reader and maybe they intern for Madam Pomfrey so they keep meeting Remus in the office without realizing why and fall for him over time, with how much he cares for his friends and the books he reads while he heals? And they think he doesn't even really acknowledge that they exist except he's falling for them too but just doesn't know how to handle it?
(love love love your writing btw!!)
My darling! Yes! I am so sorry that it took so long for me to get this posted. I have been fighting with myself to not make this into a multi-part fic to get everything I wanted into it. I have it in my queue to post tonight!
I appreciate you and your support so much! I hope you like it!
A/N: This was a song fic request for Taylor Swift’s Speak Now.
Summery: Draco is getting married but not to you.
Word Count: 1481
The beating of your heart in your chest sped up to a rather painful speed at his words. Words that made you wish that your heart would just stop all together. The look on his face told you that at the very least, he was being honest with you, whether you, nor him liked it at all.
“Y/N, please don’t look at me that way, there is nothing I can do. The wedding is two months away.” How was he so calm about all of this? He should have at least been acting much more upset by this.
You reached for his arms, holding onto him as if he would disappear, slip between your fingers at any moment. “Tell me that you love me, please. I know that you do. Just say it, hear the words come from your own mouth.” You pleaded with him. “Draco, please.”
He reached up to take your face into his hands, your own falling away from him as he placed a gentle kiss on your brow. “Of course, I love you, I- I always have.” He moved his gaze down to your eyes. “My parents arranged the whole thing and there is nothing left for me to do.”
“Can’t you fight for me? Tell them how you feel?” You were on the verge of begging.
Draco shook his head, lightly brushing his right thumb over your cheekbone. “I have, my love. Since they first propositioned me with the wedding. They didn’t care that I don’t want to be with her, they only care that it’ll be good for our names, good for our families. She’s a pureblood, part of the sacred 28.”
The corner of your eyes were prickling as you fought the tears. “Don’t do this to me, Draco. Please don’t let me go.”
He looked away from you, before letting his hands fall to his sides. “I’m sorry my darling, but I don’t have a choice.”
You could have laughed at the thought of attending the Malfoy wedding when the all too formal invitation came in the mail. You however never imagined that you’d actually go. But there you were, walking up the steps of Malfoy Manner in a black “A” line, off the shoulder dress, the skirt stopping just above your knee, lace covering the top, with a bow accessorizing your waist. You had your hair curled into a bun, with a hair-braid headband, and your bangs curled, shaping your face.
This was the very last place that you wanted to be, but it was your last chance to see him, and though you had not said a single thing to Draco over the past two months, you wanted a chance to at least say good bye. Listening in on the conversations of the people around who were mostly ignoring you, you find out that Draco is upstairs in his bedroom, getting ready for his big day.
Fortunately, Malfoy Manner was exactly as Draco had explained it several times though his childhood stories, and after checking to make sure that there is no one watching you, you snuck off into that direction with ease.
Finding his bedroom door, you rap your knuckles gently against the wood. “Oh, bloody hell.” Draco said, as he pulled the door open, “Mother I’m- Y/N?”
He looked ever so handsome in his dress robes, you couldn’t take your eyes off of him, until he grabbed you by the wrist and yanked you into his bedroom, quickly closing the door behind him. “Y/N, what are you doing here?”
Red warmth crept up the back of your neck, settling in your cheeks. “I got an invitation, I wasn’t going to come but I… I just wanted to say goodbye.” The words stung on your tongue as they slipped carefully from between your lips.
Draco said nothing at first, only looking over you, a haunted look in his grey eyes. “Merlin, you are as beautiful as I have ever seen you.”
Sucking your bottom lip between your teeth, you turn away from him, focusing on the guests out on the lawn through his bedroom window. You recognize several of them as his friends from school, and assume that the others were his bride-to-be’s relatives.
“I’m only here to say goodbye.” You sounded like you were trying to convince yourself more than him. “I didn’t come to…”
You could imagine him nodding behind you. “I know, you’re not the type of girl that would try to come and steal me away.”
Letting out a sigh, you turn to look at him again. “And I never thought you’d be the guy that marries the wrong girl, just because his parents tell him too. What do I know?” You go to storm past him, but Draco reaches for your hand pulling you to a stop.
“This isn’t anything like what I thought it would be. I want you to know that I’ve always thought that it would have been you. I always wanted it to be, and I always will.”
Pulling your hand from his, you look down at the black stilettos covering your feet. “I’ve got to go, but I hope that you find your happy.”
“I already have.” He said, looking at you.
Inside the lavishly decorated ballroom, you find an empty chair on the groom’s side and sit down, waiting the minutes by as everything is sorted and the groomsmen start to line up. Draco’s mum walks over to him, fussing over his hair until he pulls away from her. You can see her pat his arm before taking the seat in the front row next to her husband.
Draco’s eyes drift over the many guests stopping at you, his eyes telling you something that you don’t quite understand. The last things he said running through your head.
What the hell were you doing? You couldn’t just let him get married to someone else! Not without trying to win him back, one more time, at least.
Just as you braced yourself to stand, the wedding march started to play. Everyone around you stood and turned to look back at the door. The line of bridesmaids entered the room, one by one, forming a line, Pansy entering last, looking absolutely breathtaking in the big white gown. How were you ever going to compete with that?
She made it to the front of the room, Draco removed the veil that covered her face, and she took his arm as they turned to face the wizard that looked out on the room.
The entire room was silent as the man at the front of the room spoke.
“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today in the presence of these witnesses, to join Draco Lucius Malfoy and Pansy Parkinson in matrimony-”
Chewing on your lip you waited patiently, you didn’t know what you would do if you missed it. Each word the Wizard spoke gnawing at your soul.
‘You can do this.’ You kept saying to yourself.
“If any person can show just cause why they may not be joined together, let them speak now-”
You stood up, “Stop!” You yelled out, hands shaking at your sides as everyone in the room turned to look at you.
Pansy looked from a smiling Draco to you, and back to Draco. “What is she doing?” She hissed at him. You moved out to the center aisle, not taking your eyes from the man at the end of that was beaming back at you.
“I told myself that I didn’t come here to do this, but honestly who was I kidding? I’m going to ask you one more time, and if you say no I’ll leave in peace and you’ll never see me again.”
“THEN GO!” Pansy called out. You could see Lucius talking to two other men, and they made their way towards you.
As they reached out for you Draco spoke up. “Wait, don’t touch her. I want to hear what she says.”
Draco’s mother stepped out, “Draco, we need to get on with this.”
“Oh, mother please. Just let the girl talk.” He turned to look at you again, his smile growing. “Go on, Y/N. Ask me.”
You couldn’t help but smile back. “Draco, please don’t marry her. You don’t belong with her, she’s the wrong girl for you. Run away with me?”
He ran down the isle towards you, scooping you up into a hug, and spinning you in circles. When he set you down, Draco grabbed your face, pulling you into a kiss in front of everyone. The room around you filled with angry murmurs but neither of you seemed to care. When he pulled away from you, that beautiful smile still on his face, he reached for your hand and you both ran away from the wedding and the guests, as several people called to him, and towards your happiness together.
From the moment that you woke up, you knew that it was going to be one of your bad days. You didn’t want to move, or think, or do anything really. Rolling over onto your side to check your watch, you noticed that all of the other girls had already left to breakfast, and also that you had overslept. Sighing, you rolled into a more comfortable position amongst your quilt and bed sheets, contemplating skipping not only breakfast but your classes all together.
You had no motivation at all for anything, and in fact weren’t really feeling anything at all. Sleeping for the next four years sounded like a plan you could go along with, a little dramatic maybe, but you could settle with it. But for now, sleep did not seem like it was going to come, and instead you ended up tossing and turning, this way and that, more frustrated than anything.
The quiet knock on your dorm door had startled you, and looking over to it, you’d found Remus sticking his head into the room. “May I come in?”
You nodded, watching him enter and make his way to you, a plate of toast in his hand. “How’d you get up the stairs?” You asked.
“Lily.” He sat at the edge of the bed, placing the toast on your night table. “She’s worried, said you over slept, and you hadn’t been very talkative the last few days.”
Remus reached towards you, brushing the back of his hand down your cheek gently, and then cupped your face in his hand to look down at you. “Just having a day, I guess.”
“I thought so, I told her that I’d try and talk to you. She made me bring the toast.” He gave off a little chuckle. “Are we skipping class today?”
“Thinking about it.” Glancing at the clock again, you realized that even if you had gotten up and put on your school robes, you’d still be late. “I’m not really feeling it today.”
He kicked off his shoes and moved into the bed, under the sheets, next to you. “If you’d rather just stay here all day, I’ll be right here with you. If you decide that you’d rather be alone, I’ll go to class and I’ll come check on you later. No matter what you need, I’m right her for you.” Remus smiled softly, before leaving a chaste kiss between your brows.
“I think it’ll be alright for you to stay, as long as you don’t get in trouble because of me.” You cuddled up to him, ignoring the toast that you didn’t want to eat.
You laid there for what had seemed like an eternity in silence, before the question on your lips had eaten a hole into your stomach. “Why do you put up with me Remus?”
Suddenly his neutral expression turned into a frown and knitted brows. “What do you mean by that?” He asked.
Looking over ever crease in his face had almost made you feel bad, “I’m a mess, I can’t control my feelings… I guess I can’t really say feelings, can I? I don’t really feel anything. When I get this way, why do you put up with me?”
He took your hand in his, pressing it firmly to the left side of his chest, his heart beating steady underneath. “Do you feel that?” You only nod in response. “That is for you. I love you, and I would do anything to make sure that you’re okay, or as okay as you can be on days like this. You help me carry my baggage, I will carry yours for you when you can’t.”
His serious expression was unchanging as he continued to speak. “You are far too important to me, to let something you can’t control like this, run me off. I am the last person who would ever do such a thing. I will always be here for you, even when you don’t feel like you can be here for yourself.”
You snuggled closer to him, letting him hold you close, falling asleep. You might not be out of your funk when you woke up, but you knew he’d still be there with you.
Summery: You and Draco are reunited after a year, in the fire in the RoR.
Word Count: 1199
Nearly everything in the Room of Requirement was on fire, and you had no idea where Draco had gone. You had stayed with Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Draco and gone off with Crabbe and Goyle. This was not how you had imaged it, all of those months that you had been gone, separated from him to go off and help your friends, this was not at all how you had imagined the two of you reuniting.
And now everything was on fire, the four of you were scrambling to find a way out, but everywhere you turned, flames had started to lick up the piles, upon piles of things that surrounded you.
“What do we do?” Hermione shouted, latching herself tightly onto Ron. “We’ve got to get out of here.”
You all looked around, Harry bounced off for second, returning with a hand full of brooms. “Here, we’ll fly out!” He tossed a broom at you and one at Ron, everyone mounting, with Hermione behind Ron. Taking off, you had all seen that Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle had climbed one of the burning stacks, they’d all been screaming.
“HARRY!” You shouted, trying to catch his attention, though he zoomed in front of you. “HARRY, WE’VE GOT TO SAVE THEM!” There was no way you could leave them all to burn up, especially not Draco.
Harry whipped around on his broom, and you did the same as he came back past you. Just as you had started that way, with Ron and Hermione on your tails, Crabbe had fallen into the hungry flames right before your eyes. “You grab Malfoy, I’ll take Goyle!” Harry called out to you, both of you flying as fast as possible in their direction.
At first swoop around, you’d missed, barely brushing fingers. The second time around, you had a firm grip on him and pulled him onto your broom behind you. He clutched onto you for dear life, you could feel that he was sobbing as he pressed himself as tight as he could into your back.
You landed, safe out of the way of the fire, Draco pulled you into his chest, still sobbing. “I’m so sorry.” You couldn’t help but start to cry as well, it was all starting to finally get to you. Especially after you could have very nearly died just now.
You pull his face to yours, the kisses sloppy and wet. “If you ever do anything like this again, I’ll kill you myself.” You said.
“We’ve got to get out of here.” He grabbed for your hand and pulled you after him. “I refuse to nearly get you killed again, and I’m not going anywhere without you.”
The both of you had hid for most of the rest of the battle, until You-Know-Who had brought Harry’s limp body back. You and Draco stood amongst the crowd of your fellow students and teachers, all of the dark wizards seemed to be laughing at the rest of you.
“Draco!” His father called, once he’d spotted him next to you. You glanced up at him, squeezing his fingers tighter in yours. “Draco!!”
And then his mother called to him. “Draco, come!” For the most part she had been, not innocent, but close. You could tell that he wanted to go to her, but his feet stayed planted.
“I’m not leaving you again.” He whispered to you, recalling how he had left school last year after Dumbledore had been murdered. “I’ll never leave you.”
Draco had stayed true to his word. He hadn’t left you, which was the first thing that you remembered when you bolted up right, covered in a sheen of cold sweat. He was laying next to you, beautiful in his slumber. You checked the clock next to the bed, you’d only been asleep for a little over an hour. Quietly you removed yourself from bed, finding something to keep you busy.
It had been months since the war ended, and you’d barely gotten any sleep since. Every night you seemed to wake violently from the nightmares. Between all of the things you’d seen when you were on the hunt with Ron, Harry, and Hermione, the dead bodies of people you’d known rather closely over the last seven years, and the fire that had nearly killed both you and Draco, your nightmares had been ever so colorful. Most of the time you could hide the dark circles, pretend that you weren’t exhausted. You’d done such a good job fooling everyone else, that you’d even started to fool yourself.
“Are you sure you aren’t hungry?” Draco asked, looking at you strangely. His words had barely registered with you though. Your focus had seemed to be going in an out, blinking you tried to shake the distortion from your eyes. “Y/N?” His voice seemed so far away…
Your head was pounding, but still you managed to get your eyelids to open, albeit the motion seemed to take over an entire minute.
The spot on the bed next to you, Draco was sat, watching you closely. “How long?” He asked, voice cold and hard.
“How long, what?” You voice sounded as scratchy as your throat felt dry.
He wouldn’t take his eyes from you. “How long has it been since you slept?”
You let out a defeated sigh. You hadn’t wanted to tell him, you’d been hoping that it would have just gone away on its own. Maybe if you could change the subject... “How long was I out?”
“You know that isn’t going to work on me.” He huffed, crossing his arms over his chest. “I’m worried about you, Y/N. You passed out right in the middle of a conversation. You’ve been acting strange lately. Merlin, I should have known.”
Looking away from him, you had started toying with your sleeves. “I’m okay, you don’t have to worry about me.”
“Please talk to me.” Draco begged, his voice shaky. “I can’t just sit around and let something happen to you, love. I can’t lose you.”
You stayed quiet for a few minutes, the only sound in the room was your uneven breathing. When you had finally decided to speak, your voice was barely audible. “I’ve been having nightmares, ever since the battle. I try to sleep, I just always wake up after only a few hours. It’s too vivid, all of the bodies and blood, and-and-” You started to cry, Draco pulled you into his lap, his arms wrapped tightly around you, rocking side to side.
“Shh,” He kissed your hair, “shh, It’s okay. I’m right here.”
You cried and cried until there was no more tears left, but he still held you close. “I am right here for anything that you need, you hear me? Don’t you ever think that I won’t be. I’ll never let anything happen to you.”
For the first time in months, it felt like a weight has lifted off of your chest, but you were glad. The road ahead was sure to be a long one, but you knew that it was nothing that you weren’t going to be able to handle, especially when Draco had kept you wrapped up so tightly in his arms.
A/N: In a word where Draco can’t have everything that he wants...
Summery: Draco has been your best friend... forever... and he doesn’t like to share.
Word Count: 805
Draco had been acting rather... off since you had started to make other friends. It had been you and him for quite a long time, it had seemed. He wasn’t used to seeing you paling around with other people, especially not any other boys, and especially not his nemesis, Harry Potter.
He was just... jealous to put it quite honestly. He’d enjoyed having you to himself. And it didn’t seem to help at all that he’d been a bit too fond of you, he liked to say, never willing to admit that his “fondness” had actually been romantic feelings. His aim wasn’t to upset you, just to win you back.
But he had upset you.
It had been just any ordinary Wednesday, and you’d been walking across the school grounds with Harry, Ron, and Hermione after class.
“Haven’t seen Draco around much, you two alright?” Hermione asked, looking towards you from the corner of her eye.
You stayed quiet for a long moment. Draco hadn’t been talking to you very much lately, and when you did try to speak to him he would act strange, make up some sort of excuse as to him being busy, and would leave. It hurt, a lot. He’d been your friend since first year, and it had seemed until recently that nothing would ever come between the two of you.
“He doesn’t always speak to me, anymore.” You sighed.
Harry swung his arm around your shoulder, “Well he’s a git, if I ever saw one.”
This had made you smile just a bit. You knew that these three and Draco hadn’t ever got on very well, but still they never talked about him badly around you.
Draco watched as you came into the castle with Harry’s arm around you, and a bit of a rage burned inside of him. The rational part of his mind had told him to relax, but instead he stormed over to the four of you, face bright red with his anger. He said nothing to you, looking directly at Harry instead. “Can’t make friends for yourself Potter, is that why you’ve gone about stealing mine?”
“Excuse me?” You said to him, but he ignored you, not breaking eye contact with Harry.
“The way I hear it, you’ve not been that great of a friend lately, Malfoy.”
“He wouldn’t know what a friend was if it bit him in the arse.” Ron added.
“Will you all quit it!” Your voice came out loud and shrill. Grabbing Draco roughly by the wrist, you looked to Harry, Hermione, and Ron. “I’ll see you later.”
Dragging Draco out to the court yard, you hadn’t said a word. You whipped around to look at him, angry pouring out of you. “What was that?” You demanded.
“It’s not my fault Potter can’t make his own friends.” Draco smoothed out his hair, a smirk on his face.
He was hiding something from you, and you knew it. “What is going on with you? You’ve hardly spoken to me in weeks, and now you’re getting in Harry’s face for being my friend?”
“What’s going on with me? You’re the one that decided to be friends with Potter...” He said defensively, crossing his long arms over his chest, refusing to meet your gaze.
“Are you trying to tell me that I can’t have other friends, Draco?” You had started to raise your voice at him.
His face fell as he realized that you were angry with him. He had begun to feel conflicted.
“It’s not like that, Y/N...” Draco said softly.
“Well, what is it like?”
He let out a sigh, was this whole mess really worth losing you over? No, it wasn’t. No matter how much he hated Harry Potter, it wasn’t worth losing you.
“I really, really like you.” He said hesitantly, “In a not friendly type of way. I got jealous, and I realize that it was a mistake to act the way that I did. I saw you getting a little friendly with Potter, and I freaked out. Just... I understand if you like him, I guess, he is the chosen one or whatever, but I’d really prefer if you would choose me.”
You hadn’t expected him to say anything like that, but even with as shocked as you were, it didn’t change the fact that you were still angry with him.
“What is wrong with you? You think that you can just ignore me and be mean to my friends because you decided to have a crush on me? SERIOUSLY? For starters, I am not romantically interested in Harry. Maybe it would do you well to ask before assuming things about me. As for the rest... I need time to think.” You huffed, turning on your heel to leave.
Draco stood in the court yard alone, feeling helpless.
A/N: I WILL be writing a second part to this, time skipped to PoA because this ending is BULLSHIT. I hate myself enough for all of us. Also this bitch LONG.
Summery: Sirius meets your parents for the first time.
Word Count: 3869 (Could I have made this two parts? yes. I didn’t want to.)
Sirius Black just didn’t do parents. Not that he’d ever really seen a girl long enough to actually meet her family, but that was completely beside the point. Y/N wasn’t one of the other girls that he used to date, ‘she’s special, she’s important’ he thought, as he looked over himself in the mirror. He needed to make an impression, and a damn good one at that.
You didn’t like to admit that your parents weren’t the fondest of Sirius, no matter how hard he had tried to drag it out of you, but they also hadn’t met your boyfriend before, only basing it on the infamous House of Black. No matter how often you tried to tell them he wasn’t like them, he didn’t even live with them anymore, they chose not to listen. And to their dismay, you had invited him to come home with you for Christmas, which you practically had to talk him into, but your parents had agreed to be civil.
And Sirius was freaking out. You had been watching him as he was making a fuss over his appearance in the stand-up mirror, brushing at his suit and picking at his hair. He was extremely stressed, you could feel it pouring off of him from all the way across the room, and of course he was mumbling at himself. You sauntered over to him, firmly grasping at his broad shoulders and kneading them with your hands. He relaxed into your touch, smiling at you through the mirror.
“You don’t have to do the monkey suit; your leather jacket and jeans would have been fine.” Your voice was soothing, as you leaned over his shoulder to place a gentle kiss to his cheek.
He let out a deep sigh, shaking his head. “No, that simply wouldn’t do, darling. These are your parents, this is- this is far too important for denim and leather.”
To see him trying so hard, just for you, filled up your chest with a burning sort of love that only he had ever brought you. “Just wait, my love.” You turned him around to face you, taking his scruffy face in your hands, to look into his stormy eyes. “They will love you, I promise. Even if you don’t think so, or they don’t- it doesn’t matter because they will.”
He rested his hands on your waist, pulling you into him. “And what if they don’t?” Sirius’s breath was hot on your face, running down your neck as he leaned in, stirring up a tingle across your skin.
“Then they have no idea what they’re missing, but either way, I love you and I always will.” You whispered into the space between your mouth and his, trying hard to not suck his bottom lip in between your teeth.
The door flew open, causing you and Sirius to jump away from each other. “Whatever it is that I just walked in on,” James said as he strolled into the room, “please do not continue on the train, which we’re going to miss if we don’t get going.”
Sirius grabbed his bag, slinging it over his shoulder, and took your hand as the both of you followed his best friend out of the dorm.
“We’ll see you after the holidays.” You called out to James, Remus, and Peter as you pulled Sirius towards the place you were supposed to meet your family. They all waved to you, snickering at their best friend’s obvious nervousness.
You glanced over at him, and he looked like he might be sick. “It’s going to be alright, just breathe.” He squeezed your hand in return, trying to find a smile.
Waiting on the other side of the platform were your parents and six-year-old sister Lena. Although you could see the look of discomfort raising in your parents’ eyes, Lena’s eyes lit up when she saw you, running right into your arms. You picked her up, spinning her around in circles.
“Y/N! I’ve missed you so much!” She squealed, hugging your neck tightly.
Setting her back on the ground, you patted her head. “I’ve missed you as well, Lenny. Look how much you’ve grown.” You smiled down at her.
The three of you continued the short walk to your parents, your sister jumping around filled with excitement.
“Y/N.” Your mother greeted you.
You cleared your throat, taking Sirius’s hand in yours once again. “Mum, dad, this is Sirius Black. My boyfriend.”
“Pleasure to meet you.” He smiled his best smile, smoothing down the front of his suit jacket as he reached out to take your fathers hand in a firm hand shake.
You father cleared his throat, eyes drifting to your mother, who took the hint and said, “Ah, yes. So lovely to meet you, Mr. Black. We were quite surprised when Y/N informed us that you’d be joining us for the holidays.”
Sirius kept his arms behind his back, dark hair falling around his face. You wished he would have wrapped his arm around your shoulders, or had taken your hand at least, but knew he was trying to be respectful, and for that you were grateful.
“I just couldn’t say no when she offered,” He smiled his big pearly smile, the one that usually got him out of trouble, and continued. “Thank you for having me, Mr. and Mrs. L/N.”
“No problem at all, dear.” You mother smiled, almost uncomfortably and she grabbed your sister by the hand, linking her other arm with your fathers. “Let us get on, then. I’d imagine the two of you would like to relax after such a long train ride.”
Your family lived in a comfortable but quite large two-story house on outskirts of Wiltshire, close to Somerset. It had been the house that you had grown up in, spent every birthday, Christmas, and summer holiday away from school. This was the only part of yourself that you had yet to share with Sirius, and the closer you got to home the more the excitement grew.
Your mother retreated to the kitchen to start on dinner, your father to his study to get ahead on his reports for the Ministry, and Lena followed you as you gave Sirius a tour of the house. She had been watching him curiously, and he would look over to her, catching her stare, to make faces at her. Her tiny giggles filled the corridors, causing smiles between the two of you.
He thought she was adorable, he hadn’t spent any time around small children, and was delighted by the way her eyes lit up in wonder. And of course, she looked just like you, which he loved almost as much as he loved to watch how you were with her. A part of him wished that the bond between his very own brother and himself were as strong, but knew that it never would be.
“Your hair is very pretty!” Her small voice rang through his ears, pulling him from his thoughts.
Sirius smiled sweetly at her, kneeling so that he was eye level with her. “Thank you, Lena. It’s very sweet of you to say so. I can let you play with it anytime you like.”
You watched as they talked to each other, a shy smile breaking out onto your sisters face as she reached out to touch Sirius’ soft dark curls.
“Y/N, dinner is ready!” Your mum called up to you, breaking the trance.
Placing your hand on Sirius’s shoulder, you looked down at your sister. “Lenny, how about I take you down to the dinner table, and we let Sirius change into something a bit more comfy, hm?”
She nodded, but before you could take her hand, she wrapped her little arms around his neck. Sirius put his hand to her back, an adorable shade of pink burning into his cheeks.
When Lena let go, you pulled him to his feet, pressing a quick chaste kiss to his full lips, “Meet you down stairs.” You grinned, leaving him to wander back towards the guest room.
Things had started off quiet, Sirius would try to speak to your dad or mum and their answers were always short. It had usually earned them each a lecture from you while Sirius was showering away the dirt and grime from a day’s worth of exploring, swimming in the spring behind your house, or teaching Lenny how to properly ride a broom. They promised to try harder to like him, but after a few days of seeing how he made you smile or Lenny laugh, they didn’t seem to have to try so hard.
On Christmas Eve, your mother pulled you from where Sirius was reading to you and Lenny over steaming mugs of cocoa. “What is it?” You had asked, looking back at the two over your shoulder, a smile perched on your lips.
Mother seemed nervous, hesitant to speak almost. “Your father and I went and picked up some gifts for Sirius, I wanted you to have a look to see if you think he’d like them.” A warm glow radiated from your chest, you hadn’t expected them to get him anything, and neither did he for that matter, though he had managed to pick each of them out a trinket on a day the two of you had spent out in town.
“You didn’t have to do that.”
“Yes well, I knew that. We just thought it would be nice, considering-” You knew she was referring to the fact that he was no longer living with or speaking to his family. “Besides, your father insisted.”
On Christmas morning you took Lenny and snuck into the darkened guest bedroom. You could see the outline of Sirius’s body stretched awkwardly across the bed, dark curls all over the place. Guiding your sister to stand right next to the bed, and whispering for her to wait, you sneaked back over to flip the switch causing light to explode within the room. Lenny jumped onto the bed, bouncing around Sirius who groaned, pulling the blanket up over his head.
“UP, UP, UP!” She shouted, her voice echoing around the bedroom, “Get up, SIRIUS!! IT’S CHRISTMAS!”
You laughed as you watched, taking a seat next to him, pulling the blanket from him. “Happy Christmas, love.” You murmured, brushing the hair from his face.
“HAPPY HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!!” Lenny giggled.
Sirius had never been woken up in such away, that at first, he had been extremely alarmed. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes, cracking them open to look at you, the smile on your face lacing warmth throughout his chest. “Happy Christmas.” His voice was groggy, still thick from sleep.
“We have to go see our presents!” Your sister demanded, trying to pull at yours and Sirius’ hands as she hopped from the bed.
You turned to find your parents smiling at the three of you from the doorway, his arm around her shoulders, both still in their sleep clothes, a tradition of every Christmas from the past. “Yes, yes. Come on now, presents and then breakfast!” Your mother declared.
Sirius let Lena pull him from the bed, holding tightly to his hand as she dragged him down the steps to the sitting room. The five of you sat around the tree, a pile a gifts in front of each of you, your sisters pile, very obviously the largest. Sirius looked at the pile in front of him, turning to eye you.
“I didn’t buy them all I swear!” You shot both of your hands into the air innocently. “There’s one of each of the boys in there.”
Your mother patted at his hand happily, “We’ve got you a couple at well, dear.” She smiled brightly at him, causing his face to go rosy all over.
The wrappings from all of the gifts had been discarded, you and Sirius were upstairs in your room, you were sat in your bed, and he was laying with his head in your lap.
“Do you like it?” He asked, as he watched you admire the silver chain adorning your wrist, a glass charm in the shape of a black dog gangling from it.
Beaming down at him, you attempted to place a kiss to his forehead, only for him to move and capture your lips with his own. “It’s absolutely perfect.” You didn’t say so in front of your parents, but you knew that the charm was to remind you of him, a tiny representation of his Animagus.
You had got for him, an enchanted pin knife, that could open almost any lock no matter if there was a charm cast on them. He had loved it, a rebellious gift for such a rebellious boy.
“We’re going to be late.” You called out, trying to rush everyone out the door.
You father clapped his hand onto Sirius’ shoulder, causing him to look up at the taller man. “I need to barrow the lad, if you can spare a minute.”
Rolling your eyes, you let out a sigh. “I suppose, just make it quick. I don’t want to miss the train.” Your mother smiled, looking from you to them, knowingly.
Your father pulled Sirius across the house, into his study. His palms started to sweat, nerves on end. He had never been alone with either of your parents, and though everything had gone rather smoothly, he couldn’t help but to start to panic.
“Sirius.” Your father said, closing the door behind him.
His stomach dropped, but managed to reply. “Yes, Mr. L/N?”
With a small laugh, you father goes towards his desk. “You can call me Oliver, no need for the formalities.” Sirius was shocked, the man in front of him had barely spoke to him when he first met him, and when he did he was frigid, now he was asking to be called by him first name.
Your dad pulled out a small box, making his way back towards Sirius, and sat on the arm of the chair. “You had probably assumed that Y/N’s mother and I weren’t exactly fond of the idea of you joining us for the holidays when we first heard the news. But as we’ve watched you with the girls over the last few weeks, we could see just how much you and our daughter love each other.” The nerves in Sirius grew still, not terribly sure where this conversation was headed. “We’ve grown extremely fond of you these last weeks, Sirius Black, and we’d be more than happy to see you join our family one day, of course, if that is the path you two decide to go down.”
He handed the small box to Sirius, pressing him to open it. Inside the box was a silver ring, old-style, and obviously an antique.
“I’d been thinking Sir, I mean- Oliver... very heavily of asking for Y/N’s hand.”
“That ring there has been in our family for ages. It’s the one my grandfather proposed to my grandmother with, and my father to my mother, and then me to my wife. We’ve been talking, and we’d like you to have it, maybe not to use now since the both of you are still in your 7th year, but you have our blessing for whenever you’re ready.”
A feeling of astonishment erupted through Sirius, as he stared at the ring. “Thank you, so much. This honestly means the world to me.” Sirius was near tears, as he tucked a piece of hair behind his ear. Never had he imagined that anyone other than the small group of friends and James’ own parents could show him so much kindness.
“SIRIUS!” Your voice came booming towards to closed door and he smiled, tucking the ring box into his pocket, awaiting the day he would get to present it to you.
Sirius Black was pacing the floor of James and Lily’s house in Godric’s Hollow. He was nervous, to say the least. He, in fact, had never been more nervous in his life. And he was about to smack the look off of James’ face.
“If you don’t wipe that look off your face, Prongs… I swear.” He started.
James let out a laugh, looking at his best friend from his spot on the couch. “Just relax, Pads. You have nothing to worry about.” He tried to reassure him, wrapping his arm around his auburn-haired wife.
Sirius stopped, and looked right at James and Lily. “But what if she says no? What if she decides she wants to move on and leave me? What if I have to give her dad the ring back?” His heart was racing in his chest.
“I really don’t think you’ve got anything to worry about. Why would she say no? She’s put up with you this long.” He laughed again. “I’ve been where you are. Trust me, it’s going to be worth it.” James pulled Lily closer to himself, smiles on both of their faces, as they glanced at the dark-haired boy napping in his lap.
Sirius continued to pace. “I really love her, mate. She’s… she’s everything to me. I really want to be with her forever.”
“Tell her that then, you silly boy!” Lily chimed in. “She’s talked about you non-stop since the day she met you.”
Her words put him at ease, if only temporarily. “Yeah, you’re right. I just have to tell her that.”
It was closing in on Halloween and there was just something about the autumn colors taking over the outside world that you loved. It was late evening and you had dragged Sirius outside for a walk through the park a few blocks over from your shared home, with ease.
Hand in hand, you in a grey cardigan and Sirius in his favorite leather jacket, made your way slowly through the footpath. It seemed very almost magical and reminded you of all of the walks that the two of you would take around the lake back at Hogwarts.
“Has it really been four years since our last year at school?” Your voice broke through the silence, startling a very distracted Sirius. “Are you alright, love?”
He cleared his throat, showing you a very awkward smile. “Oh, yes. I was just uh..- I was just a bit distracted. Got a few things on my mind is all.”
You nodded simply, “Ah, I see. Well if you wouldn’t mind, I’d like to hear what’s going on in that handsome head of yours.” His smile was much more natural when he caught your devilish grin. “But if you’d rather not say…”
“Oh, well… I would very much like to tell you.” You could feel the hand that was laced with yours start to go slick. His nervousness was becoming apparent with the way he kept trying to run his hands through his hair, forgetting that he had knotted it into a bun earlier in the day. He was starting to make you nervous.
With your brows knit together, you eyed his face, worry now blossoming on your own. “Are you alright? You’re not trying to break up with me, are you?”
Sirius’ grey eyes went wide, his feet seeming magically glued into place. His expression turned to one that came off almost angry. “How could you ever think such a thing? I’d never... I simply couldn’t. There is no one more important to me than you are.” He turned to face you, taking your face between his big, callused, warm hands to look deeply into your eyes. “Y/N, you are everything to me, everything. I love you, so much. More than I’ve ever loved anyone. I want to spent forever with you.”
Your heart started to beat violently in your chest, bats swirling in your stomach as you watched Sirius Black sink down, with one knee pressed into the damp stone path. He pulled a small box from the breast pocket of his jacket, eyes not leaving your face.
As he opened the box, you saw the antique silver ring glistening at you. Your breath caught in your throat as you looked from the ring to Sirius and back several times. “Do you remember the first time that I met your parents?” You were only able to nod in response, but you remembered like it was only yesterday. You had taken him home with you over Winter holiday for him to meet your family, and they had loved him, just like you knew that they would.
“They day that we left, to go back to school, your father pulled me into his office, I’m assuming you recall that as well. He gave me this, said it’s been passed down for generations, he even proposed to your mother with it. I’ve been holding onto this for years, waiting for the right time to use it, he said we had their blessing for whenever we decided to use it.
I’ve been thinking a lot here lately about asking, and there were many other times I’ve tried, but now just feels perfect. We’re right in the middle of a war, and- well… if anything happens to me, I’d just like to know that you’ll have my name, and me. So... uh- Will you marry me?”
Grabbing Sirius by the collar of his jacket, you pull him up to eye level, smashing your lips into his. His arms snaked around your waist, the box still in one hand. When he pulled away from you, he looked down, like he was trying to read your face. “So?”
“Yes! Merlin, what did you expect me to say?” You let out a laugh as Sirius scooped you up into his arms, spinning you around in circles, laughing himself.
Everything was perfect.
Laying across the bed, you looked up at the ceiling, the tearstains running down your face were starting to itch. This was not something that you’d been hoping for.
How did everything turn out to be so wrong, how did you end up so alone. Sirius had only just asked you to spend your life with him, the happiest moment of your life, a week ago. But it seemed so much longer. It was the First of November, just yesterday James and Lily, two of your best friends, were murdered by You-Know-Who, and Sirius was standing on trial for that and the death of Peter. But he was innocent. He just had to be, you knew better than anyone that James was his brother, even if they weren’t blood. He’d never betray his friends, it wasn’t like him. But you also knew that it was Peter that was the Potter’s Secret Keeper. And now they wanted to send him away to Azkaban, the most cruel punishment in Wizarding history.
Just a week ago everything was perfect, and now everything was wrong. Even now, finding out that you and Sirius were expecting a child. The world was cruel. Of course you would keep the baby, despite the timing. This child would be all that you would have of the man that you love, if only… you had to find a way to tell him. Maybe Dumbledore could pass on a message.
Summery: You comfort Remus after a loud argument with James.
Word Count: 1097
Somehow, the loud voices of James and Remus filtered through the crack under the door to your room. It took a second before you realized that they were shouting at each other. Your head shot up, eyes locking with Lily’s green ones, the both of you shot up from your beds, you reached for the cool door knob, threw the door open, and chased Lily down the stairs that lead to the Common Room.
You’d hit the last step in just enough time to catch James storming out, The Fat Lady slamming behind him. “I’ll go after him.” Lily said quietly, with a roll of her eyes. You nodded in return, eyes sweeping the room until you found Remus curled up on the couch.
As Lily shot off after James, you headed towards the Remus. Carefully you sat down, lifting his head to set in your lap, running your fingers through his hair. “Wanna talk about it?” You had always preferred to approach Remus this way, apposed to simply asking him what was going on with him. Remus had always been more of a comforter himself, and didn’t often like to talk about his own problems.
“No.” He said, which honestly, had not surprised you. Remus buried his face into your lap, letting out a sigh.
Continuing to play with his hair, you spoke to him gently. “If you change your mind you know I’ll always listen.” Remus made a ‘hmm’ sound, but continued to mope. Not knowing what else to do, you continued to talk. “I heard that Marlene damn near burnt her eyebrows off in potions today.”
Remus moved his head so that you could hear him speak clearly. “That was Peter’s fault. Sirius was making a mickey out of him since he fancies her. He dropped the wrong ingredient into their cauldron.”
You can’t help but let out a loud, sharp laugh, and you can feel Remus’ body move as he chuckles alongside you. “Poor Peter.” You said, when you were able to breathe again.
“Poor Peter?” Remus laughs, sitting up. “Poor Marlene. She was quite embarrassed. Mary and Lily went with her to the loo to see if they could get her sorted.”
Shaking your head, you couldn’t help but smile. And at least Remus was doing alright, for now anyway. “I bet Sirius had a good laugh at that” You sighed, “He can be such a twat sometimes, and I’m sure he knew nothing good would come out of teasing Peter. Marlene makes it quite obvious that she’s into Sirius.”
“Have you seen the way the girls around here look at him?” Remus asked, shaking his own head. “Who doesn’t fancy him?”
You could feel an uncomfortable warmth move from the depths of your belly up into your chest. Looking across the couch at Remus, you wished that he’d still been laying out with his head in your lap. “You mean besides Lily?”
“Lily can’t even stand him half the time. I’m sure if James hadn’t been after her so long, Sirius would turn chasing her into a challenge.” Remus seemed to be looking right into you as he spoke, as if he was testing you.
“She’d kill him, hang him out off the highest tower of the castle by his pinky toes.” You smiled, trying to break the tension you felt. “I don’t see what they find so interesting about him honestly, but maybe it’s just because we’re mates, that I can see how scummy his whole thing is with the girls.”
Remus let out another laugh. “You think Sirius is scummy?”
Shrugging you told him, “Well, don’t get me wrong. I love Sirius, I do. I understand his need of attention, and his flaunting, but all the girls…it’s really not my thing. I prefer a more stable type of relationship, I think. I might only be sixteen and I still have my whole life ahead of me or whatever, but I don’t see the point in something like what he has to offer.”
“So, what then?” Remus asked, still not taking his eyes from your face.
Blushing, you turned away from his intense gaze, “What do you mean?” You asked, focusing on the flames burning in the fireplace.
“Well, if you’re not into a guy like Sirius, which isn’t complicated to understand in the slightest, what would you prefer?”
“Are you trying to have girl talk with me Remus? You know that’s why I keep Lily around.” You force a laugh as you watch his face start to turn various shades of pink and red as he gets flustered. “It’s alright, Rem.”
He crossed his long arms over his chest and moved his focus to a group of girls studying in the corner of the Common Room. “I prefer more serious boys, mind the pun.” You smile. “I think I’d like a boy that’d be dedicated to just me, obviously. One that… well, the best thing I can think to say is that I’d like a boy like you.”
Slowly, as the words slipped from your lips, Remus turned his head to look back at you. “A boy like me?”
“Or…you. I’d like to think I could see myself with you.” Your eyes locked onto his and you refused to break contact, though your face had heated up and was probably bright red.
He cleared his throat, “You fancy me?” Remus asked. “I think I could see us.”
The corners of your mouth turned up into a smile, “Really?” You asked, a little too excitedly.
Remus scooted over next to you, slinging his arm around you shoulder, sending nervous shivers down your back. This wasn’t even close to the first time you’d sat like that with him, but something in the gesture felt different. “James has been telling me for months to tell you, but I didn’t want to mess things up, Hell... I wasn’t even sure that you’d want to be with someone like me.” You knew he’d been talking about his condition.
You turned to look at him, eyebrows knit together. “What kind of person do you take me for, Remus? Do you honestly think that I couldn’t ever love you because of something that you can’t control?” Grabbing his face between your fingers, you force him to look you in the face. “I have liked you since third year and finding out your secret didn’t do a thing to change that, nor will it ever. Do you understand me?”
He smiled, leaning forward to press a soft kiss to the tip of your nose. “Yes, I understand.”
A/N: This is the ONLY Harry in my archive. A shorty, but its cute and cheesy af.
Summery: Harry sticks up for you in potions and now you BOTH have detention.
Word Count: 786
Professor Snape was awful. He made potions unbearable for you and you never really found yourself wanting to go. Especially when he was having an exceptionally fun time picking on you. Which, honestly was most of the time.
“Maybe if you paid attention in class, you would know the answer.” His black eyes zeroed in on you, as you sat quietly.
The sound of a chair scooting back caught everyone’s attention, including Snape. Glancing around, you saw that Harry Potter was standing, looking right at you. “She does pay attention in class, you just seem to favor picking on her.”
“Mr. Potter, sit down.” Snape ordered through gritted teeth.
Turning your head, you look back to find Hermione pulling on his sleeve, trying to get him to sit down. You widen your eyes and raise your brows, mouthing, ‘Please just sit!’, but he ignores the both of you. “I won’t sit down! You’re being unfair, and she doesn’t deserve it!”
“I will not have you speak to me that way, Mr. Potter. You’ve landed the both of you a week’s detention,” Harry started to speak, but Snape continued, “another word and it’ll be a month.”
You let out a long sigh, letting your head fall back.
You’d gotten to detention early, and were waiting on Harry, who came rushing in three minutes late, per usual.
“Hey, Harry.” You waved to him.
“I’m really sorry I got you stuck with detention.” He frowned, walking over to where you were standing in front of all of the dirty vials, cauldrons, and ingredient bottles.
Shrugging, you slipped on a pair of gloves. “Don’t worry about it, I appreciate that you tried to stick up for me, at least. No one ever has before.” You offered him a small smile. “Snape said he’d be back in an hour, but we’re supposed to clean all of this by hand.”
He rolled his eyes, but slipped on a pair of gloves as well, taking a brush to scrub out one of the cauldrons. “I was getting tired of it honestly. You of all people shouldn’t be getting picked on.”
You could feel the tips of your ears start to get warm. “Thanks, Harry.” You’d had a bit of a crush on Harry since your second year, and he always seemed to say something that would bring on a blush.
It was quiet for a few minutes, you wanted to talk to him, you just didn’t want to make a fool out of yourself. “The detention’s not so bad, if you’ve got company.”
“I bet you’d still rather be off with Hermione and Ron.” You didn’t take your eyes off of the vile in your hands, looking closely to make sure it was extra clean.
You didn’t see the smile growing on his face. “I don’t mind being in here with you.” His voice was just a bit quieter than normal, which had gotten your attention. Turning to look at him, you noticed he wasn’t looking at you, but the side of his face was awfully red. “Hermione talks about you a lot, she says you study together in the library.”
It seemed as if he was suddenly trying to change the subject. “Yeah, we do homework and study together. She’s a rather good friend of mine.”
“I think she might like it if you were around more, with me and Ron as well.”
You raised your brow, a large smile lighting up your entire face. “Would you like if I was around more, Harry?” The words spilt from your mouth before you could stop them, and left you with an echo of bravery. Turning your head to look back at him over your shoulder, you see that he’s gone completely still. “Hermione told me that you talk about me sometimes.”
If it was at all possible, his face got more red. “I do, actually.” He admitted, turning to look at you. “Would you maybe want to go with me to the Three Broomsticks, next Hogsmeade weekend?”
You could feel the corners of your mouth pull back, stretching you lips into a wide smile. Harry had taken a step closer to you, and then you to him, almost like there was an elastic tightening around the two of you. “I think that that would be nice, I’d love to go with you.”
When all of the space between you was gone, Harry, who also had a large smile on his face, leaned down and pressed his lips very gently to yours, leaving you with a feather light kiss. When he tried to pull away, you pulled him back down for another. When you let him go, the both of you were still smiling.

Fred Weasley had been watching his girlfriend with an extremely bitter look on his face. Not that she noticed. She wouldn’t stop talking about Cormac. Cormac this and Cormac that. Look at his hair! Look at his hands! She went on and on, and quite frankly, this Weasley was getting rather pissed off.
“What the bloody hell is so great about Mclaggen?” He spit, arms crossed over his chest.
George, Fred’s twin looked over at him, brow cocked. “What are you going on about over there, Freddie?” He asked.
“What am I going on about! What is she going on about? All she’s talked about since she started eating, is Cormac.” Fred huffed, stabbing at his pile of eggs.
“Sounds like you’re a bit jealous.” George laughed. Fred shot him a glare, before standing up from the table.
“Y/N.” He called, trying to get his girlfriend’s attention. Her eyes were glued to the blonde boy across the table, a smile wide on her face. Fred placed his hand on her shoulder, pulling her attention from Cormac back to him. “Come on, we’ve got to get to class.” He said through gritted teeth.
“But I –” She looked at him with a pout.
Shaking his head at her, he reached for her hand, tugging on it lightly. “I’m sure you’ll see that tosser around somewhere.”
She stood with a defeated look on her face following Fred to class.
As the day went on, he couldn’t seem to get his mind off of his girlfriend’s current obsession. He had been with Y/N for three years, and she had never shown any sort of interest in him whatsoever. In fact, he could only remember conversations between the two where she had talked about her distaste for him. What happened? What had changed?
He made his way back into the Gryffindor Common Room, to find Y/N with her back to the wall, twirling her hair around her finger as Cormac leaned over her whispering things in her ear with a sultry smirk on his face.
The sound of his girlfriend giggling pushed him over the edge. Fred stomped over to where they were, face as red as his hair. She didn’t seem to notice him standing angrily next to her, but Cormac did.
“Can I help you, mate?” He asked, looking over at him, irritation covering his face.
“That’s my girlfriend and you bloody well know it.” He huffed, reaching for her.
Cormac pushed himself up off of the wall, hands up defensively. “She came onto me, Freddie boy, not the other way around. Looks like she’s changed her mind about you, aye.” He winked at Y/N, a flush took over her face.
Fred pulled Y/N away by her robes, carefully so that he wouldn’t hurt her, and dragged her up the stairs to his dorm. He stood in front of her, looking over her. “He didn’t do anything to you did he? He didn’t touch you or hurt you at all?” He asked, as he continued his inspection.
Y/N pulled herself from his grip. “Why does it matter? I like Cormac.” She said, shooting Fred a nasty glare.
“It matters because you’re my girlfriend, at least have the decency to break things off before you try and get on with someone else.” He said to her, “You’re acting like you’re under a spell.”
And then it hit him. Fred stepped closer to Y/N, who had taken a step back from him before, and held her face between his palms. Her eyes were slightly glazed over, as if there was a very faint film over them. His blood started to boil under is skin.
He let Y/N go, turning his back on her to her as he stormed out of his dorm and down the stairs back into Common Room.
Fortunately, Hermione, Harry, and his own younger brother Ron were the first people his eyes landed on. Making his way over to them, he looked right at Hermione. “Y/N has been given a love potion, can you please fix her?” He nearly begged.
Hermione’s eyes went wide, as she closed the book in her lap. “Yes of course, is she?” She asked pointing towards the boy’s dorms.
“Yes, she’s in my dorm. Thank you so much, we owe you the world.” He grinned at her, turning to search the room with his eyes. As soon as he spotted the blonde boy, he set off in his direction.
It took everything Fred had to keep from swinging at the boy, instead grabbing him up by the collar of his shirt. “When’d you do it? And why?” Fred demanded.
Cormac looked terrified. “What are you talking about?” He whimpered.
“You slipped Y/N a love potion. Trying something on her, where you?” His voice was low, full of rage. “How?”
“I’m sorry! I slipped it into her pumpkin juice.”
Red flashed before Fred’s eyes, until Ron’s voice broke through, pulling him back. “Fred, he’s not worth it. Just let him go.” His hand was clasped over Fred’s shoulder, trying to pull him back. “She wouldn’t want you to do this.”
Fred relaxed his hands, letting Cormac go. “You ever so much as look at her again, and you’ll wish you hadn’t.” He spit at him, letting Ron pull him back across the Common Room and up the stairs to his dorm.
“She’s alright, Hermione fixed her right up. She’s asked for you.”
As soon as the door opened, Y/N jumped up off of the bed, running right into Fred’s arms. He wrapped his arms around her warm body, holding onto her tightly.
“I’m so sorry! I couldn’t- it all felt like a dream.” She cried into his shoulder.
Pulling back just enough to look at her face, he let his eyes wander across it, taking her in. “It’s not your fault love. Cormac’s an idiot, he’ll never touch you again.”
“Cormac?” Y/N’s brows knit together, anger filling her eyes. “I’ll kill him myself.” She growled. Fred could only laugh, he adored how much she resembled a little ball of fire, before pulling her into himself to press a kiss to her lips.
Draco looked at his watch, worry creasing his forehead. The ball was going to be starting any minute, everyone had seemed to show up already. Everyone one that is except for you. He’d been nervous enough as it was, Draco had never been to a formal dance with a girl he’d liked before. The idea of you ditching him had nausea brewing in the dark pits of his belly.
He couldn’t keep himself from pacing, the music was starting, but there had still been no sight of you. One last glance at his watch, and he reluctantly turned to go back to his common room.
As the hurried clicked echoed around him, he spun back around to find you rushing towards him, his mouth hanging wide open at the sight before him.
You hadn’t expected it to take so long to get ready. You’d been dying to finally wear your dress since your mum had sent it to you. It was the most beautiful thing you had ever seen.
It was a floor-length ball gown, in the soft color of blush. It had an illusion neck line with cap sleeves, covered in crystal embellishments. The dress was made of lace and tulle, pairing perfectly with the black pumps you had found in another box in your package.
Dressing hadn’t actually taken that long, it was trying to perfect your hair and makeup that had caused you to run late. And upon glancing at the clock hanging next to your wardrobe, a panic set into your belly, and you left in a rush, very nearly running towards the Great Hall. Just in time too, it had seemed. Draco had his head bowed, hands in his pockets, and he looked like he was walking back towards his common room. The click of your heels echoed around the entrance hall, and he turned, hope full on his face, to find you running towards him.
You were the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. Your hair was only slightly less than perfect, blown around while you were running and you were breathing heavily. Draco had never seen anything more perfect in his life.
“I’m so sorry that I’m late.” The apology slipped through your lips, but he wasn’t concerned with it, he was just glad that you had showed up at all.
“I was starting to think you’d changed your mind about me.” He said, looking down at you.
You let out a laughed, cupping his face in your hand. “Have you ever met yourself, Malfoy? That’s impossible.” He smiled, offering his arm.
“Shall we?”
“Fashionably late, as always.” You nodded, taking his arm and gliding together into the Great Hall.
The first dance that had consisted of the competitors from the Tournament, was over, and all eyes were on you, clinging to Draco’s side. Any hope that you had had of sneaking in, lost.
“They’re staring...” you whispered, face lite up in a brilliant shade of rose.
“Let them.” He pulled you into him, one hand at the small of you back, the other holding yours as he began to twirl with you around the room.
“Have I told you how absolutely stunning you are?” Draco’s breath tickling your ear sent shivers down your spine.
“Only about twenty-six times, but I could do with a twenty-seventh.”
It felt as though you and Draco had been dancing for hours, your heels long abandoned under a table somewhere. One by one most all of the other dancers left, growing tired as the night faded into early morning.
Laughing, your arm once again wrapped around Draco’s, you exited the Great Hall. “Ah, this is the best night I’ve had in a long time.”
“I agree,” his smiled was soft, and reached his eyes. “You know, it doesn’t have to be over yet.”
“What does that mean?” You asked. The soft smile on his face had turned up into a very mischievous grin.
His hand traced down your arm lightly, reaching for your hand and lacing his long slender fingers with yours.
Draco said nothing else, only turning to smile at you when you would laugh and ask where he was taking you.
He stopped suddenly, pulling you into the court yard. “I was thinking of taking you up to the astronomy tower or the lake, but everyone seems to go there.”
“What if we get caught?” You asked, spinning to look at him full on. “I’ve never had detention before.”
He couldn’t take his eyes off of you in the moon light, too beautiful to be real, he must have been dreaming. Draco could see the goosebumps forming on your bare arms and shrugged off his coat, wrapping it around your shoulders.
It was so warm and smelled just like him, you noticed as you had breathed in.
“I wouldn’t worry too much about that, darling. The only one who might find us is Filtch, he’s the least of our problems.”
He was watching you, setting butterflies loose in your belly. You didn’t want to look away from him, finding the way the moonlight looked on him, making him almost glow, but it had almost seemed overwhelming, too unreal. This could never happen to you.
The sky was beautiful, it had been just dark enough to see the stars that glittered the Scottish sky above you. “The view is breathtaking.” Your voice had been barely above a whisper, afraid to shatter the effect of it all.
“Yes, it is.” Draco stepped towards you, pulling you into his chest, his hand caressing your face and he stared into the depths of your eyes.
“Twenty-eight.” A smile twitched at the edge of your lips. You didn’t want to blink or look away from him. This moment, standing here with Draco, was so much more magical that you could have ever imagined.
“I’m going to try something.” He announced, as he craned his neck down to press his mouth full onto yours. Much to your surprise, his lips were soft, though he kept them pressed firmly against your own. Fireworks exploded inside of you, filling you to the brim with happiness. His had that had been caressing your face, now cradled your head, as he deepened the kiss. You felt like you could do this forever, just standing there, kissing him. Minutes or hours or weeks later, when you had finally separated from him, your lungs were burning, gasping for air. All you could managed, was to smile at each other.

The year was 1945, it was the end of your last year in Hogwarts, and you had given up on trying to get your boyfriends attention. His brown eyes were set on something only he could see and, as usual, he seemed ever so bored. Sometimes you wondered how you ended up in this situation.
You had loved him. That you were certain of. That wasn’t surprising of course, not only was he absolutely gorgeous, lucky you, his tongue was made of silver. It didn’t take much, it seemed, for him to get whatever it was that he wanted, and for some reason that you had yet to figure out, one of those things had been you. He never really acted like he loved you, he never really seemed to love anything, but for some other unknown reason you couldn’t keep away from him. He walked the corridors at your side, sat next to you in class, and though he wasn’t very affectionate, would leave little pecks across your cheek bones, on the top of your head, and on his best days, he would press a brief kiss to your mouth.
Everyone assumed you would be with him forever, and they weren’t wrong, not exactly. A part of him would stay with you forever.
“What do you mean a student’s been taken?” You asked. Looking at the other professors. So far, all year, students had been petrified left and right, there was nothing that anyone could do. That’s what everyone had thought, but you knew better.
“It’s Ginny Weasley. We’re going to have to close down the school.” Professor McGonagall whispered.
You knew he was there, you could sense him. Harry Potter, the boy who live.
The rest of the teachers talked amongst each other, Snape telling you all that Lockhart had said he knew where the chamber was. But how had he found it? You knew. The whole time you knew, but you tried you hardest to leave your past behind you. Gilderoy took off towards his classroom, keeping quiet and far enough back so he couldn’t see you, you followed him.
He was packing, trying to leave. Harry and another student you’d shared, Ron Weasley, the missing girls older brother, were talking to him, trying to get him to stay.
“-my books wouldn’t have sold half as well if people didn’t think I’d done those things.” Gilderoy said as you burst into his office.
Everyone looked up at you, standing there in the door way. “I bloody knew it!” You said, folding your arms across your chest. “There’s no way you could have done all of those things, and you’re a terrible teacher.”
“And you’ve just taken credit for what other Wizards have done!” The dark-haired boy shouted at him.
He tried to threaten you, all of you, which had been a mistake on his part. The three of you pointed your wands at him, and you looked down towards the boys.
“I know where the chamber is, and I know how to get in.” Both Harry and Ron looked at you, mouths agape. “It’s quite a long story, I’ll explain it later.”
You reached over and grabbed Lockhart by his coat, shoving him in front of you, as you walked in that direction.
The three of you got to Moaning Myrtle’s bathroom, which you had avoided for so long. Shoving Lockhart in front of you, with the Harry and Ron following, you could all hear Myrtle doing what she did best.
“Who’s there?” She demanded, “Oh, hello Harry.” She said as she floated down towards the lot of you. “It’s you!”
Honestly, you’d hoped that she wouldn’t recognize you, but of course you’d been wrong. “Myrtle.”
She came towards you, looking you up and down. “How do you look exactly the same?”
“You know Moaning Myrtle?” Ron asked, looking between the two of you.
You nodded, looking away from her, guilt building in your stomach. “We went to school at the same time. She was a Ravenclaw in her fourth year and I was a Slytherin in my fifth.”
“Olive was one of your little followers! She picked on me to impress you because of that boyfriend of yours.” Myrtle whined. She wasn’t wrong, and it still bothered you that you were probably the reason she was dead.
“Is what she’s saying the truth Professor?” Harry asked.
Nodding, you turned to look at him, and he and Ron were guarding Gilderoy. “Yes, every word. I was dating Tom Riddle, I know you’ve seen him Harry. I’ve seen you with his diary.” His green eyes widened. “I know how it sounds, but it’s true. Olive teased Myrtle about her glasses to fit in with us. Tom was after all, the most attractive boy in school, and he had a way with words. But Myrtle ran into the bathroom crying and she never came out.”
“But Professor,” Ron looked at you, his eyes squinted like he was trying to see through you and not at you. “That was fifty years ago, you certainly don’t look..”
“65? Yes, well... I am. I just... haven’t really aged. It’s another long story.” Pointing towards the sinks you said, “That’s is Harry. That’s the entrance. You have to speak to it.”
“Speak to it?” He asked, looking at me, and then back at Ron.
Ron’s face lite up, just as the thought came to him. “Say something Harry, say something in Parseltongue.” I nodded encouragingly as I watched him lean over and whisper in the snake language. ‘Open’ he said, and the sink started to move apart.
We ended up having to push Lockhart down into the hole that appeared in the floor, and we each followed.
The place looked awful, rubble one the floor, a giant snake skin left from a long time ago. You looked around, the entire place looked like it was made from tunnels, just as it always had. You wondered away, from a moment looking for the right path. There was a crash and a rumble, you ran back towards Harry to find that rock had fallen barricading the two of you, from Ron and Lockhart.
“What do we do now?” Ron asked.
You looked at Harry, and then back to the wall of stone. “See if you can move any of these rocks, I’ll take Harry and we’ll go find Ginny. We’ll be back as soon as we can.” Harry nodded at you in agreement. “Come on, this way.”
He followed you to the door that was made up of snakes and together you hissed at it. One by one the snakes moved out of the way, and the door opened. “Go on, I’ll go behind you.”
There was a long path leading to the giant sculpture of Salazar’s head, the entire thing lined with giant serpent heads. Carefully, you walked together, until Harry spotted the little red-haired girl and took off running.
“GINNY!” He shouted.
You took off after him, looking for it, “Harry, WAIT!”
He was on the floor, on his knees beside her, talking to her quietly. “Please don’t be dead. Wake up, Ginny. WAKE UP!”
“She won’t wake.” The voice drifted from the opposite end of the path. His voice. It had been so long since the last time that you had heard it, but it had sounded exactly as you remembered it.
You looked at him, watched as he walked out, straight as a bored, hands behind his back. He still looked perfect.
“Tom?” Harry asked, squinting. “What do you mean she won’t- she’s not dead is she?”
You stepped in front of Harry and Ginny, putting yourself in between them and Tom. “Don’t listen to him Harry.” You whispered.
For a minute, Tom seemed to ignore you, still looking directly at the boy. “She’s still alive, but only just.”
Harry turned to look back at the Weasley girl. “Don’t die! Wake up, wake up.” He pleaded with her.
“Tom,” You warned. “Stay away from them.”
That caught his attention. He looked right at you, the same brown eyes that you knew you’d never be able to forget. “Y/N, you haven’t changed a bit.” He smirked at you.
“I might look the same, but I’m not the same person you knew.” Glaring, you had your wand raised to his chest. “You’re not going to hurt anyone else Tom.”
“You’re too late,” He laughed. “Every minute she grows weaker, and I grow stronger.”
Harry looked at him, betrayal set into his green eyes. “You did it all! You framed Hagrid, you’re the reason Ginny in here!”
“It’s so much more than that Harry.” You said, peaking back at him. “He’s the heir of Slytherin, he set the basilisk on the muggleborn students fifty years ago, and now. He’s the reason I’m like this.”
“You could live forever, Y/N.” Tom was looking deep into your eyes. “If you come back to my side, we can be together forever.”
“No. I’m done with you, with what you’ve become.” You spit at him. “Harry, a long time ago, Tom used me, for my pure-blood status, for more than that as well, I’m sure. He did something to me, I don’t know what exactly, but he did something to keep me this way. In fifty years, I have hardly aged. He’s done so many awful things, and now he’s after you. He’s Voldemort, Harry.”
“What?”
Tom let out a laugh, looking at the three of you. “You’ve always been ungrateful.” Next he spoke directly to Harry, “I wasn’t going to keep my filthy muggle fathers name.” And he spelt his name out, and rearranged the letters for Harry to see.
He called to the Basilisk, and it came right for us, right for Harry. “You stay here and protect Ginny!” He called out to you.
“Harry no! You’re the student, I’m the teacher! I should be protecting you.” You shouted after him.
“I’m the one he’s after, not you! Just take care of her, don’t look up!” And he was gone. Keeping your head down, you focused on talking to the girl as if she could hear you, eyes closed tightly. In the back ground, you could hear Harry and the giant serpent. You heard what sounded like a bird, the flapping of wings and screeches, and then something fell to the ground. Looking over, you saw the sorting hat laying alone. There were more screeches, looking towards the sound you saw Fawkes, Dumbledore’s phoenix scratching at the Basilisk’s eyes blinding it.
Harry had run back over to the two of you, trying to talk to the girl, when the snake came back, listening for him. The sorting hat started to sparkle, something had appeared in the hat. “It’s the sword of Gryffindor, Harry take it.”
You watched his battle, screamed out for the poor boy when one of the giant teeth sunk into his skin, but still he made his way back to you.
Ginny was getting colder, Tom was gloating about how he was going to win. “You could have been spared, you know.” He said to you. You were trying to keep him distracted, as you kick the diary back towards Harry.
“Death would be a small price to pay,” You called back to him. “I wish I had never met you.”
As he thrust the fang into the book, Tom screamed, fading away. If it had been fifty years ago, your heart would have shattered. You felt nothing as you saw his memory die.
You turned to find Ginny seated, near tears and apologizing. “It’s alright Ginny.” Harry tried to comfort her, clutching at his arm. “Go with Professor L/N, find Ron.”
“We’re not leaving you here alone Harry.” You said rather firmly. “I should have been helping you. You shouldn’t die this way.”
The caw of the phoenix rand through the chamber again, as he swooped down to perch himself on Harry, dropping a single tear into his wound. Right before our eyes, he started to heal.
“How could I forget?” I asked, mostly to myself. “Phoenix tears can cure most anything.”
You stood up, both you and Ginny helping to carry Harry out from the Chamber of Secrets, hopefully never to return.
