Hii so i was hoping to request Tom riddle x Hufflepuff fem!reader. Sheโs kinda dumb and ditzy and Tom gets assigned to be her tutor for potions (so kinda similar to the last one sorry.)
I understand if you donโt want to do the same plot again but i wouldnโt mind a Tom x Hufflepuff reader either!!.
thank you!

summary: Hitting a brick wall in potions class is tough for y/n who tries her hardest to keep her grades up. Lucky she got assigned a tutor..
mentions: tension, Tom Riddle x reader, slowburn, unexpected ending?
"D"- Dreadful, may repeat the subject.
One after another, poor you. You couldn't figure out what was wrong with your brewing technique, and your potions teacher was no help at all.
These past 3 weeks have been the most horrible ever. You kept your nose in books all day long, but somehow nothing was satisfactory for your teacher.
The humiliation was brutal, calling out your name in the middle of class to ask you a simple question, which, once again, you had no idea what was the answer to it.
The bells ring, signalling the end of the class.
"L/N, hold on for a minute." She says, her voice as cold as ever.
You drop your books back on the desk with a huff, you couldn't stand this woman.
Walking up to her desk, you wait..
After a minute of verifying other student's tests she finally takes off her reading glasses and looks up at you.
"You're failing," She says bluntly.
No really? We couldn't tell, thank Merlin she was here to acknowledge that!
But she bursts your bubble of thoughts: "You do realise you're not gonna pass my class, do you?"
You wanted to give her a taste of her own medicine, but that would truly fail you.
"Yes, ma'am." You answer softly.
"Fortunately, you have one last chance. I've had multiple students like you in this classroom over all these years." She stands up, her posture straight, walking along the wooden stairs.
"I'm going to assign you a tutor. The Head Boy of the Slytherin house." She says and your jaw drops.
Tom Riddle? Is she joking?
If someone was dying he wouldn't have lifted a finger to help.
She gives you a freezing cold look: "You better listen to him and do what you have to do."
After a bit you walk out of the classroom.
Yeah, you had some issues (the least you could call them), but that didn't mean you really needed a tutor.
And even if you did need one, how could she possibly choose Tom Riddle?
This had to be a cruel joke..
Well, it can't be helped. Might aswell just comply and make the best out of this!
You were a solar person, people liked being around you. It couldn't be THAT hard to make yourself likeable in the Head Boy's eyes.
Not as that was important.. right?
Next day, right after potions, your teacher finally announces Tom about the tutoring arrangements.
He held a stern look, not showing any sign of disagreement.
You were waiting in the hallway for him, hoping the conversation between the two of them would finish already so you can at least settle a date to study.
He finally walks out, doesn't notice you right away.
You walk besides him, a bright smile appearing on your face.
He stops walking and turns to face you.
"Do you need help?" He asks, giving you a look that hinted annoyance.
"Uh.. yeah! I think you may know you have to tutor someone in potionsโuh, well-that's me." You say, stuttering like never. Not that you were nervous or something, he was just so damn intimidating.
"I know. Y/N, right?" He asks, but it seemed he already knew the answer.
He continues: "I'll see you this evening at 6. Potions classroom, don't be late."
You don't get to answer him, he turns and walks away with steady steps.
You sigh, this is going to suck..
-> that evening you walk up the stairs to the Potion classroom, you had your bag with you. Advanced potion book, lota of herbs, your handmirror and wand.
You gently open the door to reveal Tom sitting on a chair near a table with a cauldron and lots of other herbs on it, contaminating the air with the multitude of scents.
"You're late." He stated, his eyes looking through you.
"By 3 minutes." You smile sheepish.
"Sit down. We do not have the whole night, Y/N." He stands up, giving you his seat.
Such a gentleman, right?
That's the way lots of girls portraited him. An intelligent, "high-quality" and arrogant man. But he was such a gentleman sometimes.
The lesson doesn't pass by as the ordinary classes, you mess up the potion 3 times, twice from the beginning, yet he doesn't lose patience.
He repeats himself again and again, you keep asking the same questions again and again.
And it couldn't be helped, because both of you knew you weren't pretending.
You actually had no idea what you were doing.
"But the book saysโ"
"It doesn't matter what the book says. You have no skill whatsoever the book won't magically help you understand the right order."
You sigh dramatically.
"I'm never gonna pass this class" you groan.
"Not if you keep being impatient." He snapped.
"How did you spend all these years in this school if you have no idea how to make a simple potion?" He added.
"Not everyone is good at everything, Riddle!" You exclaimed, frustration getting the best out of you.
"With that mindset you'll never be good at anything." He stated, his words going right through your heart like needles.
"You don't know anything about me Riddle." You say, small tears forming in your eyes.
The silence is horrible, his words? Worse..
You finish the potion after a while, seems like 4th try is a lucky try.
You gather your stuff, your hand going in to get your book from the desk.
But he's faster.
"Tomorrow, same time."
He orders, not an affirmation, not asking. Just ordering.
"I thought it was only for today." You say, confused.
"You need more work, you also need to understand you won't need this book anymore." He holds up the potions book, like it was the most useless thing in the world.
"That's the curriculum, Tom." You scrunch your nose in annoyance.
"Do you want more than just an A in this class? This book won't do it. You're not taylored for books yet, you need guidance."
You swallowed your words..
He was right, after all.
You were no good.
"Fine, tomorrow." You say, forcing a smile, not as bright as your real ones.
You walked out of the class, ready to head towards the Hufflepuff common room.
Unfortunately for you..
You didn't notice the Head Boy in the shadows, watching you from afar..

author's note: this calls for a part II, so I'll do it. It's actually fun to make these kind of stuff ngl. I was on about making another slowburn (that wasn't really slow) but I thought I'd twist it around a bit..
