Also I’m not trans, so I’m going off friend’s experiences and my experiences coming out. Please let me know if something’s wrong, I don’t want to upset people and I want to learn from my mistakes <3 I hope I did this ask justice
At first he was really afraid. Reko’s the most important person in the world to him, he doesn’t want her to reject him once she knows he’s a boy. But at the same time... It hurt that the most important person in his life was unknowingly calling him the wrong name and pronouns.
He knew it wasn’t a requirement to tell her. It’s not like he was obligated to, but he didn’t want to hide who he was. He hated having to go through life pretending to be someone he’s not. He hated the sinking feeling in his chest whenever she introduced him to someone as her sister. That’s not who he is.
When he got into high school, he cut his hair short. Even though it wasn’t a huge change, it made him feel so much more comfortable in a body that was changing in the wrong way.
He was 17 when he decided to come out. He was terrified coming out to his parents, especially being a minor. He knew he needed to have his sister to lean on.
There were so many ways he could think of to do it, but he wasn’t sure. Whenever they were alone he tried to say it, but couldn’t work himself up enough to actually get the words out.
He wrote her a letter instead.
It wasn’t super long, pretty to the point. His name is Alice, he uses he/him pronouns, and he’s her brother. He always has been, always will be. He loves her and wants her to love him too.
She ran to find him once she read the letter, realizing he’d left the room quickly, not wanting to stay for the aftermath.
Once she found him, she gave him the tightest hug in the world. They didn’t stop hugging for a long time. Alice was much more comfortable now, able to come out to his parents with his sister by his side.
She’s his biggest support in his transition, always a shoulder to cry on and someone willing to listen and get mountains of fast food with.
She reassures him that he’s valid and worthy of love, and even though she doesn’t personally understand it, she tries her best. She reads articles and stories written by trans people about the experiences they’ve had, wanting to do her research without asking him questions that may offend or upset him.
Good sibling love!! Wholesome and happy, they both feel safe and secure being out to one another.
