Can we talk about this for a second?

This is a new YouTube webseries that, while not getting really recognized, was under the New York Comiccon tag. I figured I’d watch it because I am attending NYCC this year. These guys call themselves “referees” and plan on going around New York Comiccon, judging cosplayers. In fact, they specifically mention plans to call out overweight cosplayers, and they mock a wonderful Harley Quinn cosplayer because she can’t do a complete split.

Are you kidding me right now? What makes you think YOU have the right to judge another person’s cosplay? ESPECIALLY if you’re walking around in a Halloween store referee outfit. They have put hard work and effort into their cosplays and are having fun, why are you trying to go around and ruin it?

Stay safe at cons this year, especially at NYCC. Make sure you stay aware if others are filming you without your consent. They have footage of cosplayers without their knowledge, as they mock them. If someone is filming you and makes you uncomfortable, alert a staff member. Just so that they have a face to recognize if a larger incident occurs. If you’re attending NYCC and guys in referee outfits approach you, try to walk away from them. I recommend not even bothering to talk to them.
