Spring 2015 at Laura Ashley...
One of my all time favourite ranges from Laura Ashley, Aviary Garden in fresh apple green, has been expanded for the Spring/Summer 2015 catalogue to include decorating finishes such as drawer pulls and (completely brand new to Laura Ashley) a patterned paint roller, and a selection of matching finishing touches and gifts. Aviary Garden is charming and conversational, quirky but traditional and would suit both adorable country cottages and smart, contemporary homes alike. This range will mix and match beautifully with coordinating paints, accessories and upholstery options from Laura Ashley in apple greens, fresh yellows and pretty floral-inspired pinks.
New for Spring 2015! From Laura Ashley...
The fresh Ava range in duck egg and lemon is new for the Spring/Summer 2015 Laura Ashley catalogue, and includes curtain fabric, coordinating wallpaper and matching accessories. Ava has a retro vibe but in a clean and contemporary colour palette - stopping it from feeling old-fashioned. This lovely new range will look beautiful against a back drop of Laura Ashley's paints and coordinating upholstery options.Â

Have you ever seen lampshades as big as these?!
I just had to share some photos of these amazing giant lampshades at the Ideal Home Show 2014 in London. Everything always seems to look extra-cool if its really, really tiny or really, really huge!Â
Maybe I have a thing for out-of-proportion homewares...
More from the Ideal Home Show…
It's still the week of the Ideal Home Show 2014 in London, so I am still posting pictures from my visit last weekend. This is another 'room' set up by Ideal Home - a gorgeous kitchen & dining space. The lighting is really cool, the colours are so striking and it's full of interesting little details without looking cluttered. I like how it feels retro yet contemporary, rustic yet sleek, and industrial yet homely.
I love this scheme, I think it's been really well put together. And those lights hanging over the worktop on the right, lovely or what!
At the Ideal Home Show…
Another 'room' created by Ideal Home was this wonderful dining room with a lovely home office corner. It's calm, it's trendy, it's practical, the colours are very cool - what more could you want! I love the little office corner, the storage on the wall looks just as cute as the little mix-matched pictures, and what a quirky little pencil pot on the desk. The logs in the otherwise very plain 'fireplace' area warm up the room, bringing the outside in sits really great against the cool blues and greys and the utilitarian, retro metal chairs.
This room just shows that having a work area needn't be a dumping ground for paperwork, or the most boring space in the house... Instead if you make a feature of the space it can tie in perfectly with the rest of the decor.
I personally believe if you are to be creative, and make fantastic work, or just concentrate without stressing, the space in which you work must be comfortable, interesting and feel like a space you want to spend time in. If it looks boring and messy, I think it's possible it may show in your work...
...but hey, that's just my thoughts on the matter, we're all different eh!
At the Ideal Home Show…
I visited the Ideal Home Show 2014 in London last weekend, and as always, there were tons of companies and stalls showing off their beautiful, practical or unusual wares for Interior Design and Home Improvements. And, as always, Ideal Home Magazine set up several 'rooms' to provide everyone with plenty of ideas and inspiration! This was their gorgeous 'Utilitarian Chic' bathroom with an amazing wow bath and statement tiles. The lighting was simple and trendy, the white tiles with black grout give it a clean but old feel, and the double sinks are quite a luxury!
But again, focus on that bath... just imagine relaxing in that after a long day at work - you would feel like your in a very, very fancy hotel I'm sure!
I've been to London to visit the Queen!
No, not really to visit the Queen, but I did visit Liberty's and discovered the House of Hackney room (it's only been there a month or so!) - which I think is almost as good. Maybe better!
A large, hanging-ivy adorned, wooden doorway welcomes you into a room dedicated soley to the instantly recognisable House Of Hackney. The room was filled with their weird and wonderful range of homewares, from luxuriously soft cushions and old fashioned standard lamps, to crockery and kitchenware, to large furniture. Needless to say, I wanted it all!
So here are few snaps to share my visit with you, but I would definitely recommend going and having a look for yourself. If your a fan, or just happen to be wandering around East London, their flagship store is in Shoreditch and stocks much more. Here's what they have to say...
"Today House of Hackney’s Flagship store is housed in a spectacular 2000sq foot townhouse in Shoreditch, East London where the brands iconic interiors, fashion and accessories products are, for the first time, housed under one roof. "

Just the word 'spectacular' instantly makes you want to visit eh!
What have I been up to?
I've had a very busy couple of weeks! So to fill you in, I'm going to post the things I've made and the places I've been. This project here is a lovely little retro chair I've had in my studio, and I thought it needed a new lease of life - it needed brightening up for the summer! I have hand-painted it with a lovely matt blue 'vintage style' paint, and upholstered the seat in a cheerful, genuine vintage floral fabric. I just love these colours together! I really enjoyed working on this piece, and have decided to find myself a new studio chair - and this one Ladies and Gentlemen, is now for sale! Yes, that's right, you can buy it :) It is currently on eBay so go and check it out (the eBay advert has more photos too!)
Go on, you know you want to...

Spring is coming... get "On Yer Bike"!
A week or two ago I shared a few beautiful wallpapers by Linwood, from their wonderful 'Ephemera' range and I have just been sent this adorable design that is just perfect for Spring. So of course, I had to share it with you! The calm colours are fresh but not too 'summer bright' and the cyclist print is just what we need to encourage us all to venture outdoors.Â
