I know that heat abnormal is mostly interpreted as the end of the world but personally I think its abt mental health (or depression in general) not saying its the actual meaning but i do see the song differently even though the mv clearly seems to state the world ending
as the self proclaimed #1 heat abnormal fan who has done an ungodly amount of research and analysis of this song, i like this take actually. is it accurate to the lore? no ofc not, but do things have double meaning? absolutely! as a matter of fact, half of the reason im so obsessed w this song is because it found me when i was living in a constant state of fear. that resonated with me. sooo like smth smth listener decides what the song means to them smth double meanings smth smth
to be specific tho i genuinely think iyowa did have this sort of thing in mind while making heat abnormal. because i mean, a lot of ppl dealing w things dont get taken seriously, theyre literally told “the world isnt going to end over this.” but many times for them it does. ofc not literally but their world comes crashing down because they cant hold it together anymore. i mean when you look at a lot of the lyrics too, they can relate to the feelings somebody has when theyre losing hope. the obvious meaning for this and the technical meaning in the song’s context is losing hope in humanity and in the world, but it can be a loss of many other things. does this make sense idk

I see this set of lyrics on how adults keep saying the same words over and over again to mentally ill teenagers when really all they need was comfort. In my experience, adult(especially teachers) dont really care about mental health. They talk about it sure.. but it seems performative and all of the talk circles back to religion. I legit heard a tc saying japanese students kill themselves bcs they dont believe in god which sounds so wrong..
