I love Yukiko Amagi so much.

I love how her arc is about realizing that the love around her from her family and friends is unconditional and that the power is totally in her hands because I think a lot of people need to know that the greatest way to kneecap your own power is to believe you have none. Which is why her Shadow’s birdcage opens up when she attacks—the only thing holding her back is herself because she falsely believes she can’t choose, that’s the true reason behind her resentment of the inn—she doesn’t think she has a choice, she’s got no problem with the inn itself!

And the unconditional love thing… I think a lot of teens her age need to hear that. I think part of the reason it’s so perfect Persona 4’s main cast is comprised of teenagers is because more than any other age group, teens are especially desperate to feel like they need validation and because of that they suppress more of themself than older or younger people. Their insecurities get constantly preyed on by other teens who are equally as insecure or adults trying to hurt them, so they’re even more desperate to suppress them. So Yukiko getting to learn that she’ll be supported and loved no matter who she is or what she does is a really sweet message.

I also like her personality a lot, love how she’s not just goofy (her laughing fits are adorable—fun fact, when me and my friends played P4 together and got the gag glasses half the group was clamoring for her to have them on and celebrated when she had them on), but determined—I mean seriously, she sucks at cooking but she really tries! She doesn’t let her mistakes get her down and keeps fighting and getting back up! She’s awesome!! I adore her!!

I've seen some in the fandom give Yukiko flak for her verbal smackdown towards the Midnight Channel killer, specifically for the line "Living is too painful for you but you don't want to die...of course no one would understand. It makes no sense." thinking she's dismissing depression. But I see it as more calling the killer out for their nihilism and inability to take action to improve themselves, and refusal own up to what they did.

is it not weird to be mad at a teenage girl for being a little harsh on a killer? she should've been meaner lol he tried to kill her. she wouldn't have said that if she was talking to a good person - can you picture her saying that to someone like kanami? neverrrr in a million years!

tbh, this fandom is really weird towards female characters, but they love to defend adachybaby, so that kind of tells us all we need to know

Hello thank you for this blog i just got played p44 love yukiko so much because her situation reminds me a lot of myself , I met some people who think her SL is boring but I loved it , helping your friend become more independent? Amazing

i love her so much too! she was my first persona love and i'll always love her <3

i really enjoyed her social link. i understand the criticism, she did change her mind, but it's not like this is exclusive to her SL. rise also changed her mind about retiring from showbiz, but i don't really see people parroting the "this makes the whole SL useless" when it comes to rise, only when it's yukiko.

yukiko went from resenting her life, to genuinely enjoying it - while still retaining her desire to become more independent. i really liked it and it's the only social link i always watch every scene of in my replays :)
