Morning sickness

More like morning noon & night sickness. I am nauseated 85% of my waking day, from mild "I feel a little icky" to full blown "on a roller coaster after eating a chili dog". This is ridiculous! How are there 7 billion people on the earth if making one is so horrible???

Thoughts on Rachel Dolezal

Rachel Dolezal, an activist who faked her identity, is the big controversy, as of late. I’ve decided to talk about it on this blog, since it is centered around race. 

My biggest thought on this is that this whole backlash around her is blown so hugely out of proportion. I am not defending her on her wrongs, but I am pointing out that this woman should be considered mentally ill for what she has done. This is a huge, terrible form of self-hate, and it is extremely disappointing. We should all accept who we are and where we come from. This whole cluster of hate is very reminiscent of the backlash on Iggy Azalea, which, to me, is comparing apples and oranges. One of these women actually was an activist.

As someone who is very involved in the family of my boyfriend, who is Vietnamese, I often feel involved in that other race. But it is my role to be an ally, and nothing else. Anyone who is so confused and demented that they do not want to be their own race is mentally unstable and sick.

Exactly. I've often joked that I wish I was Asian, but I never even considered dyeing my hair black & trying to pretend I was. I mean... You can be an ally no matter what you are.

What disturbs me the most is how hateful she is towards whites & all her claims of hate crimes. If she was just quietly pretending to be black, it wouldn't be as weird... But she was out there complaining about how hard life as a black woman is when she has NO IDEA. I highly doubt anyone's ever discriminated against her like she says, because she barely looks black (because she isn't)... I had a friend in HS who was a quarter black & looked a lot like her "before" photo. No one knew unless she told them. So that's the weirdest part for me, it's like she enjoys playing a victim. I wonder how she'd enjoy it if it wasn't play.

Baby's first picture! I had my first doctor visit & the baby is healthy! 😊 tiny, but healthy! The black space is my uterus & the shrimp like shape is the baby. I could see its heart beating! It was an amazing moment. I will find out the gender Sep 18 for sure, maybe sooner if my regular doc can see a dong at my August checkup. Otherwise it's up to the ultrasound tech in Sep! So happy... So excited!
