yuri on ice oppresses canadians
i will never not be mad about what they did to JJ in yuri on ice. firssa all, they introduced him as THE SKATING CHAMPION. HE is INDISPUTABLY THE BEST SKATER OF THEM, AND HES ALSO OLDER AND EXPERIENCED. there is NO reason a much younger main character had to win first place in ONLY SEASON ONE, like u need room for growth so its bad writing.
but the WORST part was even the AUTHOUR new damn well JJ IS SUPERIOR, so instead of losing fair and square, they throw in a completely UNFORESHADOWED RANDOM MENTAL BREAKDOWN... like this man is a professional athlete and I KNOW people got mental health issues but this is NOT how you go about portraying it. they used a panic attack as a PLOT DEVICE to make sure JJ didnt win... that was SO underhanded and he deserved SO much better.
The definitely did him dirty with that and it makes me so sad
