Hi! I just found y'all and was hoping that there were plans to do another round sometime soon?
Hey there!
In the interest of not setting up any false expectations, there are no current plans to do another round in the immediate future we're sorry to say. However, if that were to change we will communicate it via this blog in a timely manner and advertise the event accordingly.
Thank you for your interest and please have a nice rest of your weekend.
Created for @yusufalkaysanibingo / Prompt “Amnesiac Joe”
Inspired by the scenario Apple | @happensweet describes in original posts from June 2021
Some words, to go along with the visuals: The Stranger Finds Himself in the Stranger attempts to map the journey that Nicolò and Yusuf might undertake after Yusuf mistakes Nicolò for a friend, as they leave Jerusalem behind and cross the desert, travel into towns they take the time to explore and proceed along the coastline on the Mediterranean Sea.
Created for @yusufalkaysanibingo / Prompt “Joe and Whatever Brings Him a Sense of Wonder | Excites Him”
Yusuf strikes me as someone with an almost infinite capacity for marvelling at the beautiful complexity of the universe. From his days as a child, and then a young man, craning his neck upwards to follow the movement of a bright point of light to the centuries upon centuries of being witness to breakthrough discoveries and changes of paradigm, Yusuf has nurtured a lifelong fascination with the firmament - has cherished every opportunity to contemplate the vastness of the cosmos and the immensity of time. The Your Body is a Space That Sees Series constitutes an attempt to translate this personal interpretation into visuals and mean to evoke the sense of awe and wonder that beffals Yusuf whenever he observes / studies the skies and explores mankind’s connection with the natural world.

Summary:
‘I’m glad we stopped here,’ Nicolò whispers into Yusuf’s ear. ‘Did you have fun today?’
‘Not as much as you, maybe.’
And there it is again, the image of Nicolò with the village’s children, unbidden. Yusuf’s steps falter in their sway and if not for Nicolò he might have stumbled.

[First ID: a digital drawing of Yusuf al-Kaysani from The Old Guard in a cluttered art studio. He's siting at a desk with one leg over it, wearing a patterned robe as he stares at a drawing tablet propped for use in front of him. The wall behind him to the left is a big window and the one to the right a bookcase filled with boxes and assorted drawing supplies. Behind him is a canvas with a portrait of a black woman in progress and on the corner opposite a block of white stone halfway carved.
Second ID: a crop of the bookcase in the drawing. It has cardboard boxes with different labels covering other characters, different cities, years and themes. They're in various languages such as English, Arabic, Spanish, Italian, French, Hindi and Japanese. There are also empty canvases, supplies for embroidery, pottery, paints and a lot of sketchbooks labeled for different subjects, places and years. The labels read "Malta sketches", "pop art", "home", "1400-1600 except for what we lost in that storm", "family", "americas 2000s", "Quỳnh's embroidery", "drawings", "portrait practice". End ID.]

[ID: A digital fanart of Joe and Nicky from The Old Guard on a pink background. The style is warm, pinkish colours with simple black lines, minimal shading and highlights. They're both visible from the waist up, standing close in profile with Joe leaning over Nicky. They're staring at one another with tears in their eyes. Joe is emotional, cradling Nicky's head with one hand and holding a bloodied dagger to his neck with the other, he has long hair on a ponytail and a white shirt. Nicky has short hair and a short patchy beard, he's wearing a blue long sleeved t-shirt. End ID.]
"Tell me, my Nicolò."
At the mention of his name in Yusuf’s lips, Nicolò gasps. The tip of the dagger pushes against the soft skin of his jaw with the movement. He doesn't seem to care, his gaze is steady, emotions shifting like the sea he once crossed to meet and kill Yusuf for the first time. They're as deep as the ocean that swallowed Yusuf up and spat him out centuries later as he is now, a twisted, broken thing. Five hundred years in a box at the bottom of the ocean would make anyone insane.
"Tell me," he repeats, watching Nicolò’s Adam's apple shift as he swallows. "Did it actually happen? Did we ever stop doing this?" He digs the knife a bit harder to illustrate his point. A drop of blood, as red and shiny as a ruby swells and drips down the edge of the dagger. By the time it reaches the pommel, the wound has already healed. "Or was it just another one of the delusions I made up to keep me company in the cold iron coffin at the bottom of the ocean?"
"Yusuf," Nicolò pleads and how dare he- how dare he say his name like a prayer, when it was Yusuf who spent centuries calling out Nicolò's name to the uncaring waters, wasting the mouthful of oxygen he had with each resurrection.
He wonders, sometimes, if he has screamed his name to the ocean more times than he ever said it underneath the sky.
"Don't," he warns, voice stretched thin almost to the breaking point.
Because in a way, he wants to believe that it was all in his head. A fabrication of his desperate mind, grasping at any semblance of comfort in the cold depths. Nicoló's eyes say the contrary. Yusuf doesn't want to see it. It's tempting - safer to believe it was all in his head. Because if he accepts it was real - if he really acknowledges that at some point they put down their weapons to hold each other's hands instead, then he has to contend with what follows. And that's the fact that Nicolò left him. Cold, trapped and alone at the bottom of the ocean for more time than they ever walked the earth together.
It means that despite their love lasting several lifetimes of mortal men, despite seeming endless and unstoppable, the one force Yusuf thought could overcome anything, and it wasn't enough. It wasn't enough for Nicolò to find him.

was what i wanted to post for you last weekend before the series of unfortunate events struck, but what can you do. here it is now! entry 2 of 4 for @yusufalkaysanibingo, this one about Joe and loyalty in his early life!
Thank you to everyone who participated in this Event and to those who cheered us on throughout!
We are deeply appreciative of each and every single contribution of yours, and hope you had as great a time creating Yusuf-centric content as we had in coming across such thoughtful explorations of Yusuf's life, times and interiority.
We'd also like to take the opportunity to remind participants that there is no time limit on completing Bingo fills, and thus we will welcome any art, fic, graphics, vids, etc. you may still wish to create based on the Bingo Card you have in hand. Just tag us in your posts if you want your work to be featured on this Blog and/or post it to the AO3 Collection as you see fit, and we will do our best to reblog/approve new content accordingly.
At this time, the AO3 Collection holds 62 works by dozens of authors and creators. We invite everyone interested in Yusuf-centric content to peruse it!
Last but not least, here's hoping that this is the first Edition of many, and that the Yusuf al-Kaysani Bingo becomes a fixture in the fannish calendar.
