“Calm down? I completely ruined the display! Someone is gonna be pretty upset.”
“Let’s just walk away really calmly. No one but me saw it. Just be quiet and we’ll walk back by and comment on it.”

“Calm down? I completely ruined the display! Someone is gonna be pretty upset.”
“Let’s just walk away really calmly. No one but me saw it. Just be quiet and we’ll walk back by and comment on it.”
“I’m fairly good at hearing what I want to here and ignoring everything else. Go ahead and do what you have to do.”
“That’s a great skill to have.” He commented before calling his mother, trying to keep his voice down. “Yeah mum, I got the number. It went fine—listen I have to go.” For a few more moments, Zander fielded his mother’s questions about his date, wondering why he had agreed to this in the first place. Finally saying his goodbyes he hung up and turned back to the woman. “Sorry ‘bout that.”
It wasn’t often that Nikki let her frustration get to her so it was easy enough to listen when Zander said to trust him. He was the expert and she knew that she was her own worst critic. “You’re right. I trust you to be a good teacher so I may as well trust you altogether. Can we go over that one more time?”
Zander had seen plenty of people come through his doors and he found that most fell into one of two categories. Either those who got frustrated because they were used to getting things immediately and these things weren’t easy to pick up or those who got frustrated because they kept falling—regardless of the reason, they seemed to always get frustrated. So he was used to and the girl he was helping out was surprisingly quicker to calm than others. “Sure. Fist you hand.” He moved behind her, hands on hips as he adjusted her stance before mimicking the action beside her.
“I’d say it’s for the best. I wouldn’t want to embarrass you.”
“Are we betting something?”
“Again – weakling. You’re supposed to fight me.”
“I don’t fight battles I know I can’t win.”
“Flowers. You have a date.”
“Yeah. My mother couldn’t leave me alone on Valentine’s Day. Though I figure there’s a reason people are single on the day of love.”
I can’t say I know the feeling
“You should hope to keep it that way.”
"No, no, no. That wasn’t supposed to happen. Damn it!"
“It’s okay, calm down.”
“Okay, are you ready to get creamed?”
“Creamed? That’s a lot of confidence. Maybe I should back out while I can.”
"Holy shit! I’m okay, I’m okay!”
“You sure?”
"Likewise. I’m sure there’s another corner around here. You can pretend I’m not here if you want and I’ll make sure not to bother you."
“Well I had to make a phone call so I can pretend you’re not here but I might be a bother to you.”
"Me either. It’s nice though, they’re getting business."
“That’s for sure. Except for when it takes forever to get a coffee.” Zander joked, before continuing. “I’m a horribly selfish person that way.”
Really? I’ve never had that problem
“Well I wouldn’t want to send mixed signals and then have a bunch of angry women who all thought I was leading them on. Trust me a group of angry women is scarier than bullets.”
Not able to remain angry with him over her own failure, Nikki took his offered hand and hoisted herself up. “Okay. I’ll try that. It’s just hard to feel like I’m ever going to get this right when I keep falling over,” she explained, feeling slightly bitter over the fact that she had definitely been a warrior in another life and yet she still couldn’t fight in this one?
Zander helped hoist her up off the ground and though usually they went through more training before starting direct combat, the crash course had to move faster than anything else. So he could sympathize with her frustration. “I know but trust me you’re already better than you were before. A few more days and you’ll have these things down.”
"The place, how they set it up."
"Oh yeah, it's pretty great. I can practically feel the romance in the air."
"This wouldn’t have been so awkward if you had just knocked first, you know."
"On the public men's bathroom door? There are stalls you know. Whatever. You do what you need to and I'll try and stand outside until you're done. Save some other poor soul from walking in on you."
If you’re looking for someone I can promise you they are not here. I haven’t seen anyone come this way and I’ve been sitting here awhile.
"Actually I was just looking for a place without anyone."
