———– So which would you say is messier: my life or my hair?
Neither.
aubreybriar:
Am I wrong?
He’s taken the blame before!
No. But you’re still gross.
Like, twice.
aubreybriar:
…Why the fuck would you want to be a vegetarian? I mean, vegetarian or not, you will literally eat meat either way.
Simon told me it was you!
Have I ever told you how gross you are?
And how often does Simon take the blame for what he does?
———— Being drunk is not an excuse for eating all of the bacon, asshole.
I didn’t eat any of it! I went vegetarian remember?
Are you sure Simon isn’t the one who devoured it?
zanesteinfield:
That’s not dumb. It’s not something that should be ignored. It was big. It was traumatic. And it has just as much of a right to be told as anything else.
—- You actually think so?
Of course I do. Just because you survived doesn't mean that it's not a big deal. It is. It's your story, and you have the right to tell who ever you damn well please.
zanesteinfield:
Hey. You know I don’t care about that stuff. It doesn’t matter if it’s heoric or horrific — I don’t care if you got them falling off of a damn bike. I want to know. Whenever you’re ready.
I know that, I do. I guess I was just worried.
—- When I was about, ten, we were in this car crash. It was two in the afternoon and we were on our way to the beach for a family reunion, and we were all singing along to the radio, and having a good time. Out of nowhere, this truck comes flying into the car. We rolled four times and ended up upside down on the side of the road. The truck hit my side, and my seatbelt ended up locking. The car caught on fire before they had gotten me out. I barely made it out alive, but I still got out. Walked out of the hospital a month later with these scars to show.
That's not dumb. It's not something that should be ignored. It was big. It was traumatic. And it has just as much of a right to be told as anything else.
—- You think I’m not ready to tell you?
….I figured—-
zanesteinfield:
….I figured—-
—- That’s not it at all.
I never told you because I thought you didn’t want to know.
People always look at them and assume I’m some hero or something amazing or something happened to me, and then when I tell them what did happen, they don’t care because it’s not nearly what they thought. It’s not some sob story or heroic tale, and because of that, it isn’t worth their time, so I just grew accustomed to not telling people.
Hey. You know I don't care about that stuff. It doesn't matter if it's heoric or horrific --- I don't care if you got them falling off of a damn bike. I want to know. Whenever you're ready.
zanesteinfield:
The thing is — I do want to know. But you’re not ready to tell me. And if you’re not ready, then I’m not going to ask. I can wait as long as you need.
—- You think I’m not ready to tell you?
....I figured----
zanesteinfield:
No. At least, I don’t think so. I didn’t expect it. But it’s not weird.
I just… I don’t know. It’s weird. I just… I like that you stare but you don’t push me to tell you. It makes me feel special, I guess. You don’t ask about what you don’t wanna know, and that means more to me than you know.
The thing is --- I do want to know. But you're not ready to tell me. And if you're not ready, then I'm not going to ask. I can wait as long as you need.
zanesteinfield:
….You do?
…I – yeah. I – is that weird…?
No. At least, I don't think so. I didn't expect it. But it's not weird.
zanesteinfield:
But that’s not right. I’m not supposed to stare at them. I’m supposed to be better than that
Zane, it doesn’t bother me.
—- I kind of like that you stare.
....You do?
zanesteinfield:
But I shouldn’t do it. I should know better. And I don’t mean to. Honestly, I don’t.
———– Hey.
{ he leans closer, taking zane’s face between his palms and looking into his eyes. }
It’s okay. I get it, okay? I promise I do. If I met someone with scars on their face and neck and body, I’d stare, too. It’s natural. The mind is a curious thing.
But that's not right. I'm not supposed to stare at them. I'm supposed to be better than that
zanesteinfield:
—-Sorry. I… Sorry.
—- Hey – it’s fine. Everyone does it. I don’t mind.
But I shouldn't do it. I should know better. And I don't mean to. Honestly, I don't.
zanesteinfield:
I do not.
—- You’re doing it right now, babe.
----Sorry. I... Sorry.
———— I feel like you stare at my scars a lot.
I do not.
zanesteinfield:
But what if——!
No ‘but’s! If I were in your position, I would totally do it!
PHOEBE: Bet you twenty bucks she would.
SIMON: Legit.
But I'm not as strong as you are!
aubreybriar:
Big time.
PHOEBE: That isn’t the only thing you’ll be regretting, hon.
Nobody is good at saying stuff to someone they like! You just do it! And no matter what’s going on, they’ll do the same! That’s how you know you’ll work!
But what if------!
