So I've been gone for 4 days and didn't have time to write up anything we went to oxford street and stayed at one Liyanas place which is literally a 10 minute walk. We were literally out 22 hours searching for inspiration on one of the new briefs that have been given we looked at fabrics lots of fabrics and then went into high street stores to see what is selling most and speak to some of the high street brand colleagues to see what people are most interested in our little team one of these days did a tally chart in Zara to see how many girls are interested in what type of clothing then we asked if we could put them on the tally for there age.

Today I was with Liyana again before I went home yesterday she said to sketch something I'd like to make or if I have a sketch already that's fine something that fits the company's look I sketched something up a little while ago it's now 01:23 and I'm so ready for bed this is what my end garment looked like I was so pleased with it I didn't get any components on it. Everyone in the fashion world wants to see something they've not seen before I guess..

today I got introduced to one of the girls who are on the sewing machines Liyana I definitely prefers the design side and the business side of everything, however it can get interesting and I was amazed at how fast she was and neat her finishes were amazingly near ATEA OCEANIE is a very neat and tidy brand I've realised I took notes and wasn't allowed my phone near the machines so I don't have any pictures of today I learnt that finished is probably one of the most important things in a garment.

Today was so much fun till someone asked me to get coffee, before the coffee it got messy but I got a snap of the water colours I was using

today I got the chance to design and make something. I loved the process I got to design it till lunch so I took my time and ofc asked Pete 100 times if it looks ok he was very honest I just wanted everyone to think it's good. And then after lunch I got to toile it and the fun part was I didn't have to sew my self I had to explain which parts I wanted sewing and how. Sadly I didn't have time to make it in a material in which I imagined it I would have used a light fabric called aina in a White colour this suited the company and o could imagine it being a part of the online clothing.

And so its almost half way! I have to say even though I'm getting used to these coffee runs it's helped my memory you know? Memorising what drinks everyone wants how many sugars and maybe even a snack or sandwich with something.. Yep great stuff ok so let's look st the stuff I've actually learnt I mean I can't say I haven't learnt anything I've been watching what Lilly has been doing she mostly designs on the Mac and she's lovely she explains everything to me she had I could have a go next week maybe design an outfit that suits the fashion st this company like imagine they use the garment or even a part of it that would be a big deal!

; so today we finished nice and early it's now 01:03 and I got home about an hour ago I had such a good night we went out in central another finishing up the final collection I have to say the collection looked amazing I would definitley wear every outfit I'm so glad I got the internship here because it's gave me so many ideas about my final collection next year before I came here or got the internship I didn't really hear about it but when I did research I remember why I chose this place! Ok so my hands have lots of pokes innit I don't know if I've mentioned before that pins are a big part of my journey I have about 50 in my pocket someone always needs a pin I only thought about the idea of having pins in my picked half way through my internship it was one of the best ideas you know when you hear someone say ‘Pin’ and you have one within less than a second I just feel like yep I'm doing something right here!

When launching a new collection, the PR dept will usually get a set of samples of the new looks to send out to press. Based on the feedback you get from shows, presentations, or market appointments, you will know what samples will be your most popular, so the team tries to ask for at least two sets of the most popular looks, which is never easy to get, but can sometimes be done. Brands also have look books or line sheets of their recent collections that they send to press, as not everyone can make it in to the showroom. Fashion publicists then work with the fashion editors to see what their editorial line up is, what well stories or trend stories they are working on, etc to send them the samples they need.

So my task today was to design a shirt that would fit the criteria that had been given to me I'm sure I took a photo of it but I can't seem to find it! Anyway this is how it was I take time to do my work i have to say I took all day to do this Pete helped me lots hence the hands looking perfect!

The business tricks

On a more interesting note, My boss was just telling me some time ago that she proposed to A very popular designer in New York the idea of inviting some of the our local editors to their New York fashion shows. This is because inviting these editors, paying for their air tickets and lodging and granting them exclusive interviews would mean getting a 3-4 page spread. Maybe even more if it is negotiable. And considering that forking out a couple of thousands (which is peanuts to these big fashion houses seriously!. sell a couple of garments and they would get the money back.), the publicity in return is worth it all I must say! ;)

Vacay

I have not written something for quite some time now. That is because my boss’s mom passed away and she wasn’t in the office for a period of time. And when the boss isn’t in the office, my workload miraculously disappeared no one even asking me for coffee or a pin? . Literally I would go into the office at 11am and leave at 3pm. And I would be just reading magazines and updating press clippings all day, everyday. But my boss would be back soon. My vacation is ending.
