Priya Mehta was born on the 28th of Oct. 1998 in the popular metropole Manhattan, New York to a Punjabi-Mexican family. But that's not everything. Her mother was of a very powerful bloodline of witches. Her father is a business tycoon of no supernatural bloodline himself.
She has two younger sisters โ Pooja and Priscella โ whom she took care of ever since their mothers passing almost twenty years ago. At that time, Priya was only eight years old and even though she does avoid talking about it, it is a scar she will carry in her heart forever. Luckily, the three sisters had their loving father and grandparents who took very good care of them and never let them feel the lack of a mother.
Priya somehow managed to juggle between being a single mother trapped in the body of an oldest daughter and k!lling warlocks and studied journalism at Stanford. Luckily, they had the privilege of growing up wealthy which is why she never had to take a part-time job, or worry about providing for her sisters and father.
What she had always worried about, and still does, is the fear of eventually giving in to the dark side, since her mothers Wiccan powers lead back to a bloodline of dangerous witches, deriving their power from negative aspects of magic. The bloodline ended with her grandmother breaking the manifestation of dark magic by living a peaceful life as a normal human being, choosing her love instead of darkness. She changed her name and stopped using her powers, since a witch can only be located when using her magic, hiding from her coven. But of course they did not stop looking for them, or rather.. hunting them. They soon found out about her daughter and her granddaughters, when Priya and her sisters were little kids, so their grandmother took their powers and made them forget about it.
But of course, nothing can be hidden for too long and after their beloved abuela passed away, the spell broke. The three sisters, who grew up as super normal human beings, suddenly found themselves with magical abilities, causing a lot of chaos first by breaking a few things accidentally or even flying around unwillingly. They soon found a letter of their grams, telling them about their abilities and what she had sacrificed to live the peaceful life she always wanted, apologising for what her demise caused and meant for the three sisters and also explaining how important it is to not lose control over oneself.
That being said, Priya is the only one of the sisters being on the verge of losing control. Since her powers are the most powerful, she is fighting against a voice inside her head, calling herself MAYA (เคฎเคพเคฏเคพ) โ meaning "illusion" in Sanskrit, often showing up in form of a reflection or hallucination, telling her to just give in, to choose the dark side and use her magic the way it was meant to be, slowly but surely driving her crazy. No one else can see her, except for Priya, yet. However, sometimes Maya takes over her consciousness, meaning mischief and wreaking havoc, which scares Priya a lot since she does not want anybody to be harmed, or see this side of her.
Now it has been a year since Priya is working as a junior Journalist and photographer for VOGUE. Somehow balancing work and magic. Although it is fun to work for such a glamorous and prestige magazine and brings fresh air into her stressful life of fighting demons, ever since she knows about her powers and tries to save the world, Prue wants to do something meaningful in her life, to be a voice for the voiceless. Anyone spending at least two minutes on her instagram blog, will notice that she is politically vocal.
She might be a glamorous it-girl, with a job most women would die for, but right now she strives to make a name of her own to finally be able to write about politics, war-crimes and to draw attention to countries who's sufferings are often overlooked.
