hello hello hopping on the bandwagon to give you your flowers for the kitty cat max fic bc it is everything to me!! the world building and how you characterize both him and charles and the sexual tension and the consent issues (and gp’s support) and the multimedia (the fia updates and the social media posts) and i could just go on and on. hope you are not feeling pressured about ch. 3 and pls take your time, me and many others will be happily rereading parts 1 and 2 for as long as it takes. thank you again for sharing <3 you are a very talented writer!!
this is lovely, thank you!! there are lots of parts that I had fun playing with. gp was one of my favourite bits too. he is in absolute hell trying to manage things for max but make no mistake he Will kill someone for him. the consent issues are like - well damn. imagine giving someone heat symptoms in a world where that's not a thing. that's fucked up. they WILL fuck about it. but eesh.

one day I will be shameless enough to write something on the same level as this fic and that's a THREAT
Charles kisses Max until they’re both breathless and weak, and when he pulls away Max is already shaking like a leaf. A string of saliva follows his lips when he pulls back. Max chases him until Charles puts a finger to his wet chin to still him. He’s so obviously gone; dazed and unfocused, gaze wandering everywhere but Charles’ eyes. “Mm, you do need this,” Charles says, and something in his voice wakes Max enough for him to make actual eye contact. “You look like you are dying without it.”
To his surprise, when he leans in to kiss him again Max jerks away with a stuttered laugh, even though it’s not really a humorous sound. “Wait, I, um, need to say that –” His eyes have gone big again. His tail flicks in agitation. “You’re going to think I’m lying. But the curse…”
He hesitates, which is so out of character that Charles actually gets serious for a moment. “The curse which I am helping you with.”
“I have not told you the full… terms,” Max says slowly.
Charles frowns. That’s true, he supposes. He was so caught up in Max letting him kiss and touch him that he hadn’t really thought it through any further than that.
Actually, he has thought very little about what Max has been doing this week at all. He didn’t realise that Max had even found out the terms of his own curse. All he’d heard was that Max needed him and his intelligence withered and died from there.
“So tell me,” he encourages.
Max’s eyes sink close as he rests his weight back against the wall so that Charles is mostly holding him up by his hips. “I have to have sex,” he admits quietly, barely a breath of a whisper. “Properly.”
Charles stares at him for a long moment. Then he says, “Is that not what we are doing?”
Max flushes prettily. “But you should know.”
Charles feels something ridiculous and affectionate soften in his chest. He remembers Max on the phone – begging, stumbling and slurring through his words, insisting that he couldn’t think. Charles never needed more of an explanation than that. He can be so obtuse sometimes, but at least Charles doesn’t have to worry about the two of them being on the same page.
He’s so goddamn cute that he wishes he had fangs of his own so he could sink them into Max’s neck and shake him around like a dog with a bone.
