“no im okay, i just wanted to stop by and check in, see how you were adjusting to the new place.” hawk wouldn’t admit out loud to her that he was grateful she moved out of the commune, even more grateful she wasn’t in the listeners house either. “i figured i see you a lot at work, don’ wanna bug you for too long at your home.”

"thanks, we've been settling in well. it's been a bit of an adjustment in getting used to the space and lack of noise compared to the commune but i'm glad to be out of there. i feel like frank is more comfortable away from there, it's good for him" she smiled. the fact that moving out benefitted frank was a good enough reason alone for them to move never-mind all the additional benefits. "you're my dad, you're always welcome here, even if you do bug me" she joked "how are things with you and matt?"

Frank stood a bit taller when she said that and couldn't help the cheeky smile that graced his features. "I bet you'd love to see this in the bedroom too, right?" He started to approach then leaned his hand against the ambulance next to her head.

no matter how many times she saw him next to her, she was always surprised how tall he was compared to her. "i mean, i wouldn't hate it" she grinned back at him, her hands resting on his chest. "you want to play doctors?"

hawk chuckled a little and stepped inside, glancing around the place. "looks cozy," he commented not really sure of what to say. he held out a bottle of wine to her, "got you a little... present i guess that's what this is."

"thanks. frank and i are working hard to figure out our way to make it feel homey." she smiled and took the bottle from him "thank you, you didn't have to get us anything. do you want something to drink? something to eat?" she offered.

Frank had been checking that the ambulance had what it needed when he heard a voice and looked up, grinning when he saw who it was before heading on over to meet her half way. "Did you know that it's not nice to interrupt someone half way through their work day?" He said with the grin still.

she couldn't help but admire her other half while he worked away. zelda called out to him and laughed when she walked over to greet him, leaning against the ambulance "i do. but sometimes you need to come see your man in his uniform"

he was honestly relieved when he heard that zelda moved out of the commune before the announcement that there was now a new house to live in. it felt like a weird weight had unknowingly been lifted off his shoulders. visiting her at her place hawk knocked on the door with something random in hand as he waited.

moving in with frank happened at the perfect time. they were away from the commune and away from the drama of the other house. it was strange to have a home to herself and frank but she was loving every moment. opening the door she grinned at her dad "hi, welcome to our home" she played up as she stepped aside to let him in.

"If we're gonna be stuck here, we might as well make our house a home." Frank ran his hand through her hair with a smile then leaned in to kiss her softly. "Thank you, for doing this with me."

"it'll give us experience for when we get out of here and get a home on the outside" she smiled into their kiss, her thumb stroking his cheek "i'd do anything for you. i hope you know that. this is another thing we get to do together and i'm not taking that for granted."

"Then we can make our own noises." He said with a grin and nuzzled into her neck with a small smile, kissing it lightly then pulled away. "Oh yeah, the whole decorating thing will be fun. We can make a trip to the hardware store and see if they have anything there."

"frank!" she burst out laughing while he nuzzled into her, loving how happy he seemed to be at the idea of getting out of the commune. "the hardware store will have everything we need and then there's the storage spaces available for any furniture we would need as well"

Benjamin couldn’t argue with that logic. “The after-effects were actually a little worse than the event itself. Too many people swallowing mouthfuls of whatever it was.” He was still perplexed by it but he lacked the tools to try to solve it. “Good. I’m aiming to find Allegra later but so far I’ve just been tested by her little sister… I have never been good at impressing families.”

"i don't even want to think that was in that water" she shuddered at the thought of it all. this town was throwing everything it had at them "oooh the sibling interrogation, how do you think you did?" she asked curiously "allegra seems really cool. i've not met her but she has that whole vibe going on. i'm happy for you both"

"Ugh, god yeah. I can't wait for the peace and quiet." He said with a laugh as he set the food down and wrapped his arm around her shoulders to bring her closer. "Just us and that's it. I'm hoping not being in that place will help me open up a bit more to people as well."

"you say that but i think you'll find it odd not to have all the noise" she grinned, curling into him. "i can't wait to play house with you. hey, we'll get to decorate this one, how fun. you'll meet loads of new people, we'll have neighbours. regardless of that, do whatever you feel most comfortable with, frank."

"Ugh, a woman after my own heart." Frank sat up and took both the drink and the snack from her before leaning towards her to give her a small kiss on the lips. "I'm hiding out, I've talked to a few people today already so I'm recharging the old batteries."

"i figured they would go down well with you" she laughed, kissing him back and curling up next to him. "take your time and recharge until you feel ready to socialise again. you've been doing great." she smiled "are you excited to move into our new place?"

"Huh. Well, props for being overly prepared. With all the injuries I helped with last time, can't say it's the worse idea in the world... You are taking time to yourself though, aren't you, Zelda?"

"we've had a few too many close calls, it's better to be prepared and not need it than need it and not have it. clinic sort of gets on edge when an event happens...i am, i saw frank earlier and i'll meet up with him later. what about yourself?"

zelda returned to find frank soaking up the sun in their spot by the side of the lake. "i brought you a drink and some snacks" she smiled as she sat down next to him.

"Hey, you know something I don’t? It looks like they're prepared for the worst in the medical tent."

"there's not been a good track record at town events, we've had issues in the past so we're aiming to be overly prepared just in case. plus there's some people here that are pretty reckless, some injuries are a given"

Frank loosened his arms when she turned around and wrapped them back around her with a smile. "In a shoebox huh? We should suggest that to her at the meeting." He joked then stepped away a bit so she could finish what she was doing.

she laughed at his suggestion, it would be funny but she also wanted sage to like them as a couple enough to give them a place "do you think sage laughs? i don't think i've ever seen her laugh" zelda passed the pot to another commune member who was working on the rest of the meal "i'll be happy with whatever place we get. it'll be ours and we can have fun decorating, making the place our own, y'know?"

"Snap your neck just by looking at you." Frank joked further with a smile then moved closer to wrap his arms around her waist again, wanting to feel close to her. "He's that extroverted friend who looked at me and just took me as a friend." He grinned down at her then leaned in to place a light kiss against her neck as she spoke. "She did say we're more likely to get an apartment than a house."

zelda laughed at his joking and finished chopping up the vegetables, happy to be engulfed in franks arms. "every introvert needs an extrovert" she smiled. she was glad that frank had a close friend in town, it would help him a bit with his anxiety. zelda placed the vegetables in the pot and turned in his arms to face him "frank, i'd live in a shoebox with you if that's what you wanted. apartment, house, whatever, it doesn't matter as long as i'm with you"

Frank handed the paper to her as he kissed her back with a grin. "Sage is very hard to win over. She looks like she'd kick my ass without even trying to." Zelda's question made him shrug. "According to Romeo the town is bigger than we think but he's being a total drama queen right now."

she let out a laugh and nodded in agreement "she looks like she'd do that to anyone without breaking a sweat" romeo wasn't wrong, the town was big but that didn't mean part of it were habitable or safe in general. "he is rather dramatic" she smiled at franks mention of his friend "he does have a point, but i guess sage is the best person to speak to in regards to what places are available"

Frank couldn't help but feel both nervous and excited at the same time as he tracked Zelda down in the commune, seeing her in the kitchen, he went straight over with a smile. "I have got us an appointment at the town hall with Sage." Frank held up the piece of paper with the time and office number on it. "I think she felt sorry for me... but that doesn't matter right now."

zelda was in the kitchen making some tea after her shift. she grinned at the arrival of frank and his news. "you do? that's great" she placed her mug down and gave him a kiss "i was worried we wouldn't get one, i heard sage was a tough one to win over." the woman's reputation precedes itself. zelda read over the information on the note "do you think we'll get a place?"
