5-Steps to choose the correct ERP software
Statistics show that organizational commitment is a key factor in ERP success. This commitment must begin in the ERP software selection phase.
Here's a five-step guide to help you choose the right system.
1st Step – Assign a lot of delivery time
Many companies make the mistake of underestimating the time needed to find the right system. The selection process can only take a few months or a few years if your company is active in an unattended area. Assuming that your business operates in a well-served market, you must carefully assign five months to the selection process.
2nd Step – Create a solid business case
Developing realistic and viable projections requires understanding the current business issues at the process level and understanding the barriers to achieving future goals. When our company develops business cases for customers, we conduct a fairly complete analysis.
3rd Step – Implement Business Requirements into System Requirements
Here, commercial and operational issues translate into ERP system requirements. Because it is impossible for an ERP system to meet all the requirements of a business, we prioritize and weigh every requirement regarding the goals and limitations of the customer.
Step 4: Be cautious about the ERP software selection
This step contains two underlying assets. At the end of the tender, the requests and the completed scorecards are estimates. This preliminary assessment reduces the initial list of providers to a list of three to five.
In the second phase, each of the preselected suppliers is asked to demonstrate the product in detail. In a live demonstration, the vendor shows how his ERP system works in a simulation of his business environment.
After the demonstration session, you must be in a good position to evaluate the right ERP software selection package. If you have questions, you will need to request more demonstrations.
5th Step – Negotiate contracts
License agreements, maintenance, and implementation services require a lot of work. Your company should never blindly accept the terms and conditions of the seller, especially if these terms and conditions do not determine your company's goals.
Conclusion
If you opt for the right ERP software selection process, you can position your business to deliver a level of productivity, efficiency, and profit that would otherwise be unattainable.
