Okay before getting to the story, I need to give you AN beforehand, sorry.
AN: Hello, I'm back from the death (heh). Sorry for being gone suddenly, it's been like one or two years? Anyway, I had been busy with real-life problems... Although, finally I graduated! Now I got the inspiration to continue this story after reading some of Daminette's fanfics hehe. I won't guarantee that the story will be good since I had problems:
- English is not my first language (I had to use google translate or Grammarly for help lol), and I had a problem with how to transfer my idea into good words. I'm stressing myself out to make a good sentence. I do indeed already done with my rough drafts (it has 25 pages in total) until the ending but I'm still struggling to expand that rough drafts into chapters or to put it nicely, I don't know how to turn that rough drafts into interesting chapters lol :"). But I felt guilty if I don't post this because I've promised you and I'm not a person who likes to break a promise unless I'm forced to.
- I'm not following MLB anymore since... Cat Blanc incident (Actually I've not watched that episode too but at least I've heard about it). Not only that, I'm not following Batman's adventure too, I learned their characters only from fanfictions I've read, not including the Maribat fandom. So yeah, expect some or maybe all characters to be OOC. I'll try not to make them cringe, okay.
- The story probably would end up different from how I planned on the beginning because when I re-read it again now, I found out there's some that I don't like, or I am already bored with it so I changed it.
- This is not a problem, but I'm opening commissions for drawing. If you are interested, you can check my IG: @zerotosiki for my art examples.
I deliberately put AN on here so it's doesn't interfere with my main story's pages. Okay, if you've done reading all of my AN, I would like to thank you for patiently reading from the bottom of my heart. Now onto the story!
Chapter List:
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
I'm not tagging anyone on this page because I felt it was unnecessary? Since I already tagged them in my chapter's story anyway, which I felt more suitable.
Warning(s): My Bad Grammar and the possibility of OOC as usual, lol. Though I'm excited for releasing my first chapter of GMSC!
Reincarnation, also known as rebirth or transmigration, is the philosophical or religious concept that the non-physical essence of a living being begins a new life in a different physical form or body after biological death. Resurrection is a similar process hypothesized by some religions, in which a soul comes back to life in the same body. In most beliefs involving reincarnation, the soul is seen as immortal and the only thing that becomes perishable is the body. Upon death, the soul becomes transmigrated into a new infant (or animal) to live again. The term transmigration means the passing of the soul from one body to a different body.

???
...Huh? Where am I..?
She looks around but found out she is floating in a white void...? She looks down at her hand and notices that she is wearing a white plain dress just reaching her knee.
No... Why am I here?
She doesn't remember how she got here. The last time she remember was---
...Why I can't remember? ...Who am I?
Her mind was somehow fuzzy, the images she saw, all of them were blurry, even when she squinted her eyes, trying hard to focus, the images still stay blurry.
"Marinette!"
She instinctively turned to the voice and saw a man, although still blurry, at least she can see it more clearly than before. A blonde man with a black outfit reaching out to her. He called her with a desperate tone. She doesn't know what face he's making right now, thanks to the blurry.
Is this her memories?
"...Marinette."
Now she suddenly heard a woman's voice, she slowly looks around but found nothing. Only her and a white void. The woman called her again, this time she can hear a worried tone in her voice.
...Who?
"Oh thank kwami, you are fine. I'm worried if our power somehow gives you a side effect..."
...She doesn't know how to respond to that. With her hazy memories, she only can recall that her name is, or maybe was, Marinette.
The woman gave a soft laugh, a familiar laugh, she thought.
"Marinette... I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that..."
What..? No... Don't be, Tikki.
That foreign name suddenly just comes out of her mind. And somehow, she felt an intense guilty washing her. Like she should be the one who is apologizing, for being a failure.
"It's okay, Marinette. It's not your fault. It's no one fault. You did a great job. I'm proud to have you as my ladybug and my best friend, Marinette."
She can feel her tears threatening to come out, a warmth of happiness, relief, and sadness flowing wildly inside her body. She cokes in her silent tears. The woman sent out a soft hum, consoling her like a mother would do to her child. Marinette instantly felt a bit calmer.
"Now... It's time to grant your wish, Marinette."
...My Wish?
"...I hope, this time, you'll have a happy life, Marinette."
Those were the last words she heard before she fall unconscious.
Somewhere in Paris...
Swung... Swing... Ziip...
A red figure was spotted swinging from one rooftop to another. She was so fast, creating a blurring red as she passed. Her destination seemed to be a hospital.
Please let me get in time... Oh kwami, Please be safe, Tom, Marinette!
Upon arriving, the red figure leaped down into a nearby alley before a red light shone. Not a second later, comes a petite woman already rushing out into the Hospital.
The petite woman frantically asked the receptionist about her husband and her daughter. The latter tried to calm the frantic Asian woman and told someone to guide her to the said room. A doctor and two nurses come out of the room, one of the nurses holding her baby, the doctor seemed hesitant, seeing the hopeful looks on her face, before finally opening his mouth.
Only to hear the grave news.
She doesn't know how much time has passed. Time seemed stopped for her. She can only cry while holding her precious baby daughter, Marinette, who seemed to sense her mother's distress because a minute later, she is crying too. Both cry for losing their cherished person. A father and husband.
6 years later in Gotham...
"Marinette, Bridgette! Are you both girls done?" asked the petite woman who looks up the stairs waiting for her daughters.
"Yes, Maman! / Auntie Sabine!" said the little girls who rushed downstairs with a rush of excitement, though one of the girls, the one with a long pigtail stumbled and because she was in the front, making the other girl on her behind stumbled too. Both of them released a tiny yelp.
The petite woman who called Sabine gasped before thankfully swiftly catching her daughters in time before their heads smash onto the ground. She gave them a disapproving look, "I told you girls, to be more careful. Never run when you were on stairs" she reprimand while slowly dropping them both.
Both of them only gave her a sheepish laugh, "...Sorry Maman / Auntie Sabine..."
"And, Bridgette..." Sabine continue, staring at the little girl with a long pigtail, her eyes softened when she saw the troubled look on the girl's face. "I told you to not call me Auntie anymore. You already became my daughter along with Marinette so you can call me Maman as well."
Bridgette hesitantly looks up to her 'mother' before looking at her 'sister', Marinette, who already looking at her with a big smile and excitement in her eyes. Marinette nods her head repeatedly, her short pigtail is bouncing, following the movement, she silently agrees with what her mother said. "Okay... I'll try... ...M-Maman..?" Bridgette finally said, still testing the foreign name. Though she felt happy when she saw Sabine breaks into a big smile before she hug little Bridgette and little Marinette joined the hug too with a loud squeal "Yeay, Big Hug! Marinette likes Big Hug!". That successfully got her Mother laugh.
"Okay, now we're finally done. We should go now before the restaurant closed" remarked Sabine with a wink before ushering her daughters outside.
Today is Marinette's best day. Period. Why? Well, aside from celebrating her birthday of 6 years old with family dinner in the restaurant, somehow Bridgette, her newly adopted sister starting to call her mother "Mom" which of course made little Marinette happy to see the happiness on her mother and sister's face.
So little Marinette thinks, maybe her birthday is a lucky day after all!
Until that happens...
Little Marinette and Bridgette walk along the road while holding hands with a big smile on their faces, with occasionally a bounce in their steps. People would think they were twins because of their similarities and often mistake them with another unless you observe them more closely then you'll notice that Bridgette's eyes are darker than Marinette's bluebell eyes and Bridgette doesn't have any freckles on her face, unlike Marinette. All the little details will help you distinguish both of them.
Sabine walks behind her daughters, watching them with fond eyes. She knows when she decided to bring her daughter to live in Gotham, a town full of crimes, she would risk another danger to her family. Especially now her family has increased. But it's what she must do after all. Running away from Paris, to get away from that crazy woman and the painful memories that she has left behind. For now.
That aside, because of that very crimes, she used it as a distraction with the hope that her family's whereabouts won't be known by them. Not only that, Gotham is heavily protected by Batman and his partners, so at least, she hopes, there'll be someone reliable who'll help her when she, by any chance, hopefully not, were attacked again by the masked group. The very same group who take away her dear husband--
Sabine immediately closed her eyes to prevent any painful memories from re-emerging, out of her closed memory box. She takes a calming breath without realizing she had a tight grip on her clothes, until a tiny, no, two tiny hands touch her.
"Maman?" Little Marinette called, her big doe eyes staring innocently, though there's a deep worry in her eyes. Bridgette beside her also looked at Sabine with worried but questioning looks. Both of their tiny hands gently grasped Sabine's hands. Only by now, Sabine realize that she has stopped in the middle of the sideroad.
"I'm sorry dear, It's nothing. Mommy is okay." Sabine said softly, reassuring her daughters or maybe herself, she don't know. "Sorry for the delay, let's go home now, okay?" asked her softly, receiving nods from her daughters.
Although before they took another step forward, Sabine suddenly stopped again. Little Marinette and Bridgette only looked up at her questioningly. This time Sabine ignore their stares and only silently staring at their back. Little Marinette who is the curious person by the heart, try to follow her mother's gaze only to find nothing but a dark alley, which confused her greatly. However, she noticed her mother's grip on her hand is tighter.
"Marinette, Bridgette,"
Little Marinette knows that tone after being trained by her mother since she can walk. Oncoming danger. She takes a stance, readying herself for the upcoming danger. While Little Bridgette took a nervous stance, she hopes she's not getting rusty after escaping from that place.
"Now, run!" Sabine shout and both Marinette and Bridgette take no time to bolt away, searching for a safe place to hide.
A magic portal suddenly appeared and a bunch of masked ninjas rushing out. Oh, how surprised she is. Sabine cursed after seeing the numbers. Not only that, the masked ninjas awfully look similar to the ones who attacked her family at that time.
With determination in her eyes, she kicks the nearby ninja and slammed the other one into the ground, successfully rendering them unconscious.
Two down.
Sensing a great danger coming to her, she sidesteps, avoiding two daggers heading toward her. She takes momentum before leaping toward the one who throws the daggers, kicking him on the head. Not stopping there, she took out a dagger hidden from her thigh and slash the other on their weak point.
Four down.
Her gaze swept down on the remaining ninjas, who are cautiously facing her, obviously having a second thought after watching her skill.
There's still a lot of them but I can do this. I need to.
She grips hard her dagger, preparing for another attack.
"It's not very gentleman to fight a woman, you know."
Before the group can respond, a figure leaped down, successfully knocked out one of the ninjas. The figure wears a black uniform with a blue V-line. Nightwing. If Nightwing's here, then-- Another figure leaped down, followed by another one. This time it's Batman and Robin. Sabine took a shaky breath, relief washed on her.
"Are you okay, madam?" Nightwing softly asked while Batman and Robin fight the ninjas.
Sabine nods, "Yes, but we still need to defeat them."
"Wait, we? But madam--" before Nightwing can finish, Sabine already jumping forward, earning a surprised gasp from Robin, ignoring it, she gracefully avoids all of the attacks like she's dancing while she stabs, slashes, punches, and kicks the ninjas. Nightwing only gaped at her skill before he shakes his head and joins the fight too.
Thanks to Batman, Robin, and Nightwing, the group of ninjas became more easily be defeated, at last, the number isn't big anymore. One by one collapsed until finally all of them fall down.
Batman was about to ask her some questions until a screaming voice surprised all of them. It sounded childish. Sabine paled, "My daughters!!!" before taking off, rushing out to the voice. Batman bit back a curse then ran after her, with Nightwing and Robin in tow.
Upon arrival, the group found little Bridgette and Marinette struggling to defend themselves from the masked ninjas. Apparently, the group they've been fighting is only baited to distract her. Sabine growl, throwing one of her daggers to the ninja who grabbed Bridgette. The ninja cried out in pain while releasing his grip. With no time wasted, Sabine take a leap and kick the ninja on the head. Then she takes a stance in front of Bridgette, protecting her while trying to gain her breath. All of the fightings already took a lot for her body. They already screaming, asking her to take a break. But Sabine knows she can't. At least not yet when her daughters are still in danger.
She felt really grateful because there's Batman, Nightwing, and Robin who helped her. At that moment, she was punching the last ninja when she heard Bridgette cry, "Marinette!!". It seems there's little ninjas who successfully kidnapped her little Marinette while she was still preoccupied with her fight. Sabine cursed, wanting to immediately chase them but her body said otherwise. She falls. Bridgette cried out, rushing to her mother. Nightwing immediately approaches them, checking any wounds and when he found none, he let out a relieved sigh.
"Madam, it would be safer if you wait here with your daughter..." said Batman who approaches her with Robin in tow.
"No! I'm fine." protest Sabine stubbornly. Although seeing her state, panting hard, and trembling leg doesn't convince the vigilantes at all.
Ignoring their stares, Sabine closed her eyes and take a slow breath. After a few breaths, she felt a bit better. She gets up and stares at Batman with a determined face, "I would not stand still here when my little baby is still out there in danger."
She begins to walk ahead but is stopped by Batman who looming over her, "No, Madam. I believe whoever kidnapping your daughter is a very dangerous one. That's why I would ask you again to stay here with your daughter while I and Nightwing pursue them. Don't worry, Robin would be here protecting both of you." command him, ignoring the protest from Robin.
Little Bridgette only looks worriedly at her mother then Batman, not knowing what to do. Nightwing and Robin too can see the heavy atmosphere between the Asian woman and Batman, unconsciously holding their breath. While Sabine only staring Batman with a calculated look before she sighs, "Okay, you win."
Batman then nodded at Nightwing, missing the glint in Sabine's eyes. When he turned around, he briefly heard a whisper, "I'm sorry" before he felt choked out and his peripheral suddenly changed to the sky. Only after a minute, he realized he was lying down. Not only that, but he also heard a hurried footstep getting far away and a feminine shout out, "ROBIN, I TRUST BRIDGETTE TO YOU!" earning a frightened squeak from the vigilante. After a few seconds, Nightwing then came into his peripheral with an amused face. Batman only grunt before he stood up with Nightwing's help.
"Not a word," said Batman to Nightwing before he can say anything embarrassing. His pride is already hurt because he has been cheated by an Asian woman who is way shorter than him. Nightwing only settled on with a grin before he took off with Batman, pursuing the woman.
Today is Marinette's best day. Or so she thought. She felt really happy when they went out to celebrate her birthday but everything suddenly become worse when a bunch of masked ninjas suddenly attacked them. Not only that, she got kidnapped in the process because she was careless. She can only watch helplessly when Bridgette's scream grew further away. By now she was being carried like a sack by an adult ninja with two other ninjas who weirdly looks so short like her, following them.
Right now Marinette is scared. So scared. She doesn't know what to do. And she's scared of what they would do to her now. Her knowledge of martial arts is still limited after all, and knowing her opponent is an adult one, she knows she would be lost quickly. The possibility of not seeing her mother and her new sister anymore is scaring her so much. So much that she unknowingly let out tears, with occasionally a hiccup. Though when she realizes she is crying, she quickly tried her best to hold her tears, after the one who holds her threatens her, that is.
Although she tried, that doesn't mean the tears stop. Her sight is already blurry with tears so she doesn't notice a sudden movement before she let out a pained gasp when she falls on the ground. When she looks up, she saw one of the masked ninja, who is short like her, gripping a katana that looks way bigger than their body. The katana is already tainted with blood and knowing the adult ninja who is already out cold beside her with his blood pooling out, she of course realized what's going on.
Is he going to kill me? Am I going to die here? No, I don't want that!
She quickly tries to get up when the ninja begins approaching her, only to fall again because her trembling legs give out, too scared with everything that has been happening. Marinette then only stares at the ninja helplessly, unknowingly letting out a whimper.
The ninja surprisingly stopped after hearing her whimper, they slowly released their weapon to the ground while their other hand holding up above, signaling that they don't mean harm to her. Though it doesn't convince Marinette at all so they seem to think for a minute before they took off their mask, revealing a boy with dark skin and emerald eyes.
The instant her bluebell eyes met his emerald eyes, Marinette felt an intense pain on her head, she lets out a surprised gasp, "...Adrien?" before the darkness took her vision. Leaving her body with a stranger boy.
- Sabine tugs hard on Batman's cape when he was caught off guard. So when Batman was surprised, he fall then she took off. Lol.
- Robin here is obviously not Damian. ;)
- Is Damian's eyes green or blue? I don't know but I like the green one though :')
- He didn't kill the ninjas. Only makes them unconscious... Well if one of them died because of blood loss... it doesn't really count, right? Not that he cares though.
- No, Mari is not dead, lmao. She's just unconscious and I'm being dramatic so I wrote it like that.
Okay um, I'm sorry if my writing is so bad. Like I just want to rush out but I know it would look so bad. FYI, this one chapter took me a month lol. My brain already hurt because of the fighting scene, ugh. Why I'm so bad at this. :")
Seeing how my progress looks like on my first chapter. It would likely take one or two months later again for the next chapter.
I think this is all, I'm sorry If I'm missing some people... If you want to be tagged, don't be shy to tell me. If you already tagged but you don't want to be tagged anymore, do tell me okay? I don't want to bother people with my tags.

Daminette December: Master List
The Master: Master List
————————————-
“Achoo” Marinette sneezes with a sniffle. It was the first time Marinette had been over at manor before. She smiled as sees Alfred the cat was rubbing his face on her ankle. She bends down and pets Alfred. She smiles and cooes.
She sneezes as they walk to chill on the couch. Alfred follows them and sits on Marinette’s lap. “Wow, he likes you, it’s a first,” Damian says, petting Alfred’s head. She sneezes again. “Marinette? Are you allergic to cats?”
“I hope not, I’ve always wanted to have a cat and I couldn’t have one when I was younger because I grew up living in a bakery,” Marinette sighs.
“We can get you tested soon if you want to know,” Damian says.
Later that week, Marinette was taken to a specialist and she was told that she was in fact not allergic. When they moved into together Damian surprised her with a baby kitten.
author’s note | You know that tiktok trend where your soulmate can hear the song you’re singing? Yeah, this is it (Also yes I’m aware I skipped days :P ) Note: Paris is 6 hours ahead of New York (Which I’m going to use as a reference for Gotham).

[Gotham, 3pm]
“Again?” Damian grumbled, the tune of the unnamed song drifting through his mind. 3pm classes were usually the worst for him- It seemed to be the time when his soulmate would hum the most.
The melody wafted through his senses and drowned out the teacher’s explanation of the circle theorem. Everything else paled in comparison to the sweet voice that was weaving around in random patterns, drawing a net between him and reality as he relaxed, listening closely to the harmony instead of the teacher.
I wonder what she’s doing, Damian mused. She always hummed at 3pm without fail, going about in for the next 2 hours- Sometimes 3. Without stopping.
[Paris, 9pm] - Same time
A continent away, a certain bluenette was humming happily, feeling rather lively as she sewed the pearls into the hem of her latest commission. The dress was coming along nicely- It was Penny’s dress for her wedding to Jagged, and Marinette would run through hell not once, not twice, but three times in order to get every last detail perfect.
The tune drifted out of her closed lips (That were biting onto a pinch cushion as she only had two hands and those two hands were occupied) as she tightened the thread around her twenty-third pearl. “Seventy-five more to go.” She breathed, picking up another pearl from the container.
Her humming resumed shortly, only pausing whenever she had to take a drink or a breather. Glancing at the time on her alarm clock, Marinette decided that it was time to go for a nightly stroll around the city of lights.
»»——⍟——««
[Gotham, 8pm] - A few hours later
His soulmate’s humming had stopped a few hours ago, and Damian would rather die than admit his mind felt a little too quiet without it, but it was true. Something was just missing when her voice wasn’t running through his mind, humming those unnamed songs that he just wished she could learn the lyrics to so he could at least guess what languages she spoke.
Dinner was a short affair, and after it he swiftly returned to his room to finish up any of his measly assignments. Vivaldi’s winter movement- Allegro mon troppo- Flowed out of his laptop’s speakers as he began humming the familiar melody, once in a while putting down his pen to mimic the movements he would make if he were playing the violin.
[Paris, 2am] - Same time
Eyes squinted open as Marinette groaned, peering at the bedside clock. It wasn’t even surprising anymore- Her soulmate had a tendency to hum classical music in the early hours of the morning- Or the late hours of the night. She rolled back into her bed with a huff as she came to the conclusion that her soulmate was either a very late sleeper/a very early riser or he lived in a different timezone.
The notes of Vivaldi’s winter movement cascaded familiarly over Marinette as she let them lull her to sleep, knowing the melody by heart as her soulmate had been singing the movement for weeks now.
»»——⍟——««
[Gotham, 6am] - A few hours later
Damian groaned, his eyes reluctantly stretching them open to allow a little light into his receptor cells. A familiar tune lingered in the back of his mind, soft and hiding away, just simply existing quietly-
His eyes widened. He sure wasn’t the one that was humming the tune, so…
His soulmate was humming Vivaldi’s first winter movement.
[Paris, 3pm] - Same time
“Marinette,” Adrien said after a moment, stopping in his tracks as he looked up from their assigned classwork to turn towards the girl seated behind him. “Are you singing Vivaldi?”
“Oh, that’s what it is?” Marinette looked delighted. “I’ve been asking around to see if anyone knew what I was singing!”
The blonde looked slightly surprised. “Wait- What you’re saying is…”
“My soulmate’s a Vivaldi fan, I suppose.” The bluenette shrugged with a smile on her face. “He hums it in the middle of the night. Has such a lovely voice, too.”
please help me by reblogging these fics! Pretty sure Tumblr has me in tag jail atm so I don’t think much of my stuff is showing up on people’s dashes. Thank you so much!
Marinette was so glad to be back. After a month long mission away from her family and friends, she was back home in Gotham. She entered the Manor with a smile on her face and grinned as she saw her husband in the kitchen, his back to her.
"Damian?"
He turned around to look at his wife which tired eyes, although there was a strange bundle in his arms.
Marinette raised her eyebrow, "Did Bruce adopt another kid?"
Damian rolled his eyes, "Not another, no."
Her eyebrows rose, "Oh so he always had this baby?" She quipped back.
"In a way. Here, take him."
Marinette shook her head and grabbed the child being trusted at her while Damian scurried off, only to come back wearing a papoose with another baby in it, pushing a twin baby buggy with two other children in it. Marinette's eyes grew incredulously.
Her exasperated expression only grew when Alfred followed, also wearing a papoose and pushing a twin buggy.
"What the fu-"
Alfred's sharp eye glared at her.
"-dge?"
Damian sighed, "They got hit by some Youth Ray or something. I don't know, I haven't slept in days. I've been trying to fix it."
"What do you mean 'Youth Ray', who are these babies?"
She looked down at the child in her arms only to notice a Nightwing inspired onesie on him.
"Oh," she grinned, "Don't tell me you actually went out and bought them their own costumes."
Damian looked as if his hair was falling out, "It's the only way to tell them apart. Why does he have to adopt children that look exactly the same?!"
"Please tell me you took pictures."
He glared at his wife, "Do you take me for a fool?"
…..
Weeks later, after the whole Batfamily returned to their normal states, Bruce almost cried when he realised how many baby pictures he now had.
He actually cried when he realised he couldn't tell his own children apart.
“Make way guys, out of the way!” Dick bellowed from the entrance of the batcave. “Alfred, we need you!”
Marinette, jostled in his arms with every step, tried to liberate herself from her brother-in-law’s iron grip. “Calm down, I’m fine.”
“No offense bug, but I just watched you get crushed by a steel beam. Alfred is checking you over.”
“Tikki, spots,” Marinette said, as he deposited her on a cot. “See, not a bruise on me. I only jumped in to save that kid because I knew I would be fine. I’ve been eaten by a t-rex before, I was perfectly safe.”
“You what?” Damian demanded darkly.
“Dames! How was your patrol?” Marinette asked, grinning at the sight of her husband.
“What just happened to you on patrol?” Damian demanded.
“Dick is overreacting. I know it can be kind of… unsettling to see things like that, but the Miraculous suits are nearly indestructible. Only another Miraculous or some type of magic could hurt me while I’m suited up.”
She leaned in to kiss Damian’s cheek, but his face was stone.
“How Did All This Happen?”- A Memoire by one Marinette Dupain-Cheng 5
hi. im back. after slightly longer than usual (my usual was like everyday, not happening again) i have returned. :) this update is also slightly longer than usual too but who complains about that?
“How Did All This Happen?”- A Memoire by one Marinette Dupain-Cheng 1
Soooooo I decided to write this. much longer than the other things i posted, also very tonally different. I will definitely continue that other fic tho. I was just brainstorming and now this exists. Yeah.
without further ado
People Fucked Up and Now It’s All Marinette’s Mess to Clean Up I
I wasn’t going to write anything for Daminette December, and yet! Here I am! While thinking of a concept for Day 5, I then remembered that there were people who wanted a follow up for Spellbound, so I combined the two!
Marinette stood by the Leyline Terminal, muttering to herself as she did a mental checklist.
ID? Check.
Purse? Check.
Phone? Check.
Sketchbook and pencils? Check.
Wand? Check.
Extra batteries? Check.
Hat?….
“How did I forget my hat?” Marinette whined, scanning her room for it but knew there was no use in looking for it when she couldn’t find it.
It was almost time to meet with Damian, so if she wanted to meet him in time, she’d just have to go without it.
Grabbing her purse, Marinette took off.
She yelled and apologized to friends she almost bumped into, ignoring their questions of ‘where are you heading?’ She slowed down and speed walked when she saw teachers and the headmistress, flashing an awkward smile as she waved at her.
Running past the campus’ quad, Marinette managed to get to the Leyline Terminal on time, wanting to collapse to the floor as soon as she got there.
“Worried you were going to be late for our date?” Damian teased.
“Well, I wouldn’t- Damian!” Marinette squeaked, feeling the tips of her ears glow with heat. “Ha-how long have you been-”
“Not long.” Damian replied, standing in front of her. “Are you ready to head out?” Grinning, Marinette nodded.
“Yup!”
She followed Damian, confused when he suddenly stopped. “What’s wrong?” She asked, peering over his shoulder, wondering why he was hesitant to walk into the empty-
Empty?
“The car that dropped me off…is gone.” Damian huffed, not believing that Dick actually meant what he said earlier. He really did mean it when he said that Damian should use his own efforts to make their outing a success.
“Gone? So, they-”
“Left? Yes.” Damian sighed, taking out his phone to text his father only for Marinette to place her hand over his. He looked up. “What’s wrong?”
“We can still get to the other side without your car.”
“How?” Damian asked, wondering how exactly did she think they would get to the other side of the magical barrier without-
He watched as she whipped out her wand, a broad smile across her face. “Right. Magic.”
“Make sure to not move around too much. We might fall and get lost in the Leyline if you do.” Marinette warned, looking at her wand and then at him. “Would you like to try casting the spell?”
Damian looked at the wand she was offering him and received it. “How does the spell go?”
Smiling, Marinette placed her hands over his, adjusting his posture before letting go.
“First, you have to close your eyes.” He did. “Now, repeat after me. Tia Freye!”
“Tia Freye!” Damian recited, opening his eyes when he felt himself being lifted off the floor, watching as a magic circle lifted them to the ceiling above them, watching as it bursted open, green speckles of stardust falling past them.
Awestruck, Damian watched as they made their way into the Leyline, not being able to take his eyes off the minty scenery around them.
“Do you have a place of mind? Or would you like to go to the default station in England?”
Damian looked at Marinette, her hair- were in a pair of twin braids…it suited her just like her pigtails.
“The Leyline can take us anywhere?” Damian asked. She nodded. “Anywhere? Even if I haven’t been there in a while?” Marinette nodded again.
“You just have to concentrate on the place in mind while we exit the Leyline. With the place in mind, the Leyline will lead you to the closest terminal in that country.”
“I see.” Damian said, concentrating on the place he had in mind. “Hope you don’t mind some cave exploring.”

An F.
Marinette screamed into her pillow as she kicked her legs in frustration.
Another F to add to her long list of exam grades. Another F despite the countless nights Marinette stayed up to study and practice the little magic she knew.
Sure, she wasn’t blessed with the talent of Kagami nor that of Chloe’s, but that didn’t mean Marinette deserved to fail.
She bleed, sweated and cried to earn her spot at this school, her first choice school despite her parents wanting her to stay in their hometown and help at the bakery.
But she didn’t want to be a baker.
She wanted to be a witch. Just like Chariot.
So, she made it her goal.
She fought against her parents’ wishes to achieve her dream, of following it.
She earned her place at Luna Nova, the most prestigious wizard school in all of Europe.
And yet… why was the universe so against her being here?
Despite getting in with one of the highest scores, Marinette now had the lowest ones in her grade and she honestly didn’t know why.
“One more F and I’ll get expelled.” Marinette muttered out loud, laying on her back, staring at the underside of the bed above hers - Alya’s bed. “One more mistake and I’ll be proven myself wrong.”
If she failed, it would give her parents a reason to tie her down to their bakery. She would’ve proven them right. That she wasn’t up for the Magic life, even though she claimed she was.
Marinette felt the lump in her throat, her vision blurring as that thought echoed within her mind.
“No! I can’t give up!” Marinette told herself, getting up a bit too quickly, bumping her bed as she got up, Tikki humming at her in concern.
“I’ll be fine Tikki.” Marinette told the red faerie hovering beside her. “I just need more practice.”
Grabbing her textbook, her wand and some emergency energy, Marinette stuffed them into her bag, slinging in over her attire.
“I promise to be careful and be back before dawn. Wouldn’t like the professors catching me again.” Marinette petted the faerie, opening the window of her dorm room to go off to her favorite spot on campus to practice.
She can’t give up yet.
It was still too soon to call quits.
Her fate hasn’t been sealed. Not yet.
-
“Where is Marinette?” Rose asked Alya, scanning the room. Before panic could settle into Rose, Juleka gave her girlfriend’s hand a squeeze, receiving one back.
“Sulking over her test grade.” Alya replied, not once looking away from the lens she finished adjusting on her newest camera model. “Do you think all of the Wayne boys will be here?”
“Seeing as tonight’s party is for them, I would believe so.” Alix answered, not believing that Alya really left Mari on her own. If previous events taught them anything, Mari should never be left alone. Never.
One time, they found her stuck in a glass jar. It was a miniaturization spell gone wrong.
“Can’t wait to finally use these new lenses I got for my birthday! And to get a scoop on the Waynes!” Alya squealed, her friends shaking their heads, although they had to agree.
It wasn’t everyday that your school received the news that Bruce Wayne and his family was to visit your school
Especially wizarding ones like Luna Nova.
But while the girls couldn’t contain their excitement to see their school’s greatest sponsor face-to-face, the girls also had a feeling they were going to miss something even more important that night.
-
Damian huffed, dragging his hand down his face, not believing that he actually got separated from the rest of the family as they made their way inside of Luna Nova.
He had just gotten here and he was already lost.
And it was all because he was the smallest of the boys, meaning he was the easiest to push around. One push led to another, Jason pushing Damian into the nearest bush, causing Damian to get lost.
As he wandered through the school grounds, eventually wandering into what seemed to be ruins next to a forest, he couldn’t help but hear what seemed to be spells being called out, Damian’s curiosity now peaking.
He never knew what exactly fascinated him about magic, but whenever he ever got the chance to be near it, he absorbed it. So when his father told them about his visit to Luna Nova, Damian eagerly asked to join him.
Of course, this outburst caused his other siblings to become intrigued and join as well, much to Damian’s annoyance.
As he got closer to the voice, a girl in all black attire (save for the maroon skirt) came to view, Damian captivated by her stance. She was still, the breeze accepting her as she stood there, silent like the night.
The girl took a deep breath before raising her wand, Damian watching the tip glow a dim green.
As she exhaled, she shouted, “Metamorphie Faciesse!” Damian watched as the spell hit the thing between them -a falling leaf- turn into a rock, hitting the ground with a soft thud.
He watched as she opened her eyes, confident bluebell eyes turning to joy when she saw her success.
“I got that down, but I still have to nail the full body one.” He heard her say, wondering if she was here to practice her spells. “Metamorphie Faciesse!” She shouted once more, a cloud appearing before vanishing around the girl, Damian staring at her wide eyed.
Rabbit ears were on her head.
Were they actual…rabbit ears?
Or were they just attachments?
Unable to restrain himself, Damian didn’t catch his mistake until a piercing yelp rang through the silent night.
-
Just Marinette was about to scold herself for not doing the spell correctly, a sharp pain coursed through her body, causing her to cry in pain.
“Who said it was okay to touch them, nonetheless squeeze them! They’re my ears, whether you want to believe it or not and because they are, they’re very…” Marinette scolded, turning to see a boy standing before her. “…sensitive.” She finished, wondering what a boy was doing on school grounds.
If she recalled, Luna Nova was always an All Girls school, meaning there shouldn’t be any boys, unless…
“My apologies, Miss…?” The boy asked, Marinette noticing that his eyes never stop staring at her ears. Covering them, Marinette decided to respond.
“Dupain-Cheng.” Marinette softly said. “Marinette Dupain-Cheng. And you are?” She asked with a tilt of her head, wondering why the boy looked taken aback when she asked for his name.
Well…this was a first for Damian. A person who didn’t know who he was? Interesting.
“Damian. Damian Wayne.” Damian answered, bowing a bit.
Damian… Wayne… no way…
“You’re Mr.Wayne’s son?! Devilish Damian?!” Marinette screamed, covering her mouth as she felt rise to her ears. “I’m sorry! It’s just that! It’s the name the girls in the school call you. You know, because despite being cold, cool and being a bit of a devil, they think you’re very attractive. Not that I don’t also think that… Oh god! What-” Marinette rambled, wishing she could successfully cast the spell so that she can hide away from Damian.
Meanwhile, Damian found her honesty quite charming, wondering if she’d still be honest with him now that she knew who he was.
“Miss Dupain-Cheng.”
“Yes?”
“Would you mind showing me how that spell works?” Damian reached over for her ears, Marinette taking a step back. “Sorry. I should’ve asked-”
“Do you not know magic?” Marinette asked, her heart aching when she saw his face fall.
“While Mother wished for me to learn magic as soon as I turned three, those dreams were crushed when she found out I am not able to contain any energy from the Sorcerer’s Stone.” Damian frowned, Marinette wanting to slap herself for asking something so sensitive. “And because I know no magic, Father has taken upon himself to not let me near it.”
Damian held the urge to curse, knowing fully that his father wouldn’t have done said decision if Damian had been his adopted son and not biological.
“So you’ve never been able to cast a spell?”
“No.”
“What if I say that you can?” Marinette said with a smirk, Damian keen on wanting to know more. When Marinette saw his eyes sparkle, she felt her heart jump. With a smile, she continued. “All you have to do is follow me.”
Marinette guided Damian further into the forest, glad to have brought some extra energy capsules.

“Damian!” Dick yelled, wondering where his brother went, a full hour having passed since the family last saw him.
It took having to introduce themselves to realizing that Damian had gone missing, employing a hunt for the young Wayne.
So here he was, searching for the brat, knowing that if he didn’t find him first, Tim will. And if Tim found him…Dick knew that it wouldn’t end well.
Just as Dick was about to call Damian again, he spotted him in the distance, letting out a sigh of relief when he saw him. However, just as Dick started to jog up towards him, he heard a spell get cast.
“Murowa!”
Dick watched as a spell approached Damian, fighting off the urge to freeze in place. He had to get to Damian and counter the spell before-
“Ein Ein Sof.” Damian spoke, lifting up what resembled a wand. “Ein Sof Ohr.” A dim green light began to glow. “Luna Lana!”
Dick watched as the attack spell dispersed, coming to halt when he saw Damian without a scorch on his attire, his suit still intact.
“Damian! You did it!” A girl screamed, Dick flabbergasted when she ran up to Damian and hugged him, the girl jumping around him as Damian smiled at the wand in his hand. “You casted your first spell!”
“I had an amazing teacher after all.” Damian softly said, Dick watching the girl softly come to a stop, a blush across her face. Dick smiled when he watched the girl play with her- are those rabbit ears?
“Metamorphie Faciesse.” Dick whispered, watching as the girl quickly took out her wand when she felt her ears return to normal. Wait… did she think-
“Foraen Mugrowna! Turuto Tarumare!” The girl yelled, putting herself in front of Damian, determination filling her eyes.
“Wait! I’m-” But it was too late.
Vines crept around Dick’s body, quickly apprehending him, making him fall to the ground, his face meeting the dirt and sharp rocks beneath him.
As the dirt cleared up from his vision, Dick saw Damian come to view, though he was standing behind the midnight haired girl who glared at him, her wand at his forehead.
“Grayson?”
“You know him?” The girl asked, not letting her eye off him.
“Brother of mine. Adopted.” Damian filled in, Dick frowning.
“Mon Dieu! He’s a Wayne!” Dick was then promptly helped up, the spirits the girl had summoned now healing him. He watched as she frantically started to patch him up. “I am so sorry.”
“I should be apologizing.” Dick started, looking over at Damian who sported a grin. “I shouldn’t have-”
“Holy shit. It really was Demon Spawn.” A new voice said, Damian scowling when he saw Jason, not noticing that Marinette had the same reaction.
“Todd.” Damian gritted, his scowl worsening when he saw that Tim was right behind him.
“We’ve been looking all over the place for you brat!”
“And whose fault do you-”
“And who are you?” Jason asked, Damian realizing that he was now beside Marinette. He was about to go and pull him away, but chose not to. After all, she just proved that she can defend herself.
“Marinette Dupain-Cheng.” Marinette spoke sternly, her glare never lifting.
“Well Marinette, thank you for-”
“Foraen Mugrowna!” Marinette yelled, grabbing Damian’s hand as yells and curses filled the cool night air.
Damian looked back, watching as large vines wrapped themselves around his siblings, feeling a smile make its way onto his face.
Turning back, he watched as a grin was on Marinette’s face, the moonlight highlighting her pale features.
“Are you free this weekend?” Damian asked, making sure to still watch his footing as they kept running, listening as the voice of his angered siblings grew louder.
“I’m free, why?”
“I want to thank you for tonight. Maybe grab some-”
“I’d be happy to join you.” Marinette said, returning her focus on the path ahead, guiding Damian back onto the campus grounds. “Saturday at 10? By the school entrance?” She asked, letting go of his hand.
”Sounds like a date then.” Damian promised, smirking as Marinette’s face turned bright pink. “I’ll see you Saturday then, Miss Marinette.”
Marinette loved flowers. Everyone dear to her knew that. Obviously, she couldn’t always get flowers but if you needed a gift for her, flowers were the clear option.
Damian knew this, so every year, he’d buy her flowers and a gift on top. It’d always be a practical one like a roll of fabric or a jacket and mittens because of how easily she got sick. Her response always made his day, whether she’d try and return it to him, which he would never allow. Or, she would turn into a tomato on the spot. It was assuring yet amusing to say the least when he would check their commemorative photos and she would always have an exhausted yet flustered expression. No matter how much she whined, those were his favourite photos.
Damian had always been creative with the flowers he got. They had lovely scents, complemented her outfits or their colour signified something. Usually, he had gotten roses, Marinette’s favourite by far, that were yellow with petals that were tinged red. They always meant ‘we’re friends but I think I’m falling in love with you.’ That translated in Damian speak was, ‘you’re a reliable acquaintance but now you’re more tolerable’. If Marinette ever noticed his love, she didn’t comment. However, she was oblivious. Much like he was to his own feelings.
Damian knew when love was unrequited. At least, he thought he did. Marinette’s infatuation with Adrien had never been healthy yet she never realised. Even when it broke her heart to see Adrien fawn over other people of the human species, she’d still chase after him. Literally. And it was always up to him to pick up the pieces. Damian did it, knowing it would scar his heart deeper than each wound ran and yet, he was willing to endure the pain if it meant she was happy and smiling.
That had fuelled his competitive nature with Adrien. You see, Damian and Adrien were bitter rivals. They didn’t like each other; hell, Damian had destroyed him in an exhibition match when he first arrived. The day was still clear in his mind. Marinette had sided with Adrien and whilst he couldn’t pretend that that didn’t hurt, he fought with such fervour, such ferocity, that he forgot the pain. Momentarily. For days, he ignored Marinette. He let his phone go to voicemail, didn’t read her texts, brushed past her at school. He couldn’t speak to her. He couldn’t look at her and he knew he was being selfish but he needed some time.
It didn’t help his heart when he saw her face- tears in her eyes and a face like a lost puppy.
Although, he knew Adrien would deal with it. And deal with it he did. It shouldn’t have hurt to see Marinette in his arms, her eyes tinged red and her cheeks rouge. It really shouldn’t have. After all, everyone knew that Marinette was in love with Adrien. So, he really should have expected when they had their first kiss.
Or when they went on their first date.
Or when Marinette forgot about him. Forgot was a harsh verb but in the last two months, he’d only seen her twice. She had been too preoccupied with Adrien to notice her relationship with him was falling apart. The late 3am conversations stopped abruptly. There were no more flowers or elaborate gifts. He stuck to the bare minimum because he wanted -no- he needed to be selfish.
He needed time away from them. From her. It wasn’t as if he didn’t feel happy for her, that was far from what had happened but... was it selfish to love knowing it would never be returned? It was futile pondering over the ‘what ifs' but it was nice to let his mind wander. Longing never eased his predicament but it was a temporary relief.
One where he didn’t have to lock eyes with them and pretend that his shoes were more interesting. One where he wouldn’t have to walk in the opposite direction or take a longer route to avoid them. Or where he didn’t see the piteous glances and snide glares directed at him.
He wanted to feel content. Joyous that Marinette found someone that made her happy.
Which was why he needed to go back. Back to where everything made sense. Back to Gotham. He wasn’t important here anyway. Marinette wouldn’t miss him.
That was the first lie he told himself.
Hands stuffed in pockets and head low, he walked to school, knowing it would be the last time he would see it. He had been hoping to avoid anyone he knew but alas, the goddess of luck was against him. He could see Marinette sprinting towards him and as tempted as he was to run away, it just wasn’t worth the effort. Especially not today. So instead, he pulled himself farther into his hoodie, obscuring his face. His attempt to blend into the background had been foiled by the meddling girl that was Marinette. And that annoyed him.
This was the second lie he told himself.
Marinette had stuck to him like glue. The entire day, she was at his side. And the reason was bluntly obvious as to why that was. Adrien had been busy. Marinette wouldn’t tell anyone where he’d gone but it was pretty clear that he wasn’t at school. Damian was happy to have Marinette back but he would have preferred it under different circumstances. He didn’t want to act as an Adrien 2.0. He wanted Marinette to hang out with him because she wanted to see him. Not because her boyfriend wasn’t in.
Her actions had soured his mood and yet his heart ached for her. Today had probably meant nothing to her but it meant the world to him. It was an amazing way to go back home, carrying sweet memories of your best friend with you. The flight had been booked for tomorrow in the afternoon, giving him loads of time to pour his feelings into a letter for her. He needed the closure from his first love. Sure, he’d dated around, trying to find anything strong enough to drown his feelings. But they were never enough. Nothing ever was when she was around.
Which is why he had ordered a large bouquet of yellow roses. Yellow roses tinged red at the tips of the petals. If he was going to write her a letter, he needed to go back. Back to when he first fell. Fell completely in love.
The letter had come out better than he had expected. Short and precise yet he was oddly satisfied with how it turned out. The hardest part was how to get everything to Marinette without her responding. He already knew what her response would be. And he didn’t want to hear it. He didn’t want his heart to shatter. Not when it was already so broken. He knew that the best time to give it to her would be when she was asleep or working in the bakery which is why he went in the afternoon.
He loaded his luggage into a taxi-something so common that he would never have done before. Taking several deep breaths, he waited, watching his hand shake as he yanked open the door.
“Hey, Mrs Cheng.”
“Damian, what a lovely surprise. You must be here for Marinette?” A solemn nod was all the answer she needed. “Make your way upstairs. And call me Sabine.”
“Will do next time, Mrs Cheng.” He ran up the stairs, a small grin on his face as he knocked on her trapdoor. Giving it a few seconds, he knocked again before entering.
“I’ll just go.” He muttered, leaving the letter and bouquet on the stairwell. He turned on his heel, eyes shining as he tried desperately to compose himself. That was what Marinette had meant when she said that Adrien was “busy". They were too busy making out to notice his presence. Once again. He should have been used to it.
So, why did he feel like shit when he heard Marinette call after him? Or when he hopped into the taxi, knowing that she couldn’t catch up to him? Why did he feel like he was wrong? Like he was too clingy? He pushed her away. He grew too dependent on her being in his life. She could do whatever she wanted. She didn’t belong to him or anyone for that matter. If she was happy with Adrien, so be it.
It was his fault for being too slow.
Hisfaulthisfaulthisfaulthisfault.
The taxi was booked for the next two hours which gave him enough time to come to terms with everything. He’d finally see his family; he’d get to hold Titus and play with Alfred and feed Batcow. He’d be back on patrol for his vigilante duties and he would do a kick ass job at it. And there would be no more feelings. No more overwhelming emotions that had to be kept bottled up. No more feeling alone surrounded by people who didn’t understand him. But most of all, no more Marinette. And it hurt to think like that.
Marinette was relentless. That much he knew. So, he was expecting her to try and find him. Which is why he booked the flight at the most obscure airport. He locked eyes with her, seeing her dart towards him, letter in hand. She had still found him and as he watched her run, he felt his chest constrict. And not in the good way. Functioning purely on adrenaline, he ran, pushing her out of the way of the approaching car. He heard the desperate squeal of the tyres. The sound of the sirens.
Yet, the thing that was clearest to him was the guttural scream that ripped through Marinette’s throat.
And in that moment, he wanted to hold her hand, stroke her head, whisper comforting words to her. Anything that would help ease her sorrow. But all he could offer her was his shaking hand as he rubbed his finger against her knuckles.
“I want,” he coughed, spitting out the thick substance onto the ground. “I want you to forget about me. I’ll only cause you pain.”
That was his third and final lie before he was wheeled off into the back of an ambulance.
It took four hours for him to be pronounced dead.
It took a month for his funeral to happen.
It took a year for Marinette to stop blaming herself for his death.
It took her 70 years to forget about him.
Everyone dear to Marinette knew she hated flowers. The only ones she loved where the ones that Damian had given to her. And with her they remained, still upright as if someone had been trying to tell her that they were there.

“You’re all pathetic.” Damian hissed, twisting the sword out of yet another knight’s grip. “How are you supposed to protect me when you can’t even beat me in a duel?” His sharp words glared at the line of knights that had applied to be Gotham’s prince’s personal guard. None of them lived up to his expectations, and at this point Damian wasn’t even surprised anymore.
He huffed impatiently. “Is that all you lot have got?”
