Zeynep slumped into the seat across from whom she assumed was one of her coworkers at their regular table the diner for their weekly book club meeting, which mostly doubled as a wine night and shit-talking session since nobody ever had time to read the book of the month. She was so drained from the sixteen hours she’d put in at the station she hadn’t bothered to look up or even say hello before she dove right into the menu. “Think I’m getting the shrimp and grits this time..you only live once but if you do it right, once is enough, or however that saying goes,” she said, peering over her menu only to find a complete stranger sitting before here. “Oh, gosh, I really need to pay more attention. I’m Zey, welcome! You must be new to the club. What’d you think of this month’s book? New people usually come all prepared and ready to have an actual discussion. I can’t speak anyone else, but I  only read the cover myself, I’m totally here for the wine,” she chuckled sticking out her hand.

What are your two favorite poems?

You’re asking a lit major to only choose two?  Wow, that’s like asking me to choose between air and water. I don’t think I could even narrow it down to a favorite poet. I have a crazy range of favorites from Sylvia Plath to E.E. Cummings to Sappho. 

However, if I must choose, I’d say...

What are your three favorite films?

This is a hard one to narrow down but I’m on an indie kick lately.  If I were to pick three I’d probably  recommend you check out Fruitvale Station, Drugstore Cowboy and Maria Full of Grace.

What is your favorite painting?

This self portrait of Kahlo...it depicts her after she'd been hit by a bus and the bondage she felt at the time so I've read.
