'That.' Ah. Immediately his gaze followed the cast of
her arm, revealing, well, several items stuck in a tree.
Including her shoes, but it all added up in that instance,
the bewildering puzzle pieces falling into place. Already,
the footballer’s mind had drifted away from curiosity over
this girl’s accent and ( apparently minimal ) grasp of Korean.
He didn’t mind it, instead looking back to her to see her brow
furrow as she further spoke, seemingly upset either with trying
to guess her way through words or having lost her purse and shoes.
Eungyeol would guess it was some combination of both.
❝ O-oh! Your shoes! ❞
Gaze once more was cast between the tree and the girl, his
own brow creasing in confusion as well. ❝ How did that
happen? ❞ But he hadn’t waited for a response,
instead waving a dismissive hand.
❝ Aish, nevermind that. I don’t want you to lose mine up there
as well! I’ll get them down for you. ❞
And already, was he talking too much? He knew he tended
to talk a lot, but he didn’t want to leave her in the dust or
something. But with a smile and a quick thumbs up, he
straightened and moved towards the tree, hands
on hips as he studied it.
( He was a full twenty centimeters taller than her, after all. )
So with a small running start and a foot placed upon the tree
for extra leverage, he managed to grasp the first branch,
grunting with effort as he heaved himself up.
Though Jiayi usually could understand most of what people
were saying to her (since it wasn't as if she wasn't having any
deep conversations yet). Her lack of confidence with her Korean,
however, typically made her seem like some tourist who was only
hear on a quick vacation, maybe to watch some KPOP group. But
that was hardly the case.
She was about to attempt to explain what happened, but, the boy
seemed to get jist of it already, and Jiayi was thankful. But then he
started talking about something else--something about his shoes,
and then? Jia caught the word down. Before she could even assume
what he meant, he gave her a thumbs up, and ran towards the tree.
"--aiyo-ahhh! What ! . . . uhhhhhhh . . . " He was going to climb up there
for her? But it was dangerous! And if something happened, well--Jiayi
barely even spoke the language! Repeating an "ah ah ah" of slight panic,
she pulled out her translator, which thankfully had been in her pocket
instead of her purse (her wallet, phone, and keys, however...). But she soon
realized the only thing she could think of saying in the moment, she already
knew how to, and thus the girl moved closer towards the tree, one hand
cupping her mouth as she called up. "ARE YOU OKAY?? Really?! Is this
really okay?!" she was wincing just watching, not a fan of daredevil
stunts--not after her brother had once got a gash in his head and she had
to stare at his scarecrow, stitched up face for weeks.
Fingers quickly typed into the translator, the girl pressing her ear to it as
she copied the pronunciator. "Don't--DON'T BE A HERO!" Jia shouted,
eyeing the thin branches with horror.
