fun fact: if you look up "first asian-american Elphaba on broadway" it will say the answer is Alyssa Fox. however, if you were to include UNDERSTUDIES in that statistic, then the answer would be Maria Eberline - my semi-distant cousin. she was the understudy for Elphaba (and Nessarose) on a US tour in 2005; partway through the tour the original Elphaba dropped out, and Maria took over.
