entered my workaholic era this june and NOPE. NOT FOR ME. i will be going back to being the chill, loving-my-life, don’t-bother-me-after-five, my-work-is-not-my-life, me-my-family-and-my-friends-are-what-matters, kind of employee thank youuu

no more overtime, no more doing more than what’s required. i will do the work the best i can, and then leave all the worries on my undecorated, bland, gray, government desk in my hospital lighted cubicle the moment clock strikes 5. and then i’ll live my life with my amazing friends, loving family and dearest husband. i’ll drink matchas and go to beaches and drink beer and wear cute pink dresses and wear butterfly earrings and wear backless tops and multiple bracelets and have lots of hot sex with my husband. i will spend my salary and not feel guilty that the other employees don’t get as much. i don’t have to work harder than everyone else just to justify to them and myself that i deserve it. i don’t have to keep proving i’m the boss

Hiii Atty! Currently a struggling 1L. Any tips? 🥺 badly need one. Been having a really difficult time with establishing discipline. I also get anxious during recits so I always find myself blanking out. And even when I know what to say or the answer to a specific question, I get scared of volunteering. I feel overwhelmed due to amount of reading assignments/cases. Maybe it’s a bad thing that I entered law school as an introvert? ATTYYYY 😭 I’m so lost I’m sorry

There’s nothing wrong with being an introvert. I’m an introvert. But I get what you mean. I still struggle with this myself sometimes (especially these past weeks hehe lalo na yung nabablanko part pag kausap si judge haha). But at the end of the day, the beauty is that, calming yourself fast enough to find the words during recits, time management, resilience… these are all just skills we can improve and work on. We just have to decide that the goal is worth all the work. Sabay tayo mag improve kakaiyak ko lang din haha. It’s not such a crazy concept to finish law school and pass the bar as an introvert. Thousands of lawyers pass the bar every year… you think every single one’s an extrovert?💕

life update since i switched to the judiciary team

✨ i feel like i forget that i got to really enjoy the weeks before i got appointed. i was able to rest from work, and was able to go to the beach and attend a fun wedding in batangas

✨ we were able to switch to an earlier sched with our coach!! so i can still play tennis at 6am and then go to work for my 8-5

✨ i was able to finish 2 orders for work this long weekend while enjoying our staycation

✨ also was able to meet up with friends. i swear my 8-5 is not going to eat me up

✨ i got to buy my own printer for work, microphones for the courtroom, and coffee for my staff💕

✨ i have friends visiting me in court and bringing me coffee/matcha. most importantly, my husband does too

did i fucking do the right thing going back to being a gov’t employee lawyer??? potangina puro ot tapos lahat ng gamit ng office naka mr sa akin pero sarili ko lang printer di ko marequest kase madami na printer office??? tapos yung trabaho puro na nga ot tapos yung sahod delayed pa automatic. pero alam ko naman na yon. ang kinakainis ko e yung delay na 3 mos baka madagdagan pa kase ang daming putanginang requirements na need at para maasikaso ko mga yon need ko pa magleave??? wtf??? Re your post re lawyer who implied you don't have litigation clients, can you give some more clues or tell me who that is? I think I know based on your description: junior lawyer, teaches, partners with other lawyers outside the office. Or maybe I just have a wild imagination so wanted to know. Don't worry I'm not asking because I think it's me. I just really want to know please if it's okay with you.

it was an offhand comment made by one of the best people i know, never meant maliciously, that unfortunately didn't land the way it was intended. it received far more attention than it deserved. i'd do well to forget it. hope you have a good weekend 🤎

my family knows, my husband knows, and few of my friends do also. i make sure to tell them it’s kind of like my diary though so they don’t go snooping. do i know u in real life? 🤎

last time i worked in this office, i was the cdo. i had just passed the bar exam. our boss was the branch clerk of court.

today, i’m back… with a few years of legal practice, and a few legal experiences worth mentioning.

today, i took my oath as the branch clerk of court.

soaked up the sun, went to a wedding, had a seizure, will open the law office one last time later, and will take an oath tomorrow as branch clerk of court. life’s happening so fast this week. i mean, i’ve been waiting for this since forever and now that my appointment’s here, i can’t move

got some good news today and i wanted to keep the good day going. so when someone from law school wanted to play tennis with my husband and i, my initial reaction was that i want to. it was 5pm. we just got home. my husband looked at me and said something like, “are you sure you’re not going to run out of social battery?” i know exactly what he meant. i used to go to therapy and my therapist used to tell me i show signs of bipolar disorder. i never got diagnosed though. maybe it’s bpd, it’s probably not, but i know it’s something. and i know what my husband meant. he knows i’m happy now but something might switch during. and when i switch, everyone’s the enemy.

i promised him i won’t switch though, so we went to the court.

3-4 hrs in, i switched. i ruined a really good day. i hated everyone. felt like everyone was judging me. felt like this one guy was talking to my husband but not me. got pissed that this one girl felt like she can talk to me. i know i’m irrational at this point but the feelings are real. now i’m replaying every conversation, thinking about how i should’ve answered this/that way instead. my classmate from law school asked if we wanted to play tomorrow after my husband and i’s coaching session… i looked at my husband and said that we have a lot on our plate tomorrow (which is true). my husband took that as me being too tired already so he cancelled our tennis coaching session tomorrow and i got even more pissed because i wanted to go to the coaching session. i just didn’t feel like playing with others tomorrow.

hayyyy. but it’s okay. my husband and i are good now. i just don’t know what’s wrong with me. and gracie abrams released that song and i can’t stop playing it and it’s making me feel even worse. eto ba yung sinasabi nilang you’ll feel like you’re hitting a low right before transitioning into a better life. bec man i feel low

another friend just told me this. maybe you’re right. not everything’s a personal attack. but the “baka nga panota-notaryo lang si kams sa office niya e” really got to me

i have this lawyer friend… and apparently she said that she’s having a hard time getting her own cases outside of the law office where she’s a junior partner. most of her work comes from the office itself, and she earns through percentages from the cases she handles and the documents she notarizes.

context: i used to be a loose partner before becoming a solo practitioner… i handled my own cases and received 100% of my professional fees and notarial fees (my boss was generous, i know).

i was told today that this lawyer friend thinks i may not be doing well now that i’m on my own and that all i probably get these days are notarial fees.

what she doesn’t know is that i still receive cases from my former senior lawyer (kaya ninong namin sa kasal), and at this point, i even return some because there are already too many for me to handle. i don’t just notarize. i’m doing litigation, and i’m doing well.

and to be fair to her, she probably didn’t even mean it the way it sounded. she herself admitted she’s been struggling to get her own cases, so she teaches and collaborates with other lawyers outside her office to get by. maybe what she said was projection more than anything else.

but she’s also my friend.

so somehow, even knowing all of that, it still hurt hearing that this is how she sees me.
