“ oh, like the stuff those clowns drink ? sure, i like cotton candy, ” he shrugged, thankful that his lingering gaze on her wasn’t too noticeable.
it took days of waiting for the right moment, but zig was finally able to swipe the master key card from the janitor. he swore he’d return it once the deed was done anyways — place it somewhere so that the owner would think they simply dropped it. the next step was to get the goods into fitz’s dorm, so there he stood on the other’s floor, peering around the corner to the entrance of his place as he waited for some type of confirmation that it was vacant. after what felt like hours of waiting, he finally spotted fitz making an exit.

fishing the key card out from his pocket, he was quick to make his way inside once the habitant was out of sight. zig wasn’t entirely sure who fitz’s roommate was, but judging by appearance alone, it was easy to tell what bed belonged to the miscreant. he didn’t want to waste anytime looking around, knowing either of the dorm’s owners could be back at any moment, thus quick to shove the box given to him by the burnbook under fitz’s bed ; far enough in the back so that it wasn’t too noticeable, but if someone were to do a thorough search of his dorm, it would be easily found. once the hardest part was done, he scurried back to the entrance and opened the door just enough to get a look outside and see if anyone was loitering. the coast was clear, which meant zig was free to leave with zero witnesses.
he almost felt bad about being able to get away with this so perfectly, but fitz surely had it coming after all this time, right ? zig refused to be harassed by the guy for his entirety of attendance at northview, and maybe something like this would finally get him to cut the big bad bully act for good. the biggest thing for him though was protecting his little brother. whoever was behind the burnbook proved to be powerful, and even if the threat was empty, he didn’t want to risk putting his family in danger.
with no roommate around, he picked up his cellphone and dialed the number to the campus police ( not before ensuring his number was private ) . the phone rang for a few seconds before a rugged voice picked up.
“ northview security, ” the man on the other end greeted with.
“ yeah, hey. you know how you guys have that ‘see something, say something’ rule ? well, i kinda saw something, and i wanted to report an anonymous tip . . . ”

i know it sounds a little stupid, but if i had to choose anything, then probably the friendship bracelet my little brother made for me a while back. other than that though, i don’t really put much meaning into stuff like that.

his thoughts were preoccupied, truly he didn’t want to show his face today but if he stayed in his room for one more second would likely be disastrous. he pulled his hood over his head and tried to stay as invisible as possible. it probably would have worked if he was watching where he was going instead of at his feet. “oh” he mumbled “sorry”
he was on his way to the last class of the day when his body collided with another’s. “ dude, watch where you’re — ” he paused upon realizing who it was ; one of the burnbook’s worst victims if the rumors proved to be true. even zig, who somehow managed to push through everyday only having one braincell, knew that outing someone like that was downright cruel. “oh, uh, hey . . . ” he probably got enough shit from people today — zig didn’t wanna kick the poor guy while he was down. “ you . . . you okay ? ”
“dude they’re like older than my mom. gotta be at least 60. don’t tell me you’re that desperate for a passing grade, novak.”
