Hi there! You may call me Zinae or by whatever name I just snatched up! I'm a very powerful Archfey!
Do not worry, I don't enslave or take firstborns, I have other means to gain power
Oh! I go by she/her but otherwise I don't quite understand gender
There are three consecutive knocks on the door
@zinae-archfey
Marilene stood up and answered the door, this time alone in the cabin. Kiara was too busy hanging out with her girlfriend, Aurelia, Nadia was at mythology lessons with Chiron, Sophia was still with the hunters, and Odette disappeared to some other place, probably practicing sword fighting or something. "Yes? Oh, hello again!"
Hellooo
Zinae waved a bit awkwardly while smiling
I've been reading up on human lore and apparently it's considered polite to knock on their front door instead of entering through the vents, so strange
"Yes, that would be correct. People typically want to know when someone else is gonna be there. Appearing though the vents might seem like an invasion of privacy," she explained. She moved out of the way of the door and gestured for her to come inside. "You can sit in one of the chairs or an empty bunk, if you would like."
Human etiquette is foreign to me, so it does seem strange to me that it would be
She said as she wandered in and picked a chair
Like how fey culture is weird and foreign to humans, different moralities and all that
She found her own seat to sit in and tied her hair back. "I can definitely see how that would be a culture shock. Is there anything in particular you wanted to do or talk about?"
Hmm... Well I realized last time I asked a bunch of questions about you but barely said anything about myself...
She summons a random stick and fidgets with it, practicing how to use fingers in that form
Soo... Questions?
"Hm..." She thought for a moment. "How old are you?" she started. "And if you are a fae, how come you're interested in a mortal like me?"
Uhhh... Time's weird in the feywild... About 25 years in there maybe? Which would be... 243 years ago in here I think? Ageless works best
The second question made her consider much longer before speaking, bit difficult to answer...
Well... I dunno... Some stupid mortal gave me their soul under weird conditions, never asked for it, emotions been weird since
She paused again, the entire thing is weird...
"Human emotions are very complicated," she empathized. "You are also pretty close to my age, technically speaking. I'm 20. Can I ask why that mortal gave you their soul?"
I don't know honestly, I was just out and about making little pacts to get stronger and then some human came up to me and gave me her soul, like fully, didn't even know her
She holds out her hand, summoning a pink orb of light
It's hers, I've tried getting rid of it, but it just keeps coming back
"Huh." She stared at the orb as if it might give her some answers. Alas, nothing came to mind besides a few campers who liked that color and were still alive and well. "I would think a soul would know the name of the person it came from, but the soul is very different in every belief and across time."
The soul and name can actually be separated! The soul is what gives morality, the name is identity.
She explained while putting the soul back away
Lose both you become a husk, lose the soul and your moral inhibitions disappear, lose the name and slowly lose your sense of self
"I guess that makes sense? I always thought the soul was just your essence, what would come down to the underworld when your body died. I wonder what happened to the person after that, and what she's up to."
Well that's the weirdest thing, I can't find her at all! She's not on any earth or in any afterlife! Just gone!
She leaned back a bit, looked up and back at her
Enough about the mysterious woman whose soul won't leave me alone! Anyone told you look pretty?
After saying that she looked at herself almost confused
I did not mean to say that out loud...
Her eyes widened slightly at the comment, her cheeks gaining a rosy color to them. "A few. Mainly my little sisters."
Huh- more people really should-
She paused for a few seconds, staring directly at her face, wondering why her cheeks are now a different color
She brushed her hair behind her ear and smiled. "Thank you. I could say the same thing about you."
Zinae seemingly got stunned, blushing a faint foresty green
I uh- oh- I- emotions- weird-
Zinae has been flirted with, many mortals tried, just why now? She did seek someone to date but she didn't think she'd actually feel anything...

Heyyy, sorry about that whole name thing, I just needed leverage over a mortal to get some help, as a sign of apology, here's the soup of one of my enemies, very powerful, use it sparingly
She holds out a cube that glows a dark purple
-Z
"I'm sorry, what is this supposed to do? Do I get my name back?"
I thought you already ate it? Eh, that weird man has it, he'll give it to you. Oh and with that soul you can command the fey it belongs to!
She summons a piece of parchment
And this is the spell that gives you the power to use the soul that way! You could also eat the soul and gain immortality, but you'd become a fey and fade away if you don't make any pacts
"I didn't eat it yet because I didn't trust it. I don't really feel right about commanding someone like that. I don't want to manipulate or control people," she explained. "I also don't want to be immortal."
Well then use it as a power source! Put in a coal generator as if it were coal and you've got electricity for millennia! And you really should eat your name
She takes a moment to think
If you are worried about the food thing, that's specifically only for cooked food made by fey and for me I even need to use specific ingredients
"But that's a soul! Wouldn't that be like slowly killing someone?" The thought of putting a soul in a coal generator definitely didn't sit right with her. Even just having it would feel awful.
Not really, the fey it belonged to is wandering around soulless, he'll only lack moral inhibitions because of that
She says weirdly casually, for a second her left ear transforms into a rock and then back
Whoops, sorry about that, consistently keeping up a physical form is weird
"No. I'm not keeping that thing. I'm sorry, but it just doesn't sit right with me." She wrapped her arms around her waist.
Oh well, then I'll just go back to the feywild, if you ever want to make a proper pact, I'm sure you'll find a summoning ritual!
And she's gone

Greetings, I've been told you are at least willing to meet me?
A voice within the very wind itself seems to speak up out of nowhere
-Z
She subconsciously held Nadia closer to her at the sudden noise, the girl's hair already finished being braided neatly behind her head. "Yes, but did he tell you what else I said?"
Not really no, but to be expected from the likes of him-
She took a moment to think
Would you prefer if I manifested physically?
"Please do." She kept Nadia held close in her arms. "I warned him that I'm not sure romance is my thing, for starters."
Suddenly she manifests in front of her, a warm smile on her face as she opened her eyes
Limbs feel weird. Anyways- ah, I see, I've heard humans say that experimenting helps finding out such matter.
She looks to Nadia, a child, cute, then back up
You may call me by Zinae, what shall I call you by?
"Isn't it unwise to give your name to a fairy? Perhaps I should use a pseudonym." She relaxed her grip slightly, still keeping half an eye on her youngest sister.
Clever, I like you already, but pay attention to wording, I asked what to call you by, not if I can have your name
She explained while trying to figure out what facial expression is appropriate, which took a couple of seconds
To make sure I don't accidentally steal your name I'll ask again. What shall I call you by?
She hesitated. "You can call me Mari," she decided. It may have been just a nickname, but she still didn't entirely trust her. She knew plenty about all the Greek monsters, but not so much about everything else.
Mari... I understand your hesitation about your real name, all in time and trust I guess...
She thought for a bit, trying to figure how continue, what do humans talk about? Eh, why bother-
Would you trust me if I gave you something you can use against me?
"If that something is adequate enough to stop you from potentially hurting me, or my family, than sure," she agreed. "Sorry, I don't mean to be rude. I've seen a lot, and I would rather keep us all safe as much as possible."
That's understandable, makes me like you even more Mari
She holds out her hand and manifests a green glowing small pyramid, she holds it out to her
My soul, as long as you have it I cannot harm you or those you don't want to be harmed. If you knew certain incantations you could even control me, but that much I'm not giving away
"Your soul? I'm sorry, I just met you. Are you sure you trust me with something so precious?" She kept her hand to herself, staring at the pyramid. This took a quick turn.
I'm sure you'll give it back if this doesn't work out, I trust you, free of charge
She slowly took it, still keeping her other arm around Nadia. "My full name is Marilene, and this is my littlest sister." Unless her dad had any more kids she didn't know about. She was hopeful that her mother would at least send an omen if there was going to be a new addition to the cabin.
Thank you Marilene, I promise this trust is not wasted
She said as she figured out how to smile again, facial expressions are so foreign to her
Your sister is cute, do you take care of her?
"Yep. Kiara helps out, too, but she's home during the school years. I stay here year-round. During the school year, I shadow travel her to school and to pick her up. It's better that way."
She looks down to Nadia with a smile
Hope you appreciate what she does for you little one
She looks back up, fidgeting with her fingers until she manages to find a comfortable position for her hands
Now as much as I'd like to stay and get to know you more... I do have duties... I hope you find interest in getting to know me more too
She nodded. "Of course. I wouldn't want to keep you away from important work. Well, since I'm unsure of where to find you, I stay here unless I'm taking one of my sisters anywhere. It's not a terribly huge camp, so I'm sure it won't be hard to find me if I'm not in here."
Just say my name while holding my soul, I'll hear and come to you oh and-
A blue rose suddenly manifests in her hand, she holds it out to her
A gift, it won't wilt away, see it as a sign of interest from me, tah-tha!
And she's just suddenly gone
