Kaz takes naps (part 2)

because I like sleepy Kaz and so does Inej. 

Imagine her coming through the window, as she always does, seeking refuge in Kaz’s room from the constant rain that’s been pouring down on Ketterdam for days. She removes her damp braid from her hood, takes off her coat and lays it on the window seal, expecting a Don’t drip over my desk, Wraith. But no words come, not even his famous What business? She turns to his desk and finds his silhouette slumped over it, completely still. She glances around, knives at the ready, as she tiptoes toward him. No sign of threat. His eyes are closed, his breathing steady. She smiles, he’s asleep. Her fingers ache to run through his disheveled hair, but she just puts her weapons back in their sheaths and takes a step back. She wants to leave, but- Inej? The rasp of his sleepy voice makes her shiver. Sleep, moi dragi, I’m here. His eyelids flutter, but he doesn’t wake up. His mouth opens and closes a few times before he mumbles something unintelligible with her name in the middle and sighs deeply.

She sits with her back to the door, her eyes on the window, her knife in her hand; his Wraith a silent sentinel - as it always is.
