Callum’s Arc
These past two seasons have been really interesting, and one of the things that called my attention the most was Callum’s storyline. After Callum discovers his connection with primal magic, the fandom divided itself into two groups:
The ones who want Callum’s dad to be a human, so he can be the first human to learn how to use primal magic.
The ones who want Callum’s dad to be an elf.
Personally, I like both theories, and I would be excited and happy with either of them being true. But I have reasons to think that Callum’s dad will probably end up being an elf.
What do we know about primal magic?
Primal magic is a connection you are born with, or so we think.
Humans aren’t born with this connection, so they are forced to extract it from creatures that do. This practice is called “dark magic”
Though dark magic is the esiest way for humans to do magic, there are also stones with primal magic inside of them, that also allows them to do magic. The only problem is that these are rare.
If Callum’s dad is human
This, of course, would mean Callum is the first human to actually have a connection with primal magic without external help. The understandment of this magic is inside of him. Which means that humans can actually have a connection with primal magic, with the difference that they need to look for it, instead of being born with it.
This sounds all nice, but I have to ask myself, if this is true, why Callum is the first one? How it’s that no one else have tried before?
Of course, Callum had the option of finding this connection because he used dark magic in the first place. But, all humans are faced with the same choice? If so, Callum is, actually, the first one in rejecting the power of the dark magic?
The writers are clearly building up certain rules for this world and the magic in it. Though it sounds awesome how Callum is “breaking” these rules, then why the identity of Callum’s dad is such a big mystery? I know his identity will be important, somehow. Which leads me to:
If Callum’s dad is an elf
The main reason why I think Callum’s dad will be an elf is because of the opportunity that it will present for the exploration and understandment of the world itself. We don’t know about relationships between humans and elves, but it was probably a thing before the world was separated by the war between the two species, which means they probably had children.
Callum’s characters would be a great opportunity to explore that side of this world’s history. And would also explain Callum’s struggle after he used dark magic. Why? Because dark magic is, probably, used only by humans, since elves are born with the understandment of primal magic inside of them. If Callum’s dad is an elf, that could mean that his discussion with his other self after using dark magic could be interpreted as a fight between his human side and his elf side.
Well, anyway, that’s my analysis! But tell me, what do you think about this theories? Are you team human dad or elf dad? :)
EDIT: guys, you need to read the answers to this post. People have amazing theories :D

The Midnight Star
So I made an attempt at translating the Aaravos/Elarion poem that @thedragonprinceofficial posted today. Did take a few liberties here and there but tried to also make them rhyme so the beautiful, haunting words flowed well. If anyone would like to suggest corrections etc, please let me know, thanks!
“Elarion, core trembling lay down on an icy night and in the cold pulled at her roots challenging the deadly winter bite
Elarion and her blooming flower afraid of wilt, injustice and death searched in the darkness for his light the eyes of the hungry dragon burned
Elarion, confused, frightened, brought her white branches towards the night the stars asked to receive her light and the fire of the raging dragon stopped
Elarion, with a heavy heart, cried as the stars in the sky turned black they wore their masks they turned their backs and they left Elarion to die
Elarion, her skin wrestled with death, withered and cursed in the dark, until the last star reached out from afar she touched him: a blazing gifted spark
Elarion, with it’s pure white, embraced the great black night flame and when she bent down she declared her faith whispering, “Aaravos”, his name
Elarion, black-eyed child, her twisted roots spread deep and far, the human’s might sparked by the light of Aaravos, her midnight star”
I’m really living for all the Aaravos thirst posts like, thank you all for validating my whole career lmao
