Flying Back to You
Charmaine was jumpy, anxious, and ready to bolt like some scared animal. She couldn’t be here, especially not with Zoe around. She swallowed rather painfully and cast her eyes downward at her feet. She shook her head. “I’m fine,” she mumbled, never being able to lie effectively since she never really lied. “I’m just taking a late night walk around because I can’t sleep.” She was cringing at the lie but she had no choice. She had to get out of here. “You should get back inside. It really is getting late and you might end up getting hurt or something.”
Despite the response, Zoe remained unconvinced. Now, Charmaine seemed to be avoiding her gaze and had a general standoffish air about her. It made Zoe suspicious, but more than that, she couldn't help but to feel slightly concerned. "Why don't we walk back together, then?" She offered, not wanting to retreat to her room with no idea of what might be going on with the girl.
