i think one of the things that makes luffy such an interesting protagonist is that hes not special he doesnt have some one of a kind ability that only he has like lots of other anime protags

he has conqueror’s haki? so does ace, whitebeard, hancock, shanks, and many others

devil fruit powers? sure his rubber ability is unique to him but his powers arent even rare like a logia or mythical zoan

will of the d? plenty of other characters have that initial too

luffys not special, the only thing that makes him stand out is his tenacity and ability to draw people to him what makes luffy unique is purely personality and character hes not strong because hes the protagonist hes strong because hes luffy

It is honestly why the story has gone on for so long, other stories have to end because there really is a limit to how strong you can depict someone if the story revolves around them constantly developing new powers to defeat people.
