⊹ THE ALL - SEEING EYE. affiliated with @jianshou. (the fukuzawa i mention here is the one that i personally write on my multi. if you write him and wish to plot something different, we can always discuss!)

fareeda was born in cairo, egypt to two parents that were government workers, not aware of ability users and the secret section of the government that revolves around them. when she was a mere child, she was orphaned due to a car crash that killed both her parents, ending up in her staying at an orphanage that gave little care to the kids. she avoided most of them, still struck with grief and not understanding her emotions fully, and used to hide in dangerous places such as construction sites and abandoned boroughs. when she was around twelve, she is found by ahmed, a lawyer who focuses on helping out people who were wrongfully sentenced, and he adopts her, giving her a new family that she slowly became more comfortable with.

unbeknownst to her, and this is something she will only find out in her mid twenties, the government attacked her and her family due to the abilities she has. she will not know until she's in her late teens, but she is able to gain access to dreams and understand them fully, whether that is her own or that of others. once she first encounters said ability, there is an event that turns everything around. fareeda had activated her evil eye, an extra ability that is the power to inflict harm on a person by gaze. she can inflict a variety of harmful and debilitating effects on anyone she chooses, just by gazing at them including but not limited to: laying horrific curses, inflicting pain and suffering, knocking people out and even killing people. and that is exactly what happens. due to not fully understanding her powers, she kills a group of people.

during this time, the director of the detective agency, fukuzawa yukichi, was on a mission in cairo and ended up seeing the whole encounter. he approaches her and her father and she is offered to join the agency if she manages to get through the entrance exam. she's skeptical, not understanding why he would help a random person, but she accepts nonetheless because her father had asked her to. this leads to her moving to yokohama, japan and becoming a detective. her ability helps them greatly and she becomes an even greater part of the agency, but when she begins to grow and reaches her twenties, she decides she would rather write about issues than solve them directly, ending up in her following her path as a journalist. she leaves the agency, but stays in contact with them in case she gets another vision.

fareeda quickly becomes a well - known journalist, writing about important issues around the world, using her ability as an advantage as she would find out about events before they even happened. in secret, she uses a secret alias to expose organizations' horrible actions that oftentimes cause harm to innocent people. during that time, she finds out about the section of the egyptian government and the cause of her biological family's death. after months of travelling and using the resources around her, she ends up exposing them, making people wonder who the secret writer actually was. this causes another group to take over the section in the government and form it into something better. she stays out of it most of the time, but the people that lead it are ones she knows personally.

for a time she had to stay undercover due to the authorities being able to gather enough information if she took another step. and she had many more plans. that was, until she was approached by different people who knew of her work who had their own story to tell. she did not publish them just yet, but she collected enough of them to make sure she has leverage to use in case she ever does. her quiet era ends, however, when houyi, an ability - deprived lifeform she had encountered before during her time at the agency meets her again. while they met within antagonistic terms, this time the two of them partner up to expose houyi's very own organization so he may pull the tarp off of his organization and what they've created. their partnership is unfriendly at best, but she makes use of the situation to make sure they no longer experiment on people like houyi and cause more harm.

some notes:

⊹ to go deeper into her ability, it is called " in the language of miracles ". she has the ability of divination, reading memories through touching objects and people, prophetic dreams and the evil eye. she can also dream walk into specific people's minds when they sleep, but that is only if she has some sort of connection with them.

⊹ her full ability revolves around prophetic dreams, which is why she is not very useful in combat. she offers her partners enough insight for them to win a fight and about future events that involves what they're working on, but she refuses to use her evil eye due to how dangerous it gets. when she was in the agency, she used to perform with it due to the fact that fukuzawa had control over her ability, but now that she left, it is more imbalanced than ever.

⊹ fareeda has no affiliation with any organization. she is part of journalistic firm, but when it comes to either the port mafia or the agency, she will make use of the connections she has in both places. she cares little for good and bad and goes to both when she knows someone can help her.

⊹ she's manipulative and fights dirty. fareeda knows many things about many people, not just due to her having seer abilities, but because she knows exactly where to look. she keeps eyes on people and will not refrain from using information as blackmail to get what she wants.

foreign soil beneath his feet and foreign truth upon his tongue, houyi walks into this trap willingly like a wounded animal begging for the mercy of a quickened death. he's to take the bait, this much he knows, for this to work. for trust to form between them where before there lay only a feud fuelled by everything he claims to be, everything he is not, and everything she is. “ i'm letting you bait me, ” words spoken straight - faced, hands in the pockets of his coat and head cocked to the side, brow raised as he inspects the establishment presented to him with mild scepticism. less lavish than what he's used to, but nobody knows him here, in this pocket of the world fareeda seems to hold in her palms and has invited him into. the feeling of safety envelopes him as he steps inside under her gentle offer, though it perhaps shouldn't do so, nerves beneath skin standing to attention, cautious mind over - planning for any eventuality, such as it was created to do. “ you don't get to celebrate that. ” twitch of a smile over his shoulder. inspecting the trap set, to prey caught in the cage, waiting.

“ it isn't. ” hard to believe, no elaboration. but there is no sweat upon her brow, her heartbeat remains in a steadied rhythm. there is nothing to suggest to him that in any way, it is unsafe here. the sleeping god says otherwise, unfaltering with its immediate distaste for the decisions houyi makes within his own mind, for once certain of their trajectory. seats taken he sinks into worn leather with a surprised crease in his brow, before catching himself, straightening with a false nonchalance he's sure she noticed. her wicked smile deadens his features, eyes narrowing in her direction as though to say stop that. change of heart ? a stretch at all to say he possessed one. biologically it is simply responsible for pushing blood through his body and keeping it upright, beyond that simple function houyi is unsure if it works, if his was designed to carry the plague of thought and feeling, or if it remains simply a tool, like the rest of him. then his face scrunches, tongue clicking against the roof of his mouth and next breath drawn through his teeth with a humoured sneer in her direction and utterance of the word under his breath, “ blasé ... ” fingers snatching a menu and flipping through it to avoid her gaze. “ don't make me regret coming here. ” can't help himself, folds it again between his fingers and points its tip in her direction, meeting her eyes with something akin to torment alight in their centres. “ i'll betray everything i know for this. take it seriously and——cut the shit. or i'll walk. ” blinking himself back, settling into leather he opens the menu and peruses it briefly. earlier statement like a passing breeze. “ now. what's good here ? ”

the silence of hers that follows is as large and wide as the ocean, but her gaze is sharp and keen, never faltering once as he speaks. her eyes begin to circle him, like a hunter might before striking a deer. sitting next to him, his voice clear right in her own ear, she eyes him curiously. she doesn't really care about getting an answer out of him. the reason for his decision won't change her will to grab this chance so she can never let it go and make use of it. but there is something so thrilling about getting a reaction out of him. she nods along, smile never changing shape— hand only briefly reaching down so she can place it on the table. the irony in her tone is evident as she speaks, ripe like a peach.  ``     why not? i'll get a glass of gin and celebrate right here and then. the look on your face is reason enough, after all.    `` she says, a low click of her tongue, voice slipping down an octave, almost like something rough is gnawing at her vocal chords. she knows what it is, but she bears it no mind now. because even though the feeling makes her uncomfortable, down to the very marrow of her bones, she can do nothing but bask in it. in the voice that speaks to her in her head, in that heavy gaze she imagines when she sleeps. there’s a stability to the way she carries her next words, something self - assured.

she personifies a security that's only dangerous, an absent smile that would only make numbed - out hands even colder, but there’s a warmth to it one couldn’t find around here, in the dark and gritty path carved out before anyone who crosses paths with her. ``     let me make one thing clear.    `` her eyes gleam suddenly. a deviled whisper on her tongue as there is a sense of seriousness in the breath that slips past her lips. ``     i do this everyday. my job relies on exposing organizations that take advantage of others, especially the weak.    `` there’s that bite. it sneaks up on her and grows teeth. ``     whether this works out depends on you, because i could care less whether you want to walk or not. besides ...    `` she grins as she leans forward. ``     we both know you won't. since i'm sure this isn't the sort of company you keep. if you keep any, that is.    `` the last part sounds more like an insult than anything, but her demeanor quickly changes to something more curious. fareeda claps her hands together once and smiles, as if their former conversation had never happened in the first place. ``     the shrimp is really good.    `` she says, bright and courteous. there’s both a sense of genuinity and artificiality to her tone that she, herself, cannot hide. ``     doesn't matter, though. pick something yourself. the whole menu's great.    ``

her head tilts as she maintains eye contact, the red mark on her forehead glinting in the moonlight with the movement of her body. it burns brightly at the tip before it dims once again and that same breath of ghastly grey leaves her lips— and this time anyone can see her lips curl into an easy smile. her body shifts slightly and then with slow and deliberate steps, she begins to traverse along their surroundings, protected by the roof above.  ``     that so?    `` in her head, the memory of her vision grows closer and closer with each step, the next gust of wind has the smoke travelling her way and it stings at the back of her throat. she shows no sign, but the atmosphere is no better. it batters against her skin and demands entry. it strokes along her features, along the length of her jaw and the scar barely hidden by her dress that was not suited for someone like her. it only makes her smile again.  ``     i offer you a few conundrums, however. which one do you see first?    `` the way she offers her truth is the same way she always does: riddled with several lies.

it reminds her of a serpent, curling and curling before it tightens, constricting until its prey gives in. until there was no hope left. fareeda was something worse than a snake, however, she was intelligent. conniving. a strategist who could have the world in utter chaos if she wishes it, but where was the fun in that? piltover has been a setting she's grown quite used to, even if it is in the most twisted way possible.  ``     one of them could kill you, you know. what a silly little ending that would be.    `` she notes, her head turned just enough for viktor to catch the brown of her eyes when she side - eyes them. her words are probing, an underlying question that shall never be answered. she feigns a gasp and turns around to look at him once more.   ``     should we make this into a game? i bet that'll be much more enjoyable than whatever boring science stuff you have going on.    ``

``     you wound me! whyever would you assume that?    `` she turns to look at the building they're both standing in front of. it fronts what looks to be a bar, not quite as modern as some of the others she had passed by. it looked more authentic, if that's the word she'd use. it’s not imposing, it blends in perfectly wedged between two other buildings that look like stores— it’s the perfect place for someone like her, it stands out enough to those seeking something but in an area shoddy enough that it won’t draw in too many people.  fareeda gives houyi a few seconds to inspect the building before she grins at her next thoughts, unspoken as they are. she glances past the old wooden doors at the inside of a very well - kept bar. she can tell it's relatively empty, with a few people hanging around by the bar. she tilts her head at him, her tone mocking.  ``     i wouldn't know. you'd only get caught in one if you're easily baited. are you?    `` she pauses for just a second. 

``     go on, then. we have much to discuss. wouldn't want you to catch on to me before the trap is set.    `` her eyes rove over the multitude of artwork hanging from the walls, swirling paint strokes and sculptured mythical creatures. she places her hands around her hips once she’s sure the two of them have been secured in the building.  ``     i know it's hard to believe, but it's safer here.    `` and it made sense. from what she'd learned of her line of work, a person would be more shielded staying in one place instead of being seen in multiple locations, especially if it concerned a topic such as his. while she made sure not to tell him her plan, her mind knew where she needs to be. she raises her eyebrow at him, then, interest piquing in her eyes.  ``     you didn't answer me from before.    `` she smiles something that is more wicked than anything. she was baiting him, but why would she ever admit that? the fun was just about to begin.  ``     you had a change of heart. why?    `` she lets out a feigned gasp, then.  ``     let me guess! you've grown blasé of yourself. i would be. look at the state of you.    ``

she clicks her tongue, the action so natural to her she doesn't even realize she's done it. the warehouse they were supposed to check out tonight was rumored to be empty, no one had been seen moving in and out of it for days. there wasn’t meant to be a proper fight as they had come here for a simple loot. when asked about it, she had been told by the informant that it was just a simple shipment, a bunch of documents and objects that needed to be shifted from one side of the city to the other. but this was not just any old sort of object, that she was sure of.  that meant the crate would most likely be tracked and inside of it would be goods worth more money than either of the two people in front of them had touched in their entire life. blood money, she would assume. and she was going to find out who had gotten hurt for this prized object. in her mind, it feels like the first snow of winter. crisp air flooding her lungs, ice - slicked pavement crackling beneath her feet, skeletal trees that glitter with frozen dew and freshly coated snowflakes. broken skin, nips of icicle - teeth.

this is what her consciousness calls wonder in the strangest ways. whereas others would act swiftly, the scene that is about to unfold in front of her interests her greatly. she turns to look at chuuya now. there's a sharp edge to her brown eyes, like there's a weight there. something knowing. and then, just how it always works, there's a tug at her subconscious. a crack in a frozen lake.   ``     you might be in luck.    `` she whispers.   ``     depending on that—    `` and she points with her eyes at one of them.   ``     guy's next move, he might do something and make a fool out of himself.    `` her eyes swim with precision. decision. a cleave into ones skin, her greedy eyes slipping under it. what she carries now is wisdom of power she can use and its experience and it only leaves a childlike sense of wonder in her this time. is that a choice she wishes to make? she hasn't used the evil eye in years, but it feels warm behind her ribcage, right where she hides her secrets.

she tugs the thought along and casts it aside, however, because that, too, has become too boring to stomach. her eyes land on the woman next to him.   ``     she might be trickier. it depends on who moves first.    `` she glances over to him one final time, a mocking pout gracing her features that she only shows to get on his nerves once again.   ``     i'm not a fighter, though, so you're all on your own here, chuuya.    ``
