Semester Review | Fall 2019 | IDEA COMSATS | CUI
Hope, That’s what it is, a distant ray of light, in all that void presence of something, a certain shape, defined boundary among infinite universes. Hope, the only entity that might to able to show us some way in all of this darkness
hate for culture!
One of the many reasons for this developed hatred and rage for culture and tradition, especially among young people, is that culture and tradition judge them. Traditions let them know what they lack what they need to improve. Being competent is not easy, at all. You have to work hard to be competent and it's not a one-time thing, you have to struggle and improve continuously because if you don't, people around you won't let you pass. So what do you do? you go for the easy path, that may not be a conscious decision. What's that easy path? Well, you develop the false belief that you are competent and you are too good already. When that happens and somebody or some entity, such as tradition, tells you that you are "wrong", you are not good enough in some ways, you lack competence, and you need to work hard to gain that status. It challenges your false belief. As a result, you will consider tradition/culture as an entity that tells you what to do, how to do and makes you feel like you don't know much. Given the pre-existing belief of self-praise, you will run away from such an entity and in extreme cases, you'll hate it.
Safe Place!
To be safe and secure partly what we do is: - Not going to places that cause anxiety/depression -Staying in your territory Most of the times this will work because while you are in your territory you are fully aware of your surroundings, you know how to act there. you are not afraid of the presence of irritating "other". you might well be afraid but not as much as you would have been if you weren't in your shell. But sometimes IT WON'T WORK, as you are a social being which has to interact with "OTHERS" (entities that are not you) and it's inevitable. You can not stay in your shell, hiding from everything. You can, for sure, hide from a bunch of things but the question that you should be asking yourself is: For how long? and what kind of social existence it would deliver you? When the interaction with the "other" is inevitable it encapsulates the areas/thoughts that will scare the hell out of you, and if you keep staying in your bubble the reality would crush that bubble, most of the time your shell protect you and that's good, but things that are more powerful and ruthless, when will they come, they'll destroy your shell and will leave you anxious and depressed even resentful in the worst case. So hiding and avoiding is not the optimal solution to deal with disturbing situations, rather you should learn how to deal with disturbing situations, that won't be easy at all, it is tough to train yourself to deal with those situations but if you could pull that off it'll make you stronger than ever. But why one should deal with all the mess? To survive and flourish and to make your existence known to "Other", you have to interact with it, even fight it.
