“It’s nothing that won’t pass. Tough day, really. That’s all. I do appreciate the concern, though. What can I do for you, Silke?”
“Well, you know, I always follow Chanel when I feel burden start to weigh on my shoulders: ‘When you’re sad, add more lipstick and attack.’ I do have a burgundy in my purse that would just look darling on you, if you like. -- What I came down for can wait; cosmetics rarely can.”
“Well you need it to do your job so nothing is really too trivial for it to be brought up,” she reasoned. However, when Silke mentioned Q7 Rachel smiled. “That sounds like a reasonable agreement for the two of you.”
“I suppose you are right. Nonetheless.” Silke chuckled at Rachel’s comment. “Yes, well, we like to think we have a symbiotic relationship. Or, at least, I do - more likely than not I’m some Neanderthal tag-along. Though don’t even mention that I said anything close to that. He’s a lithe man, if his ego expands he’ll never be able to walk straight again.”
“Well, there are worse things to die of.”
“Let’s not speak of death, darling, I see enough of it in my everyday life and don’t like to think about yours. -- - But I suppose this means you missed me in my absence?”
“I got your texts, that much my phone still did for me.”

“My darling Dorian, I’m slightly insulted that you’d even consider myself and fast food in the same thought.”
“I know somewhere close that’s lovely. -- - So, tell me, how was the mission? Any unexpected developments?”

“I think it’s the phones,” she shrugged. “Normal wear and tear is one thing but if you did something to it they’ll probably be less than thrilled.”
“It certainly wasn’t anything I did - not that I can recall, anyway. But I was more concerned they’d find it too trivial to be brought to their attention.”
“No matter, I’ll just find Q7 and ask him to take a look at it. We have something of an agreement on these things - I buy him groceries and remind him to eat, he checks my electronics when they go on the fritz.”

“I know,” he replied immediately, and then paused as his mind caught up. “–although I’m not exactly sure what you’re referring to in this instance, considering how many options there are.”
“This time, I meant at continuing my delusions. -- Very convincing, seemingly heartfelt. Add it to your list of talents, right after ‘immense humility.’”

Amelia frowned listening “Mhh…it’s like that since you came back…mhh they should probably check it then, maybe something happened to the phone while you were busy with your mission” Amelia smiled a little “I know, it sounds like paranoia, but it’s better being safe about these things”
“I suppose you’re right - it can’t help to be safe, but I can’t help but feel I might damage the Qs pride.” Silke chuckled, sliding her phone away into her pocket. “Regardless, I’ve been looking for you, darling - you just have to tell me, how was the Ebor festival? Tell me it was grand.”

“That’s a strange looking version of ‘fine,’ dear. Are you sure you’re alright, Laura?”
“Your vital role in my life is hardly dependent on food deliveries,” he replied, in a rare moment of sincerity.
The candor surprised Silke into what, on a different kind of woman, may have been described as a blush. “-- - Alright, that was good. You’re very good, Q.”
“We’d been drinking... it was a mistake.” .... Right?
an au-maybe-kind-of-thing (who knows) situation wherein q and silke spend the night together, and don’t know how to broach the subject after the fact.
“The wit, I’ll grant you,” he replied with a smile. “But the grocery deliveries are hardly necessary.”
“Oh, don’t spoil the fun.” She clucked, slapping Q lightly on the knee. “I like to pretend I have an otherwise vital role in your life. Let me have my delusions, won't you?”

“Both, of course.” He held out his hand for the device. “You’re very lucky that the pleasure of your company outweighs the inanity of repairing your phone.”
“Of course.” She repeated, placing her phone in his palm. “And you’re quite simply lucky that I’m back to provide you with superlative wit and necessary grocery deliveries.”

“Probably. Most of the Qs would be rather annoyed by that.”
“I figured as much.” She sighed, putting her phone down. “But these blasted iPhones always seem to malfunction one way or another after a couple of months. - Is that just me?”
