First Burren Post
I have never left the country before. I have never been outside of the continental united states. Of those, I haven’t even visited half...Probably not even a quarter. My first time traveling abroad has me doing it completely alone, with a great deal of privilege; but I am also leaving my fiançée in Fayetteville for four months to do it.
Suffice it to say, I do not look forward to this task. I do not look forward to being separated from my partner, my social structure, and my routines, etc.
But I am looking forward to the adventure I designed for myself. I am looking forward to relative mobility in places I have never been, and meeting new people. I am looking forward to plane rides, and not being able to drive. I am looking forward to live shows of music, and art, and architecture, and accents, and food. I am looking forward to solitude and philosophy/critical theory readings. I am looking forward to experience, gestation, and bringing forth new work. And at the end, I look forward to coming home to my family.
T minus 22 days, 16 hours, and 10 minutes until my flight out is scheduled to take off.
