Winter Break has come to an end..
I can’t believe it has come to an end :( I didn’t feel like I’ve done much, but maybe it’s because I have friends and family surrounding me that have gone abroad for a winter vacation. Although I’ve stayed put, I definitely had a lot of time to figure myself out and analyze certain behaviours and situations that I’ve come across during my first semester at school. By reflecting with friends I’ve been able to figure out other methods of self- healing. Whether it’s sadness, stress, or guilt from a dilemma, a unhealthy meal or a block in the road, looking on the bright side of things is something I definitely would like to take on during the year of 2016.
(Went for Christmas Eve dinner with my Mum after church. Quality time with my Mum is the best, plus I’ve discovered a new restaurant that I can take Anthony to!)
CHRISTMAS DAY- Really didn’t do much- drove to Hillcrest for a workout, then once I got home I just started baking! I made a tower as a part of Anthony’s Christmas gift, plus wanted to use up the overly ripe avocados we’d had in the kitchen for a while. To prepare for a family dinner, I also made an avocado pasta salad & a cream cheese salsa dip.
Jasmine was the star of the show as usual!
I’d say that the quality time spent with my family, as well as getting the opportunity to catch up with friends and loved ones was the highlight of my winter break. I even got to reconnect with a few as well- who could imagine such a thing would happen!
2015 was quite a struggle: I was quite negative when things did not go my way. I’ve got through the transition of being a full time manager, to a full time student which went quite smooth now that I think of it. Even though the transition was smooth, my emotional eating did not stop. It’s going to be different this year, and so far it has been. I’m keeping the positive momentum going, and so far I’ve been feeling great. Why would I want to lose this feeling? I’m never going back.
these past few days have been a dream.. (o'ahu, hawaii)
"Cocoon time is over. Rise up. The bowing phase has passed. Prayer has all phases. And now is standing time. Stand up. Strong. You're a bloody warrior. Now fight back. Take it back. Your heart. Your peace. Your life. Don't ever think spirituality makes you weak. Oh no. True spirituality creates soldiers. It is the flame that burns the weakness of attachment from the face of the heart. And then it fashions the heart into a bulletproof shelter. The real kind. The deep kind. The kind that can't be broken by life; because it has already broken to God. That's what a real bulletproof heart looks like. Not because it is hard. Oh no. But because it is ALIVE. Cocoon time is over." - Yasmin Mogahed. #qotd #nye #tb #salzburg #austria #winterbreak2015 #goodbye2015 #hello2016 (at Festung Hohensalzburg - Fortress Hohensalzburg)
