This is more of a fuck managers post.

I work at a grocery chain in Indiana. In the deli. Most days I don't hate my job as we are a small but tight knit group. We have been asking for more help for months. Last week several of us were out at once. One with flu, one with strep, one with her son who is in hospice care, one with both her parents in the ICU and me with a severe concussion. All valid and documented reasons. Our dept manager is amazing and just told us to get well or be back when we could. Our store manager however called me every day of the week I was out to ask when I was coming back (even though it clearly said in my documentation) and threatened that those of us calling off were going to have our hours cut because this was ridiculous and she was going to hire new people who would work. Keeping in mind I havent had a call off since July. My first day back was yesterday and lo and behold with much glee she introduces us to the 4 new hires who she says will be taking our hours.

Time to look for a new job.
